Thoughts on this....??

Well i personally wouldnt want my child to have a dummy at 4...she needs to grow up! so why would i imagine that it would be a good idea to continue a child to suckle at that age? I have a dd who is 4 and i can bond with her in other ways.
At the end of the day, i dont personally care either way what others do or dont..its just the opinion that i have.

my cousin has a dummy at 4. nearly 5! he's very grown up. has bad teeth lol, but grown up.

i just thought, maybe it is the fact that we CAN give babies cups. (like aliss said) so people don't see it as necessary (breastfeeding).
all boils down to convenience at the end of the day.
but what can be more convenient then breastfeeding? i found taking x amount of bottles, x amount of scoops of formula and a flask of hot water really heavy to be lugging around with me all day. :haha:

Exactly...which is why i have never expressed. Plus the fact that I ENJOYED feeding her. Yes, with my boobs- shock horror to some, lol xx

I've confused myself now. :dohh:

I think breastfeeding is a beautiful natural thing and it saddens me that woman have to be so defensive about their decision to breastfeed because of current social conventions. Its digusting that anyone feels its okay to comment on it.
I couldn't breastfeed but had i been able to, i would've stopped probably around the age of 1 when other things become essential in a babies diet. Just my own personal preference and i certainly wouldn't look down on a woman who chose to do it longer.
HOWEVER, there must be a point when breastfeeding becomes more detrimental than helpful? When is the correct age to stop? At 4? 8? etc.
Unfortunately sexual education does not mention the REAL reason we have boobs so in today's society, a child breastfeeding after a certain age may find themselves bullied because most of society see breasts as purely sexual, especially with celebrities declaring that they believe breasts are just for sex. (This annoys me beyond belief)
But there is nothing wrong with BF-ing, FF-ing or bleedin' cows milk its delicious in my tea :haha: and how dare a woman feel she could comment on anothers EXCELLENT parenting!

i must admit, i do love cows milk which is sad because i hate the way they get it.
i might get my own cow in the garden to milk everyday!

How is it not acceptable? If mum and child are happy, then who's to say they are doing wrong? I bet there wouldn't be as many shocked/disapproving faces at someone giving their 4 year old a kebab for their lunch.. now thats disgusting IMO.

haha the good old days when i used to carry a huge changing bag with me.. then the faff of attempting to open the cartons without a pair of scissors.. Lol

i remember buying a pair of scissors from tesco once just to open a carton... :dohh:

looked like a right weirdo carrying them around in the changing bag in the end!

I dont think ANYONE said it was wrong, or are disapproving, most have actually said good on her, but not my cup of tea.

A kebab is just disgusting (unless i'm absolutly hammered..:haha:)

jake's quite partial to a kebab..

;)

i could murder a kebab now.... nomnomnom :haha: i sense one coming in a few weeks (after a huge intake of alchohol that is)

disclaimer: nights out are rare..... once in 21months might i add :winkwink:

i HATE kebabs. i hate it when people have them in the house. i have to throw everything away that was involved with it and wash all the cutlery and plates!

lol, i was on about OP's original post,

Almost actually but I made homemade muffins in stead!

(BTW I am not being sarcastic, my OH really did go to McD's this morning and I refused!)

And my kebabs were from Annabel Karmel's finger food book :) Deelish!
