The OPK Thread ---> One BFP already! x

Well I tested with the OPKs late last night after driving ALL day for work and it was a definate negative. My temps skyrocketed this morning, but I have been feeling like I am getting a cold (stuffy nose, sore throat) so I am not sure if it's due to that. I did not ask Santa for a cold, I would have rather had a lump of cole!:dohh:

Since this is really my first real cycle knowing I O'd- has anyone else experienced extremely sensitive nipples during O time? I don't want to start symptom spotting but my goodness they hurt!

Seaweed, you are right about implantation. I just had high hopes that the doctor's tests would have been more accurate earlier on. Post a pic of the positive OPK- my temp dropped on the day of my positive OPK and then spiked up so it sounds like you are about to O.

My Ovulation Chart

Get to BDing before you guys leave...or on the plane- talk about memorable :haha:

Swtshae- you can get cheap OPKs on amazon- I think it got 40 OPks and 10 HPT for $9. The ClearBlue digital one can get pricey after awhile.

Haylee- that would be very frustrating to O at different times in the cycle- hard to predict what is going on!:growlmad:

 Hey again! Finally off the plane and glad to be back!

Nik, I'm not sure whether I've ovulated or not :growlmad: got a THIRD positive OPK on the plane yesterday, and haven't been able to temp. Based on CM I would say that I probably ovulated yesterday, but the BDing continues :winkwink:

I have never experienced sensitive nipples during O time, and since I've been charting for years I've usually known my timing pretty well. Hoping it's a good sign!

If I get a fourth pos OPK :dohh: I'll post a pic, but hoping (and assuming) that won't happen!

How's everyone else doing? :dust: to all of us this month!

Thanks Nikalicious... if I don't get my BFP this month, I'll definitely be hitting up Amazon for more of them. According to several different ovulation calculators, I won't be ovulating until next week which hopefully is right because so far I've gotten negatives with the OPKs.

Hi everyone- any updates on how things are progressing for everyone? Still in the TWW at 5DPO.

Swtshae- I started using the OPKs at CD12 and didn't O until CD21! :growlmad: Based on my last cycle, I was supposed to O on CD15 or 16, but I was traveling so I am not sure if that impacted it.

Seaweed- did you confirm O yet? FX'd you did!:hugs:

Hope everyone had a great Christmas! Lots of :dust: to you all!

:hugs: Thanks Nik...I've had 2 high temps now so I think it's confirmed. Despite the pos OPK on Friday I think my wet CM ended sometime Thurs, so I'm considering myself 3-4 DPO :p So impatient!

Hi ladies hope you all had a lovely Christmas :hugs:
Good luck seaweed and nik! I hope the 2ww is being kind to you both :flow: FX'd witch is a no show x

Swtshae, I'm hoping I O in about a week too. I hope we both get our +ive opk. It will be so good to see those two dark lines :happydance:

I'm going to start testing in the next few days, it is such a guessing game when I don't O at the same time

Nik, how many opk did you use this cycle.. I am hoping 30 is enough  It must have been a shock for you to O cd21, were you starting to wonder if it was going to happen

I hope all is well, sending lots of :dust: xxx

Thanks Haylee! :flower: I was definitely surprised, but I have only been off BC since October, so I anticipated my cycles being weird after coming off of it for 10 years. I thought i was starting to get a surge around CD 14, but then negative OPKs until CD20. I lucked out the my first cycle was 30 days. If I don't get a BFP this cycle, who knows that next cycle will bring!:dohh: I think I used 13 OPKs- I'm glad I took the advice of a lot of the ladies on here and bought the ones from Amazon instead of the ClearBlue digitals.

I just went and looked at the price of clear blue digi opk :saywhat:
I didn't realize how expensive they actually were! I think I would be very disappointed if I spent all that money on them and didn't get a positive. I've been looking on the Internet at other products for if AF shows this month and I am considering pre seed and soft cups. I feel like I am getting a little carried away, and I know this is only our first "real" cycle trying but we are already desperate for our :bfp:
Sorry I just had a little rant :( I am feeling really broody tonight, I wish time could hurry up :haha: bring on the big O xx

Looking for some advice ladies. This is my first month using OPK and and I am sure I got my positive on Friday 23rd. Decided would continue to use the OPK until my next AF due and on 24th and 25th both second lines were lighter but when I used them again today the line was back to being darker again. So confused now!!!! Many thanks in advance x

Hi laurs
I am not 100% sure with this but I have read our bodies can get ready to ovulate, have a surge of LH and not actually release an egg due to stress or other reasons, therefore your body is now trying again a couple of days later. This is the only thing I can think of but I am not 100% sure. I think you should BD just in case. Good luck , i hope this is your month :flow: xx

Thanks Haylee, Spent ages waiting for my positive and now my body thinks it is funny to play tricks. Hope this is the month too. Off to break to bad knews to my hubby that his services will be required AGAIN. Think he wishes he was back at work as less exhausting:sleep: than his hols lol. All the best for 2012 hope it brings nice surprises for us all xxxx

I am right there with you Haylee! If AF comes this cycle then I think I will look into using pre-seed. DH is also on some nasty medication, so he has an appt. on the 13th to find out if it has any affect on SC. Even though we have only been TTC for 2 months, might as well ask now instead of trying to figure things out later if it takes us longer to TTC. FX'd for you Haylee that this will be your cycle! :hugs:

I have been having crazy vivid dreams for the last week about babies, PFB, etc. and cramping the last couple of days. Trying not to symptom spot, but it's hard not to wonder what is going on! I think I am going to test at 13DPO, which would be the 3rd.

Laurs- OPKs can be tricky especially being new to them- I know they were frustrating to me at first. Do you have irregular cycles? It seems odd that you got a positive OPK the day before AF was supposed to show up. I have heard of people getting positive OPKs when they are pregnant.

What time of day are you using the OPKs?

Hi nikalicious not due af till around 5th Jan. My cycles were very reg right up until last month when I ended up being 5 days late should have been 30th Nov but came 5th Dec and actually thought I might have been preg. Wasnt to be so decided to start using OPK tests this month to give me a better understanding of my cycle. If my pos OV test on Friday was acurate it means that I actually OV 9 days later than I thought I would. I am going to stick with them and if I dont get BFP in Jan hopefully my Jan cycle will mirror my Dec one. It just shows that for all the years of thinking we know our bodies we really dont. Am going to try and resist testing till my af due and if I can hold on beyond that I will even tryto resist up to 5 days later after what happened with last one to avoid disappointment if not to be. I had been using the OPK early evening at around 6pm when I got in from work but have had to vary it over last few days due to being out and about. FX that wont have to worry about using them for much longer. xxxxx

Nik- I really hope that the medication isn't affecting your OH's SC, I hope it goes well and you get some positive answers :flow: I am so bad for symptom spotting chick lol I think it's impossible for us to not SS  I find myself doing it when I know I'm not pregnant lol. What type of test will you be using when you test, I've got everything crossed for you!

Do you get affected by your baby dreams? When I have them they can affect me for the whole day, Feeling like I've lost something??? :(

laurs- I agree with you chick if you did Ovulate 9 days later I would definitely hold out a few extra days before you test, and keep an open mind that AF could be due 9 days later than expected :hugs: :hugs: we are here to help pass time whilst your waiting. This is why I love bnb. I love meeting people and chatting and having a journal on here to just ramble about all things baby that OH probably doesn't need to hear about.

Do any of you lovelies have journals? Xx

Nik, we'll be testing the same day! (If I hold out that long, that is -- I'm expecting AF around the 3rd.) Eeeek! Fingers crossed for both of us!!

I'm trying not to symptom spot, but...yeah. It's hard. The only thing that helps is telling myself that it doesn't matter what symptoms I have...it's not like I get partial credit if I have all the symptoms but a BFN or my period comes! And so many women have zero symptoms (the prevalence for each one individually is no higher than like 10-20%) so I really could be pregnant or not either way.

Also, I'm definitely inventing symptoms...yesterday I thought I smelled implantation bleeding...but...no evidence of it otherwise (plus it was only CD 5). So I'm definitely crazy

:hugs: Nik, I hope you find out that the medication hasn't been affecting your husband's SC...or that, if it has, there's a really easy way to fix it!

:hugs: Haylee, I don't have a journal, but I'm on here so much now that maybe I should start one? I'll let you know if I do!

Hi Haylee. I will def try and hold out on the testing but it's the little voice in my head that says go on do it that I have to ignore lol:devil: I appreciate you all taking my time to answer my questions and this site is a god send. I dont have a journal yet but def going to think about setting one up xxxx

Seaweed- I am right there with you hun! :hugs:Because I O'd late, I think AF should arrive on the 3rd or 4th. I had to laugh when you said you smelled implantation bleeding. :haha: I was very emotional and bloated yesterday and have been having cramps pretty consistently since I O'd. DH has been asking almost everyday when I'll know- I think I shared too much about the whole process- I don't want him to be deflated if it's BFN.

Seaweed- how are your temps? Mine continue to rise and have pretty much gone up every day since I O'd.

My Ovulation Chart

I will probably test with a FRER on my official test date. Luckily I don't have any in the house so I won't be tempted before then. I only have the Wondo cheapies around.

Haylee- the dreams don't affect me too much. We haven't been trying that long and despite the temping and OPKs, we have a pretty laid-back approach to TTC. If it happens great, if it doesn't, we'll keep trying. For me it's about learning what the heck my body is doing right now. I think it would be different if I had come off BC a year ago and knew what to expect during O time. But going right off BC to TTC, it has definitely been a guessing game. DH and I are still young too (me 26, DH 30), so we have time :)

I don't have a TTC journal, but I think I may start one if we don't get a BFP this cycle.

Hopefully we won't even have to worry about the medication DH is on if I get my BFP this cycle! FX!

So question for you ladies about my appointment tomorrow- If they do a PAP and I am pregnant, does that have any affect? I haven't done any research on it yet, but I thought I would ask you ladies your thoughts. This is my first appointment with my new doctor and first appointment with any doctor since TTC so I want to make sure I cover anything/everything I need. I am very much a planner when it comes to things like this! DH thinks I'm crazy.:winkwink:

I did a google search about pap smears and pregnancy and just read one or two pages, and it sounds like there might be cause for concern -- both in terms of the pap interfering with the development of the embryo/blastocyte and because being pregnant might impact your results. I would definitely let them know right upfront that there is a possibility you may be about 3-4 weeks pregnant. If you have never had an abnormal one they may tell you to skip it. You could even ask over the phone before you come in.

Maybe smelling non-apparent IB is actually TWO symptoms in one: IB and superhuman sense of smell? Seriously, glad you got a kick out of that one. I did too.

My temp went up a bit this morning, but I'm missing a few post-ov temps due to travel so it's a little hard to see a pattern. ( My Ovulation Chart ) Since we flew east I think it's more likely that it's just my body adjusting to the new time zone (since 6:30 here is hours earlier at home, which would cause my temp to be artificially low if I understand correctly). When I got that temp this morning my brain went OOH TRIPHASIC?!?!?! but again, that's just the crazy talking.

My husband has been super calm about the whole TTC process...I asked him about it and he said, "I just think it would be realistic to assume that this is going to take a few months, or more." Which is true, and it's super helpful that he has that perspective, but occasionally I wish he were a little closer to my level of excitement! I think it's for the best though, and I know he'll be ecstatic if/when we get our BFP.

I saw another thread by someone who got a really deceptively BFP-looking evap on a Wondfo strip, was super excited, and then couldn't get any more positives... it made me wonder whether there might be a way of getting a FRER in this country!

I have never had an abnormal pap, so will probably just skip it first this visit. If they insist, I will re-schedule it for after AF so there isn't an issue. If smelling IB isn't superhuman, then I don't know what is ;)

I did the same exact thing about triphasic!! I looked at my temps and thought- wow is this normal? Googled it and have slightly gotten my hopes up, although studies show that less 4% of charts in woman that ended up pregnant had a triphasic temp increase. Glad to know we can be crazy together! :happydance:

I think it's good to have balance when TTC, that way you have at least someone who is rational! :) My hubby is usually the calm one about everything, but he is definitely excited about this. When i got an evap positive with the Wondo and told him what it was, he was so angry at the company that they would create a product that would give people false hope.

None of this "if" you get a BFP! Think positive! :flower:

What country are you in that you can't get FRER? Why can't you order them online?

Yeah, unfortunately I think I also remember reading that a lot of women show an increase over their LP even if they are not pregnant. (I have always stopped temping after ov is clear, since I was never TTC before, so I don't know whether it's typical for me or not!) BUT I hope it is a good sign for both of us!! :dust:

I'm on vacation in South America at the moment...I'm sure there are FRER tests somewhere, and that I could have one shipped if I were staying longer, but since I'm only here for another week or so I don't think there's much sense in that. Maybe I'll poke around a drugstore or two and see what they have...or I could ask at our hotel I suppose...awkward but maybe hilarious? :p I'll only do it if a Wondfo comes out positive, I guess.

Regarding "if"/"when", just don't want to jinx it I guess, or take things for granted.
But on that note, you know a thought I had earlier today? Assuming we all have healthy children sometime soon (which I hope and believe will happen!!), it will be hard to hope that we had gotten that BFP earlier, because then our child would have been a totally different person! I don't know if this makes sense, but to me it was heartening in a "things will happen when they are meant to happen" way...
