Those who dont let you lo see/watch the tv...

Wow this thread has given me a right giggle :)

I see what you mean though MommaCat, my son saw a can of coke in Asda the other day, came home, cut the sugar into neat lines and hoovered that shit up. Next minute, the baby's humping the cat, Jack's high as a kite and I'm a quivering wreck of sexual frustration thanks to all those damn sexy ads on Beebies. Jesus what a day.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA......

Oh ffs, I laughed out loud and woke the child!

Well............ Erm......... Really don't know what to say to that mommacat ............ errrrrrrmmmmmmmm

 this is the best thread i have read in a while, my LO loves Waybuloo and in the night garden, we watch them together, although the haahoos scare me and I don't know why!!

speaking of scary- did anyone watch the moomins when they were younger...(shudder)
:shhh:

AND THE WINNER OF THE BEST POST 2011 goes to LITTLEBOO *round of applause* u have made my day,I haven't giggled at a post like that on here for a while....seriously I bow down to u :haha: xx

Lol yes but i don't remember them being scary...

they had the program with the rockets built out of fairy bottles and stuff right???

lol actually im thinking button moon!!

I am always afraid to mention my son likes to watch fireman sam. bob the builder and shaun the sheep in case someone starts on me for it. I never got to see tv when I was young thats just because I have a selfish tv hogging mum who lets no one watch it but herself. I wont deny kids programs and films to my son and it dosnt make him brain dead! he watches documentaries with his dad and is able to recite planets already from what he has seen. It can be used as a learning tool to.

maybe i was just brainwashed by them and now i am subconciously scared by them?!
that or a wimp

Mommacat.
The difference between our opinions is that yours is based purely on research you have found and mine is based on real life experiences I have had.
I would respect you way more if Instead of quoting and cutting and pasting from other people you actually gave an insight into your thoughts. You cannot purely believe in what others say. Do you believe everything you read!?
I studied psychology as a degree. I produced my own research paper during my dissertation- however my findings do not apply to the entire population of the world. And as someone who carried out research I know that there are exceptions to rules. I also know that not all the research ever done is credible. A lot of studies have since been discredited.
Here's one fact for you based on research which is clearly what makes you happy.
If you spend a lot of your time and effort into researching a topic you will often come out with an unbalanced view. 'subconsciously' you look for arguments and information that supports your view. You are often blinded by all the facts supporting one side of the argument- you do not spend time looking at both sides. So I would like to ask- have you spent an equal amount of time reading research papers that say tv isn't all that bed? Hmmmmm.
Please- in any further responses- could you not include the voice of others... Just your own. We've heard how knowledgeable you are about 'other peoples' information. Where are your experiences of tv being bad?
I don't know where you live but maybe it's the case that the only tv available to you is really bad? I mean I have 90 channels... Ok so a lot of them you could call tat (although I love a bit of tat).... There are many many many channels that are so educational and informative and it can be such a lovely experience watching them. I have learnt so much about nature, culture, space, history, crime, art, food from watching them- and I promise you watching about gorillas in the Rwandan jungle- there are no 'subliminal' messages hidden in the trees. And when I watched the royal wedding this year all the way from Kenya- the queen wasn't trying to get my daughter to engage in any underage sex- that was an important moment for Me being British- and I was able to watch it just like nearly everyone else in the uk from thousands of miles away. (you're probably against the royal family though yes?)

Again... Amen!

I think this has gone a bit far.... everyone is entitled to there opinions, i disagree with mommacat, however i don't think she quite deserves this!

The Moomins were definitely scary. I went to the Moomin museum when I was little and was quite freaked out.

I think maybe mommacat is referring to having a baby/child in front of a tv 24/7 as a babysitter not for an episode of fireman sam then bed (I hate Norman Price) anyway I dont think any one actually does that? I learn things from tv still its great for seeing other places in the world I wouldnt get to and things. I didnt watch tv really growing up, apart from a few episodes of the old adams family or a James bond film with dad and I am still stupid lol I spent a lot of time playing outside and building stuff.

Oh my... If I'd gone to a moomin museum.... Eeek... Trying not to think about it!

Blobby land sounds awesome!

It was The Clangers that scared me......oh, and apparently I used to hide behind the sofa when the theme tune for Roobarb and Custard used to come on! x
