Stitches not falling out?

My dog got fixed over two months ago, and his stitches have not fallen out yet. They told me at the vet that they would fall out on their own. Is this normal?

Your dog needs to go back to the vet ASAP !

Very occasionally dissolving stitches don't dissolve....but if they stay there, and the skin grows over them they could cause a really nasty infection / abcess.

Thank you so much for responding. I will be making an appointment asap. The skin has not started to grow over them yet, but I'm glad I saw that they hadn't come out yet. I don't often check out his private bits lol but in this case, I'm glad I did.
