Hi ladies,

At my last scan, my FS mentioned that the gestational sac is on the small side. He said he didn't think it meant anything and as long as there's a good heartbeat and the baby is growing good (which the baby is), that shouldn't be an issue. But from what I was reading on google, a small gestational sac COULD be an indicator of a miscarriage.

I've had a lot of problems so far with this pregnancy, (low hcg levels, than a plateau which made FS believe I lost a twin, etc) so just super paranoid atm.

Has anyone else had a small sac and everything turn out okay?

Me look at my avatar but it was last week and i wont have a scan til 12 weeks now so i have been a nervous wreck about it my sac is tiny i dont know whats going to happen. Have you got a pic of yours? X

This is my scan

Did they measure your sac? Mine only measures at 4 weeks 6 days when the fetal pole measured 6 weeks 4 days they were not concerned but i have been i am going to try push for another scan.

No my clinic doesn't measure the sac especially when there's good fetal growth and strong heartbeat.

I asked for mine done because it was how i was measured the week before when the fetal pole was tiny, it had only grown by 1mm so i am hoping it had a massive growth spurt because my baby looks as if its ran out of room to grow i think i might call back because i have had spotting once-twicw a day for nearly 4 weeks and ive done what they told me (no sex) and its not helping.

Yes next week . My case is different though because this is an IVF baby.

Good luck with your next scan, let me know how it goes, i will ring up the epu tomorrow and see what they see about the spotting hopefully they say come for a scan so i can see whats happening in there, i was dreading last weeks scan because of the small sac i could'nt bare another loss.

Alex's sac in first Tri was growing slower than she was and they prepared me for a miscarriage. I was spotting too so I thought that was it, really. By dating scan at 12 weeks all was perfect again xxxxx

Hi,

I also have been told I have a small sac. I was scanned at 8 weeks by my OB and was told I had bleeding in the womb, I got scanned again at 10 weeks and they said I had a small sac and the baby was pretty squashed in there. I was told I should be optimistic but a small sac can mean the likely hood of a miscarriage. I was told to come back in two weeks for a scan but be prepared I may miscarry before then.

2 weeks was today, I am 12 weeks and 1 day pregi, I got scanned today.
My bleeding in the womb has reduced but my Sac is still small so the baby does not have a lot of fluid around it but the baby has grown and is growing at the right rate and has a strong heart rate. They couldn't carry out the NT scan as not enough fluid.

My scans were shown to a specialist and he advised, he has seen worst cases than mine and the baby goes full term and comes out okay, however going by what they see they still think the pregnancy could not go full term due to the low fluid etc but it is too early to give a clearer picture.

They will check my 12 week blood results but I will need to have another scan in 3 weeks times with a specialist, they will then provide me with my options as in how they can carry out testing to check for downs etc.

I would say remain positive, we were expecting bad news today but the baby is still fighting on, all you can do is remain positive and I hope your cases are not as bad as mine. If you have any concerns speak to your OB get the relevant testing, I think until you are not further along you wont get much answers.

Good luck to all of us!

Ive ordered a doppler hopefully i can find and monitor the heartbeaf if i cant find it i will probably end up a nervous wreck i hope i can though, i hope you both get good news at your scans they wont recan me til 12 weeks i havent even got a midwife yet x
