Hello ladies...starting a new thread for May. We have great things happening with IUIs, fertility specialist appointments, some of us are recovering from miscarriages or surgeries & finally getting a green light to try again.

I am very excited to start a new May thread. I am sure we will see some :bfp:! It is about time we do!

We have a pretty decent following, but newbies are always welcome. We are all in different stages of our journey but here to support each other in what ever way possible!

I am on my first monitored IUI with the FS. I have had 3 clomid cycles, & 3 clomid + IUI cycles timed with opks that have all failed. But I am really confident that with the extra meds, monitoring, & a trigger, I am sure to get there in time for Father's Day!

I'm here. I am currently taking a break from the fertility treatments to let my body clean out before going forward with IVF in July/Aug. 4 failed IUIs with clomid. I'll be stalking more then reporting the next couple of cycles because my chances for a BFP are pretty slim. Taking a break from the temping and monitor as well.

FXed for all the good things happening this month on this group!! I have a feeling it will be a good month!

Hopping over here too. As most of us are taking the next step in our ttc journey - seeking out to RE's, getting IUI's, IVF's, or just finally getting back to TTC after m/c like myself, or just being more aware of our bodies and more educated on fertility in general, I'm confident that we'll definitely see some BFP's this month!

Question for your Clomid girls - I'm not on any meds but I've been overdosing myself on soy products this cycle (started at CD1) and I can already feel o pain today at CD8. OPK is negative but I'm wondering if all that soy (supposed to act like a minor dose of Clomid) is making me o earlier or leading up to a more intense o? Does Clomid make you feel o pain earlier?

Clomid can make you O earlier...it really depends on the person. I think it acts as a stabilizer...so if you O early, it pushes it back...if you O late it brings it closer. But it can def make you have a more intense O.

That's an interesting thought. For a few months last year I stopped eating meat and supplemented with soy. I never put it together until reading your post but around that time for the first time ever I started experiencing mittelschmerz. I didn't even know what it was, it was initially so intense, I googled to see what could be wrong. The ovulation pain lasted about 6 months. This cycle ovulation came early and with no pain, I would have missed it if not for a few days of what I thought was prematurely early ewcm.

What makes it interesting is that I've tried as hard as I can to totally eliminate soy from my diet to help my fertility (I know there are different schools of thought on this) and coincidentally no soy and no ovulation pain this month.

Hi everyone! I am hopping over from the April thread. I know May is going to be a great month for everyone here. So many of us are taking that next big step and I have a feeling we are going to see lots of BFP's!

I have been ttc for one year now, I had an early m/c back in December. I have an appointment scheduled for next week with an RE and I am super excited to figure out what is going on. My OB refused to run tests on me or an SA for my hubby, he wanted to wait 6 months after my m/c. I keep having a super short LP, only 7-9 days so I decided to not waste any more time and booked an appointment with the RE.

Erin, hope you check in soon...how was your IUI?

I am very interested to hear as well. She has probably been running around crazy! It feels that way some times.

I forgot to tell everyone for my birthday my husband bought me NY Yankee pacifiers & a bib...too cute! Pretty soon I will be using them!!!

Thanks for sharing your experience wit soy, Wantaminime! I did some googling and it looks like soy can either help or inhibit ovulation so I'm totally confused!

Oops! I got your name confused. Sorry about that! Looks like I'm just a confused soul all the way around today!

No worries, I want a mini me! Hence, the long name.

I didn't think much about soy either way, I'd always just assumed a low fat, plant based protein would be healthy. I didn't intend to do it or know at the time about it's correlation with fertility.

I bought a bottle of dhea about a month ago, popped 1, then thought maybe I should ask about it before I start taking it. I never ended up asking because I had an ultrasound and before someone could explain the scope of it to me, a lady working in the dr's office said I had fibroids and endometrium. I totally freaked out, googled like crazy and saw it was perhaps excessive estrogen (which can be directly attributable to soy). In the end I spoke to someone who could read the u/s better and told me I was fine and had nothing to worry about in regards to that and most women have some tiny fibroids in a place that won't interfere, etc. all is fine, but now I'm scared of soy. But probably unjustifiably so, I missed my ovulation day so I couldn't get a good reading via blood on my peak estrogen and everything else seems to indicate I have normal levels.

I'm going through the month long re work up, so as I get little pieces of the puzzle I cannot stay away from insanely investigating what each piece could mean. And the answers you find on google are scary!

What made you want to supplement with soy? Are you not ovulating normally or trying to hyper stimulate to mock clomid? Are you trying to stay natural rather than go with the meds? I've not tried it, or anything yet but have a feeling I'll be prescribed it soon if I want to try that route. I can't decide if I should try it or keep up the natural a bit longer.

Adorable! That is very sweet of him!

I did find a 6 mo. overall for Easter clearance at Target last week. It's pink and it says "mommy's little bunny". I picked it up and I asked DH "would it be wrong to put this on a boy?" Then I said, "oh what the heck I'm going to buy it! It was only $1.49 any way!"

Beaglemom - are you doing acupuncture this cycle?

No, I am not. Nothing against it...but with the longer commute to my appts, I just thought it would cause me more stress to drive for an appt & then a day or so later using my lunch for accupuncture. So I just decided not to do it.

I too have a large fibroid (just one I think). It grew with my pregnancy last year that ended in a m/c, but I think it has since shrunken back to size. It's not pushing into the uterine cavity so my RE is not concerned and does not think it needs to be dealt with.

I'm eating more soy just as a natural way of boosting my o. My RE said that stronger o also leads to stronger uterine lining, and later stronger progesterone. I read about women taking higher doses of soy isoflavones (200 mg per day) to mimic Clomid from CD3 or CD5 till CD9 but I'm a little scared of doing even that. I thought eating soy couldn't hurt especially if I buy the organic kind. We'll see what happens.

I also bought a bottle of DHEA after reading about women taking it in preparation for IVF. But then I read about the possible side effects and decided against it. I'm already taking 10+ different supplements a day I feel bad for my kidneys!

10?! Jeez girl, that's dedication :) I started uniquinol recently and I take epo half my cycle but that's it!
I'm curious to know about the soy isoflavens effects, best of luck.

Hi girls, hopping over to the May thread! I'm so happy to see everyone who's popped over so far. :) I love our group.

I just thought I'd report in real quick before I get back to work... I'll copy/paste what I just posted in my 35+ thread...

The IUI this morning went good. Took DH in for his "deposit" and then went back about 2 hours later for the procedure. My RE was literally in and out so fast. It was maybe 3 minutes, as far as the actual procedure itself. It wasn't even that uncomfortable. I've had pap smears that were more uncomfy than that. I laid there about 10-15 minutes, and then we were done.

I will say though, I've been pretty bloated and uncomfortable ever since doing the shot, and about an hour after the IUI, that discomfort got worse. Not so much the bloating, but the lower abdominal discomfort. I don't know if I just O'd soon after the procedure or if it was just caused by something else. I was sitting in a meeting super uncomfy and then at some point I felt like something was comin' out down there (sorry TMI), so I got up and went to the restroom. I wiped a ton of EWCM, like I've never seen before in my life. Or at least, I'm assuming that's what it was....? Anyone know anything about that?? Anyway, finally now, about five hours later, I think the pain and discomfort is starting to subside.

Erin - I responded to you on the other thread - but for everyones info, that was what I experienced as well with my IUIs - the crazy discomfort after the fact. Doc said it is ovulation pain enhanced by the meds (clomid and ovidril.) So you now know that you ovulated at the right time!

Thanks moni, it helps to hear that! I had a feeling it might be O pain (it was pretty bad!), but it seemed too coincidental that it would happen so perfectly right after the IUI. I'm glad to hear that your Dr said that though, and that you had a similar experience after the fact! I was starting to wonder if there was something wrong with the way they washed the sperm or something! Thanks again!! :flower:

Oh, beaglemom, I meant to say, I'm so glad to hear that the follistim shot went well! Although sorry for the bruising and discomfort after... I did hear that could happen if you're sensitive like that in general. But all worth it!!! Super exciting. :)
