The July 2009 Babies

Yep. Otter outgrew his "infant" one at 5 months old. :dohh:

He's got a Sunshine Kids Radian XTSL now... love it!

GL :hugs: :flower:

Yeah, Max has a forward-facing 'Safe and Sound'. So much easier to entertain them when they can look out and see the world go by. He only just got it as we only just bought a car! After two years of not having one (child-free in a big city you're better off without), we're loving the freedom.

I still RF Otter and plan to until he reaches the weight limit for the Radian for RF (40 lbs)... then I will FF it. So far he doesn't seem to mind the RFing. I hope it stays that way!

Has anyone got their LOs big car seat yet? Ours was dispatched yesterday and should be here next week!! Shes growing far too fast!! Xx

Yeah, I got it before he was born because I found it on sale and then had a huge discount on top of it. Just hope it works in our small car.

He's still in his infant seat, as long as we can fit him in it. Just easier to put him in the car without have to struggle with a wiggling baby. We do that in the house, then take him out to the car. Plus, the carrier is really convenient when we're out shopping, and if we go out to eat (the straps keep him in, since he has a tendency to want to squirm out of seats).

Also, I caught him pulling himself up today. He also has a bruise on his head from falling over from doing so (I heard the thunk and the wail...had fallen over onto the wall). He's pretty proud of himself...gets up there and smiles big and laughs. I had the laptop on the floor and he couldn't resist crawling to it, grabbed the screen and used it to pull himself up onto his feet. He thought it was great. I was shocked he had pulled himself up to his feet already; I only thought he had managed to pull up to his knees.

He motors it well with the crawl now, too.

He'll be 8 months in a week, too. His first year is coming up pretty quick.

I've been looking into taking horseback riding vacations, and I just don't see how other people do them multiple times. The price is prohibiting. $2000-3000/person, not including the plane tickets. Now multiply that by two. That's looking close to 10k just to do one of these rides.

Ladies what weight did you FF? Soph is too long for her RF but at 8.92kg i dont wanna FF until she hits 9kg lol am i being silly? shes 9 months in 13 days. Oh the stress lolxxx

He weights 10kg now (22lb), and we just stared, but I think the instructions said from 9kg or 9months, whichever reached first. We tried rear-facing, just to see and he really looked jammed in there.

It never ceases to amaze me the way they can do things today they couldn't do yesterday - or 5 minutes ago! First birthdays aren't that far off

I know. I noticed that, too. One day they are limited to just lying in one spot, the next they are crawling.

Woke up this morning, and apparently, he was already at it, trying to pull himself up, and already fell over and bonked his head. :haha:

Re: FF -- I intend to keep Otter RF as long as possible. In the US the law is 1 yr AND 20 lbs (9.1 kg). But they are likely to raise the law to 2 yrs soon and that is the current reccommendation. Honestly, the longer you keep the RF, the safer they are.

Here is a thread about it if you are interested to know more and the details about why it is safer:

I don't think it's very safe if your kid is distracting you because he is crying because he wants to see something other than the back of the seat.

As far as making laws, the US governments need to keep their noses out of things. People can make the decisions for themselves. Sometimes I think it's just insane.

Caitlyn has her big girl car seat now and she's still RFing, she loves it :cloud9:

Hello mummyof2

Mine hates to not see people. We have a mirror in the back, but that novelty wore off long ago for him. And yes, because of his unhappiness and the distraction, we almost have gotten into accidents.

But it's LAW so one day we just might get in an accident because of him...but hey, he's safer because he's rear facing.

hey all

aaliyah is super fast crawling now :dohh: and she is in the pulling up stage now 2 all she want to do is stand :dohh: I caught her 2day tryinmg to climb on 2 the sofa, she stands in her cot as well.

she had carrots, cheese sweet potato and melon today whole pieces :BLW) she ate most of it but found some on floor and on her high chair  but she seems alot happier 2 do it her self :happydance: but she likes 2 take dessert off mummy lol

Well done Aaliyah! Won't be long before she just walks up to you one day and says, "Mummy! I'm waiting for my dinner!"

How big did you cut the peices? Or did you give her large chunks? (I'm still so worried about choking  I took a first aid course yesterday and learned the proper procedures but I think it just scared me more as they told some horror stories).

Max has his own 'special' style of crawling. He makes good speed but his tummy still touches the ground. He's pulling out loads of my hair!!! He grabs me by the hair with one hand and the mouth with the other - his hand goes into my mouth and around my lip - and WILL NOT let go. I've had to carry him to the bed and lay down with him and try to stay still until I can call for help or the novelty wears off. I'm also covered in bruises from when he bouces on my thighs or grabs my arms. My baby is a bully, lol. My cats are not impressed that they now find themselves classes as toys by Max.

Here we only have to RF till 9 months  but Caitlyn doesn't like FFing but she's an odd baby

Aww, my baby uses her tummy to shuffle! Rolls on her to belly and then shuffles to whatever she wants using her little tummy. So funny to watch

hello july mummies, i keep 4getting about this group thought id pop in b4 baby group and say morgan has cut her first tooth at last and still isnt crawling but can move at some speed comando shuffling :haha:

how is everyone x
