When can i stop sterilizing bottles? my sterilizer is going wrong and i dont really want to buy a new one! my lil man is nearly 5 months and i have heard that it is ok from about 5 months to stop as long as i use boiling water to wash them. others have said that i need to sterilize until 1 year?????

what did you girls do?
thanks. xx

I will stop around a year.

I have been told even now for bottles you need to sterilise them until your LO is a year even though you don't have to for spoons bowls or juice cups etc. :flower:

Obviously my kids are much older, so we had different guidelines, and I stopped sterilising at 6 months which was the recommendation back then.

I stopped always sterilising them at 6 months. Now I only do them if I'm making ahead.

I heard it was a year too, but we have been pretty lax in the last week or so with sterilising her bottles, and yesterday we officially decided to stop. Just doesn't seem much point when we're making up her formula at room temperature, she's sucking her hands, her feet, her toys, she has unsterilised spoons going in her mouth, and we lick and stick her dummies. Also, when she's weaning, you don't exactly shove a carrot in the Milton before you cook it, or soak a banana before you mash it, so that too will have bacteria. I know a mum who only ever fairy liquided her LO's bottles, and he's been a healthy baby, so I'm happy to stop now.
