Lettuce, I feel your pain, I had two tyres slashed a while ago, I knew who it was tho, it was my own brother! The police said there was nothing they could do coz we couldn't prove it. Only thing we could do was move house again and hope he wouldn't find us. Stupid family!

MIL - we have always got on brilliantly, you have not interfered and have been a lovely MIL - until last night.

There are several reasons your daughter (the horrific sister in law) is not going to be Pud's godmother:-
1) she doesn't deserve it. She has put us through too much stress over the last 2 years
2) being godparent is a privilege, not a right
3) she is Wiccan/Pagan. While I have no problem with how she chooses to conduct her religious/spiritual beliefs, we have chosen to bring Pud up as a christian. As the role of a godparent is to assist the child through christian beliefs that she no longer holds, it is not appropriate that she be given this role.

To say that you will refuse to attend the christening if SIL is not godparent is childish, bullying and above all blackmail, and makes no difference to our decision. If you don't want to come - don't come. If you are petty enough to miss important events in your only grandchild's life because of this, then that is your choice. We get this every time we make a decision that SIL doesn't like, and you and she throw your toys out the pram. We are adults - respect our decision. If you continue, the christening will be cancelled and Pud will be left to do it herself when she's old enough to choose her own godparents (MIL's worse fear!) - and I tell you now - it still won't be satan-in-law.

You have just managed to ruin a good relationship with your daughter-in-law, and DH is upset and horrified that you would stoop so low.

Half of ohs family is horrified that we aren't having Flynn christened, (not one of them has been to church since I've known them!) I'm an atheist and dh doesn't express an opinion do it would be pointless, sil's family are devout catholic, I won't even go there lol.
