When do you introduce sippy cups?

I offered water in bottle last night with food, should it have been a cup?

ive been offering Sophie a tippy cup ith either water or juice in at meal times aince we started weaning at 4 months
she took really well to it

We started just putting a sippy cup on his tray last week, no pressure but it was there for him to see/play with/become familiar with. Surprisingly he took to it so well.
He can pretty much drink from it, just doesn't lift it high enough to get the water out sometimes, so needs a little help.
