Tender upper stomach

Woke up this morning and my upper abdomen (like in the center, right under my ribcage) has been sore and really tender. I pressed on my belly and it's really hard to the touch. What is causing the upper abdominal pain? This has happened before by the way.

Just looked in the mirror in the bathroom and it even looks like the upper belly pokes out a little more than the bottom half. And looks more rounded out. Any ideas on what's going on?

How pregnant are you? My first instincts are gas/bloating.
