the sleep deprivation was the hardest for me, and also trying to get her settled, she was a little madem! lol

what do you wish you new about babies that you had to find out yourself?
everything! no one can prepare you for whats to come, as every babies different, i had it harder than i thought as Lily was really hard work at first.

did you have any problems doing something to do with LO?
just settling her after feeds, that was it :)

what did you find hard getting used to when LO arrived?
the sleepless nights

what do you wish you new about babies that you had to find out yourself?
as above, i knew it would be hard but never expected it to be as hard as it was for first few months

did you have any problems doing something to do with LO?
Connor has a milk allergy but we didnt find out until he was 4 months so those first 4 months consisted of him screaming in pain, constant runs and projectile vomiting during and after every feed

what did you find hard getting used to when LO arrived?
The lack of sleep... Nobody can ever prepare you for how tiring it is.

what do you wish you new about babies that you had to find out yourself?
everything, same as Jennifer Anne! Its the hardest thing in the world, and you have to discover everything.

did you have any problems doing something to do with LO?
At first bathing, and dealing with his colic. I'm ok now, ive learnt what helps him and stuff :)

what did you find hard getting used to when LO arrived?

Sleepless nights. You will get used to it though, and your LO will sleep for longer as they get older.

Listening to her cry. Breaks my heart every time.

Bathing her. They're slippery!

Trust your instinct. If the temp guide says 2 blankets but you think your LO could do with another, try it. If you have just fed your LO the reccomended amount but they still look hungry, offer them more milk. Parenting is about trial and error and babies dont work on textbook rules. You are there mother and you know what's best (but be responsible obviously).

Sometimes babies cry because they are tired. They have been fed, winded, changed and they are warm enough and not hurt and they still cry. If you've seen to all of their needs, try leaving them in their room for 5 minutes and see if they'll go to sleep on their own. I know there's this bullshit doctor saying it harms kids, but a few minutes of crying wont harm anyone and it always works for me.

Breastfeeding. I thought it would be a breeze but I had real bad problems with it. Not everybody does though and there are some perks - weight loss for one, and convenience. And it DID get better (even though I didn't believe anybody when they said it did).

what did you find hard getting used to when LO arrived?
lack of sleep. And night feeds.
what do you wish you new about babies that you had to find out yourself?
EVERYTHING. Haha I'm still learning.

Breastfeeding. I just can't seem to get it right.

totally agree with this! Lily will scream and scream if i keep trying to help her get to sleep, if i walk out of the room for even 3 minutes and leave her crying, by the time i go back in shes fast asleep, but if i had of been faffing about with her it would take about half an hour.
some will say its wrong but like kate said its only a few minutes xx

i like this thread :) plus you all have gorgeous baba's!! xx

what did you find hard getting used to when LO arrived?

I couldn't just pop out anywhere, I had to sort her and all her stuff out first...when she was newborn i wouldn't go out unless she was just fed winded and changed because i was so nervous about doing it out! And I couldn't go anywhere with OH for just half an hour without organising a babysitter and expressed milk...I used to be such an independant person so I've found loss of freedom the hardest. But she's worth it :D

what do you wish you new about babies that you had to find out yourself?

Everything! I think parenting is finding out for yourself what works for you! It's one massive learning curve....

did you have any problems doing something to do with LO?

Winding her when she was tiny. Tried some infacol, it works wonders :D

what did you find hard getting used to when LO arrived?
Getting into a routine the first couple of days was hard expecially as I was so tired but we're in a good one now, and that I now have someone else to get up and out the house too aswell as myself lol, twice we've tried to be on time somewhere but it just hasn't worked out yet.

what do you wish you new about babies that you had to find out yourself?
Tbh I've had alot of experience with babies so I honestly can't think of anything that I wish I'd known... YET. Once she's a bit bigger I'm sure she'll surprise me. You just kinda learn and pick up things naturally as you go along, it all just sort of comes to you!

did you have any problems doing something to do with LO?
The first time I bathed her I just hated it and had to have my OH take over, she screamed and screamed and I hated it because she cried so much, it was pretty tricky to do aswell but already she's ok and it's easier to bath her.

what did you find hard getting used to when LO arrived? The lack of sleep he has colic and I used to be pacing for hours trying to soothe him.

what do you wish you new about babies that you had to find out yourself? I wish I knew that they wouldnt break :D. The smallest cough and knock to Aidan and I was a nervous wreck but I soon learnt how to handel him and not worry so much

did you have any problems doing something to do with LO? Yes the worst problem I had was breastfeesing him. I wanted to do it so much but I never knew how hard it was
xx

That everything took sooo long, just popping to the shop took over an hour to get ready!

what do you wish you new about babies that you had to find out yourself?

How long breastfeeding took, i was expecting each feed to be about 5 mins not sitting there for hours, not a bad thing just wasnt expecting it!

did you have any problems doing something to do with LO?

No not really, just took is as it comes and me and LO learnt a grew together. :cloud9:

Trying to remember everything whenever we went out anywhere. There is just so much stuff! Nights spent up with Robyn were hard in the beginning, the lack of sleep was quite a big factor, but we soon got used to it. We ended up co-sleeping which made things easier, I'm a light sleeper so that worked well. You couldnt just pop out anywhere quick.

what do you wish you new about babies that you had to find out yourself?
I'm not sure actually.. I think most things you just pick up naturally, call it a mothers instinct. I found myself breastfeeding for long periods of time, then Robyn would fall asleep on me, so I quickly learnt I had to make myself comfortable and get any drinks that I wanted beforehand. Ohhh and OMG the poo just goes everywhere. I don't think any nappys hold the poo in. So many clothes stained haha.

At first I wasn't brilliant at changing a nappy, of all things, I had changed nappys before, but I think it's because she was so tiny when she was newborn, I didnt want to do it too tight, but not too loose either. I quickly caught on however :) Breastfeeding was sore in the beginning with nipples getting used to it, but a cream called lamisol (I think thats the name, girls correct me if its something different) was a life saver!
