Ok so this is my first planned C section. I am very apprehensive about it. I am only 18 weeks but have a hospital consultation in 2-3 weeks time. I had a bad arterial bleed with my son and nearly died it was awful, so c sec it is! What happens ladies? From start to finish? Am I being a bit ott?

This will be my third, first was emergency and very traumatic. 2nd planned. What a difference. I had to get to the hospital two hours in advance and was hooked and monitored Ivs put in. When it was time to go back I was taken back while dh got his scrubs on. I was given epidural, then then hubby was escorted in. A sheet was put in front of me I said when are they going to start and before I knew they were showing me my sweet little one. I think it was maybe 20-30 minutes from the time I was wheeled in until her birth time. I was very anxious at this point and started to panic just because of what happened during my first one, they gave me a little something. I mellowed out and got stiched back up whil hubby was with baby doing all the weighing etc. (I think had I not panicked they would have put her on my chest for skin to skin) I was then wheeled into recovery with dh and dd ;) not going to lie I am a bit nervous for round three, but that's just how I am. Planned was beyond a 100% better experience.

Ive got my second c section tomorrow so hoping it goes as well as my first did. Its changed a bit now i will only be in for one night as they try and get you recovered quicker by giving you energy drinks and mobilising you sooner. I will be in for 7am tomorrow and get taken to the ward where the midwives will check me over and the anaesthetist will talk to me then its just waiting for my slot. Last time i had to walk to theatre sit down and get my cannula in my hand then sit on the edge of the bed and they did the spinal anaesthetic and as soon as it starts working you lie down and they put the screens up and you dont feel them put the catheter in. You get hooked up to all the monitors and they ask you if you can feel anything to make sure you are completely numb and then they bring your partner in. You get a strange feeling when they are getting the baby out but not painful, then once baby is out they sew you up and you go to recovery and get to have skin to skin and go back to the ward.
