Squeezing eyes shut when blinking.

My 4 year old has started squeezing his eyes tight shut when he blinks. It's not every time he blinks, he does still do some normal blinking. It's still all the time though, every couple of blinks. It's really worrying me now that he is going to be made fun of. I haven't said anything to him about him doing it, I just don't know what to do about it. I will get him an eye check appointment to rule that out but I don't think it's his eyes, it's more like a habit or tic.
Anyone have any experience?

Tics are really common in kids that age and they almost always grow out of them. The best thing to do is ignore it and don't draw attention to it. He probably doesn't realise that he's doing it. I had a few similar things when I was younger but they never came to anything.
