So Upset!!! Midwife just called me stupid!!!

acctually thinking of it, how does she acctually no baby is a boy? iv had 3 mws and was under consultant care so all my notes are on the drs system and none of them new the sex of my baby theyv all asked me if i knew... they dont write the sex down :S esp in your maternity notes....

I really don't know....as it is hospital policy for them not to tell you. I assumed maybe they checked because the baby might be larger....but I honestly can't say how she knows, I am going to ask the consultant midwife, if she ever gets back to me....I know I have to go for a growth scan at some point too.

I was going to say the same thing, how does she know its a boy? I dont have it anywhere in my notes. I am guessing only my sonographer would have known that info.

Hunny, its awful how she spoke to you. Dont let her upset you and you should be able to have the birth that you want to. If you have delivered larger babies before without any complications then I dont see what difference it makes if you are at home or in the hospital!

Take no notice of her and get a second opinion xx

shes probably just guessing its a boy! i cant see how she would know otherwise if you dont know! stupid cow! hope she gets a bollocking! lol. xx

She might just be guessing or even saying it to scare you into not having a home birth. My son was large (9lb7) and I did have a hemmoragh but I don't know if that was to do with his weight or the time it took to deliver the placenta. Regardless, if you have had 2 straightforward births prior then I don't see why you shouldn't be able to have a home birth. x

oh my god!!! you are far from stupid! get complaining, shes the stupid bitch!!thats made me so angry!! you dont want her delivering your baby! get changing midwives! hope your ok =(

Wow! U should do ur research and get a new mw asap! My family thinks I'm stupid too! But my midwife is awesome! WE have also chosen to give birth to our twins at home:0) my friend just had a 9lb8oz baby without complications naturally so do whts right for u!

That is great :) Think my midwife would die on the spot if she came across a twin home birth

Goodness, so sorry your MW is such a tactless moron. Make a complaint and see someone else, you certainly don't have to take that xxx

I think the purpose of having a midwife just went out her window. She should have not call herself a midwife

Ignore her. I would definitely put a complaint in too, no woman should be made to feel like that.

oh dear that is bad ..... sorry I think it is unacceptable xxx

thats disgusting hun..poor you! il be writting a letter of complaint

ignore her and request a new MW hunni, my last ws a 10lb 12oz baby with no complications and im having this baby at home, the "risk" of shoulder dystocia is no higher with a larger baby if the mother doesnt have GD
check this site https://www.bigbaby.org.uk/ and with a big baby its even more important that the mother is as comfortable in her surroundings as possible to make the birth as easy as possible. sounds like your MW is just not very supportive of Homebirths at all so you would want a new one anyway before it got to time for having the baby,

This baby measured on the 75Centile at our growth scan so im expecting at 9lber roughly but i know that can be out by 30% so im fully expecting a larger baby than that even though my bump looks small and measures on dates my last one did too lol

Thats awful to hear hun, nasty midwives like that give the profession a bad name, makes me mad when majority are so so nice. Like the others have said, she shouldn't have knowledge of the gender as midwives are not told nor is it important for a midwife to know at all. Its not like the sonographers have contact with the community midwives either.

:)

I wouldn't want her negativity around me while I was in labor, and certainly when I was delivering. How awful. And to spoil the surprise by telling you the gender of your LO!!! RUDE!!!

I hope you are able to find a better professional to work with as you approach your due date.

Asides from the MW being out of order, as others are mentioned there is no where on the notes about the baby's gender. Also I'm not sure if the sonographer makes a note anywhere - on the print out about my scan measurements, it just says genitalia not examined. We (me and OH) couldn't spot anything during the examination so really sounds like your MW is making it up. Please complain about her suggesting or telling the gender too.

My sonographer was actually one of the community midwives, obviously she has the training.....
