When I started out on our bf journey I really didn't know if I could stick it out. I wasn't sure it was for me, I felt awkward about the whole thing, but wanted to try regardless. We had issues in the beginning with a nursing strike and a trip to the special care nursery leading me to pump just a few days in. I was able to get him to latch again and we continued. I had to return to work at 3 months and pump during the day. My supply does not keep up with my growing boy so I have to top the bottles with formula which was an emotional decision but is really for the best. Every struggle I would tell myself to get to the next week, the next milestone, etc. I hoped we would get to 6 months and then I would see how it goes from there if we wanted to continue. Well my little guy is 6 months today and we are still going strong! I'm so proud of myself for getting this far, if you had asked me in the first few weeks I would have guessed that I had quit by now. And despite our struggles, cluster feeds, rough nights I would not trade this nursing relationship for the world. I will miss it when it eventually does come to an end. So no point to my thread- just celebrating 6 months and hoping that it helps the newbies out there forge ahead. It really does get better!!
