Those who dont let you lo see/watch the tv...

Lola loves Disney jr and if it's brainwashing her then so be it,I will buy all the Disney stuff, take her to Disney world, let her watch all the films.partly bcoz I feel Disney is part of growing up and mostly bcoz I'm obsessed with Disney anyway :haha: xx

did you even look at any of the information i presented? Why do you find it humorous?

Yes, I did. I'm 24 years old and have seen those disney movies hundreds of times each and not ONCE did I notice any of that stuff, I highly doubt my 3-15 (or whatever age) child is going to notice. (And by notice, the only ones I think are credible are the ones with the 'penis' in the little mermaid - but seriously? Come on.)

Plus, I don't think I'm going to rely on what to show my children based upon youtube videos, especially since the producer can't spell.

I'm sorry but I wasn't trying to offend you, I hope I didn't. I just don't think subliminal messages are going to make my 3 year old want to have sex.

its not just youtube videos. i can show you much more evidence if you'd like. Read thru this in it's entirety and then let me know what you think / how i am wrong, okay?

It's rather long, but that's only because there is soooo much information.

I don't necessarily think you're "wrong". I understand the media tries to subliminally get you to buy their products, ect - but I hope my child (like myself) can make her own decisions based upon her own likes and not what's shown on tv.

I wouldn't have bought a 7up just because there was a cute kid on it. I wouldn't buy axe just because it subliminally says 'sex' on it. That's silly.

Do you think they put the word "sex" there by accident? Is it for fun? Why do they do this?
is it really for nothing? why do they spend millions of dollars in advertising and researching new ways to advertise this way if it really has zero effect on the consumer at all? Please tell me why they do this i would like to know

I've said that I agree there are subliminal messages in things. I said that I wouldn't buy something because of it. I don't know why they do it, it doesn't bother me because it doesn't affect me. (Like I said, I've never noticed those things pointed out ever, I've never bought axe because of the bottle, or a 7up because of a baby on the poster.)

you are missing the point. lets agree to disagree now because im getting tired. happy consuming i guess!

I watched all the youtube videos. The Spobegbob one was ridiculous. The others...meh...

I do agree that there is subliminal messages but, as humans we like to see patterns in thins. It's how our brains work. I do not think that the dust cloud in The Lion King says sex. Things like that are silly. We see faces and words in shapes because our brains like to make sense of stuff.

I have seen the Disney sex videos before and also agree it has no impact (there is also one with wizard of oz in the background someone is hanging) I have never noticed them and its taken someone looking into it way too much to notice it. Ask any sex addict why and I doubt they will blame it on Disney! X

Lizzie watches cbeebies in the morning...she really only loves Show Me and Waybuloo...and then Night Garden in the evening. Occasionally, like if she's up super early or feeling unwell, we will have a few others (thankfully we have avoided Me Too for a while :haha:) I think these programmes are lovely...and fully happy for her to watch them. She doesn't see any adult tv, occasionally a cooking show, but that is it. I would never have a soap or suchlike on in the background when she's around, and I will be the same with ally (who isn't interested in beebies ;)) I <3 Rastamouse, personally

I am not a kindle girl. I love book, their smell, their feel...the whole joy of opening a new tome. Kindle Luddite and proud!

Like Cattia, my parents were very strict with what we watched, and I respect them forthat. There was nothing that could be deemed 'brain rot', which my Dad applied to almost everything....and my mum had a real thing for growing up too quickly, glamorisation of violence, sex, drugs etc that are common in everyday films and tv shows. We tended to watch BBC kids dramas like Box of Delights, Narnia, Railway Children. Fab!

So, tv in moderation here...and content screened.

I did moan, though, as being the only person not to see Baywatch, 90210 or even Pretty Woman (and I was quite old then!)

I also think that the music channel can be one of the worst! I work in a primary school and have several times heard them singing 'chains and whips excite me', the school disco...the girls all try and copy the 'sexy' moves they see in music videos!!

Now that is bad ^^

I think as long as you're sensible with your choice of programmes on TV, theres no problem with watching a bit.

With regards to the Disney films, I'm sure I read somewhere/watched something that said it was the screen artists put 'rude' things in as a laugh....but 99/100 people don't notice them & tbh I don't believe the whole sublimininal messages of 'sex' to kids. If that were the case then I would be a sex addict myself, which I'm not, (much to my DH's disappointment!) since I grew up on all the Disney films & still watch them.

I think what's so amusing is your choice of 'evidence' to suggest there are subliminal messages in kids programmes/advertising.
Those videos where hilarious, you can't possibly take them seriously, even if they may have a point.

Knowing how many geeky men with a childish sense of humour work in the animation industry, I think most of those things were put in as an office joke rather than with any sinister intent. It sounds just like something my husband and his colleagues would do. :dohh:
