Can you just go into a jobcentre and do your tax credits application there? I cant be arsed phoning up (hate using phone) but was going to nip in when I am in town tomorrow.
backdate tax credits? they backdate for a total of 12 weeks/until your child was born if its less than twelve weeks. IF you fight them for it.
Otherwise they will just backdate the 12 weeks (if you arsed around getting your application in) and if they see no good reason why you didnt send your form within a reasonable time they won't give you it.
I made OH phone up for us they asked a few questions, sent us out the forms and we sent them back, its been 10 weeks now and havent recieved anything just been told theyre a bit busy with the renewals
You'l need to call the Tax credits helpline 0845 300 3900- Giev your NI number and request for a Tax credit claim pack. These packs are only available via helpline or local tax office MAY have them- not garanteed. They dont send these out willy nilly no more.
The lines are abs jammed, as someone else mentioned- busy with ppl panicking renewing their claims.
The general rule of backdating is that its 3months- anything more than that you will need a good reason and appeal. This will take some time and not garnateed you will get the result you want.
