Well I had a great visit to the doctor today, after waiting for 1 1/2 hrs to see her.
I explained my history of irregular cycles, charts that showed no ovulation, insanely rapid weight gain, high fasting insulin levels and more, and she confirmed that put together it clearly showed PCOS and insulin resistance.
It was such an incredible RELIEF to have my self-diagnosis confirmed, to have someone say all the things I'd read and learned and knew.
She put me on Metformin, and gave me Provera to induce a bleed. She offered to start me on Clomid right away, but I wanted to give the Metformin a chance for a few months first and hopefully I'll ovulate on my own.
Hi everyone! Just started Metformin. Irregular periods... so confused
Hi there sorry to butt in but I thought I would just share my story with you, I had the same exact symptoms and diagnosis as you, also put on metformin to ovulate on my own - after 3 months nothing. You lucky your doctor suggested clomid, mine wanted to wait... I read so many success stories on metformin but it doesnt help that much when it comes to ovulation - well at least for me it didnt and I was put on 1500mg. I would suggest you go onto clomid sooner, I hate that I wasted time with the metformin but if you are in no rush then a few months shouldnt be a problem for you! Good luck - hope you get your soon! P.S I did get a period 28 days after my last AF with metformin but still no ovulation, I am now on my first month of Clomid
good luck did your hubby have an SA done too?

Thanks for sharing your story. That is pretty much what my doctor said, that she thinks I won't ovulate even on metformin without a kickstart from clomid.
However with everything going on in life atm, Clomid just wouldn't work right now, so I'm willing to give metformin a few months. I DO want to be pregnant this year though so I'm not going to wait too long!
Do keep us posted on how you are doing with the Clomid.
