Wow this thread has given me a right giggle :)

I see what you mean though MommaCat, my son saw a can of coke in Asda the other day, came home, cut the sugar into neat lines and hoovered that shit up. Next minute, the baby's humping the cat, Jack's high as a kite and I'm a quivering wreck of sexual frustration thanks to all those damn sexy ads on Beebies. Jesus what a day.

Sophia is on my lap - when I pushed play she immediately turned to watch. What subliminal message did you just subject my child to?!

this has to be the best thing i've seen in a long time.

I'm so sorry to Sophia, she will now live a life of being a tv addict and not have endorphins realeased into her brain unless she sees sexy music videos.

She's in her jumparoo looking at her monkey rather sexily now. All your fault.

Joel plays the xbox...

I put on BabyTV on the xbox Sky Player for him and he changed it to 'A Christmas Carol' all by himself today, tried him on a round of COD once but he wasn't very good

He knows that the big sliver button turns it on and he KNOWS when the batteries have been taken out, he wont put up with that

My grandparents keep telling us off for not stopping LO from watching TV :/ something to do with the flickering affecting their eyes.

I don't mind for a few minutes here and there though. She loves anything bright and her eyes dart from the TV to the laptop to the fire to the light ^^

I wouldn't agree with it being a childs main source of entertainment but that's about it. X

Mommacat.
The difference between our opinions is that yours is based purely on research you have found and mine is based on real life experiences I have had.
I would respect you way more if Instead of quoting and cutting and pasting from other people you actually gave an insight into your thoughts. You cannot purely believe in what others say. Do you believe everything you read!?
I studied psychology as a degree. I produced my own research paper during my dissertation- however my findings do not apply to the entire population of the world. And as someone who carried out research I know that there are exceptions to rules. I also know that not all the research ever done is credible. A lot of studies have since been discredited.
Here's one fact for you based on research which is clearly what makes you happy.
If you spend a lot of your time and effort into researching a topic you will often come out with an unbalanced view. 'subconsciously' you look for arguments and information that supports your view. You are often blinded by all the facts supporting one side of the argument- you do not spend time looking at both sides. So I would like to ask- have you spent an equal amount of time reading research papers that say tv isn't all that bed? Hmmmmm.
Please- in any further responses- could you not include the voice of others... Just your own. We've heard how knowledgeable you are about 'other peoples' information. Where are your experiences of tv being bad?
I don't know where you live but maybe it's the case that the only tv available to you is really bad? I mean I have 90 channels... Ok so a lot of them you could call tat (although I love a bit of tat).... There are many many many channels that are so educational and informative and it can be such a lovely experience watching them. I have learnt so much about nature, culture, space, history, crime, art, food from watching them- and I promise you watching about gorillas in the Rwandan jungle- there are no 'subliminal' messages hidden in the trees. And when I watched the royal wedding this year all the way from Kenya- the queen wasn't trying to get my daughter to engage in any underage sex- that was an important moment for Me being British- and I was able to watch it just like nearly everyone else in the uk from thousands of miles away. (you're probably against the royal family though yes?)
