To any moms in school....just wondering if you could give some input.

I'm not due until June. I'm really thankful that hopefully the baby should come after the school year is over, but I will be a senior next year and am trying to figure out what I will do. Quitting school is not an option and not something I would plan to do. Do you take your kids to daycare? If so, how can you afford it? Does anyone do online school?

I know I have many months to figure this out, but I'm the type who likes to try to plan things out as far in advance as possible (ha, too bad I didn't do that as far as getting pregnant went...). I don't know why, but I can't help but worry over every aspect of the future now and what I'm going to do and how I'll do it. I don't know anyone else my age that is pregnant or has a baby, so I have nobody in real life to ask these things to.

its nice to plan things but once you have kids planning is sort of out the window and its a day to day thing...:)

I realize that, but my future and school are not really things I can plan on a day by day basis....

I can relate totally i was on my third baby and in college and working...

It is hard no doubt but if its something you really want and put your mind too it you can accomplish anything...Do you have any kind of support to help while you go to school and study? You may want to see if the college you want to go to has a daycare..

I dont know where you are but if work and school is something you really want, they can help you do all ....and make sure you are able to do them...like help with money and food and even daycare...:)
also wic works as well..helps tons..
lots of people say going on government is bad but when your using it to help make it so you never need to go on it, its the right way to use it :)

You can go to online school but im not sure its free....and when i seen young moms on it, they find it hard to focus unless there is someone watching the baby...

i would really look into gov help...its not a bad thing and it will help you go where you want to go in life....there really proud of people who want to do that and usually help with it like 100 percent...:)
good luck hun...

and to directly answer...yes you need help as u need someone to watch the baby while at school or work and study and i know that they do pay for daycare and other stuff to help u get on ur way

xx

I went to school til 38 weeks pregnant and had her a week later and returned 11 weeks after. Managed to pass my exams and get into uni :) I'd look into government help. I got £160 for childcare which covered 4 days of 9-5 an my mum like after her the other day. However I became a part time student (unofficially) my attendance for the year was 33%! So I mostly taught myself from home. And when I was in school I spent my lunch times with teachers going over things I had missed that I didn't understand :)

It's really really hard to keep up with it and all the no sleep but doable and worth it if you really want to do it :)

Could you talk to your school about taking a year off?

eems she is in america and they will cover the daycare close totally if she stays in school fulltime...:)

also will help her out with college if needed and books ...worth checking into

Could you talk to your school about taking a year off?

I'd never be allowed to. I will look into whatever will cover it for full time students. I didn't even even know something like that existed.

I don't know if it exists or not as I'm in the UK but there'd surely be no harm in asking :) in the early days you'll be wanting to spend as much time with the baby as possible, so take whatever time off you can get!

i would loved to spendmore time with baby thought I seen many take time off school and never return...

maybe not take time off but cut day in half if possible?
definitly look into state help for daycare and what not (hug)

Heey, I'm Ashley and I am currently about 10 weeks pregnant with baby #2! I am 17, and had my son (first baby) when I was 14 (grade 10). I am now in my senior year.
When I was pregnant with my son, Dallas I went to school everyday, but as it got harder and I had preeclampsia I got to choose to go to school every other day, or go to school everyday for half days. I think I did the every other day.
I went to school right up until the day before I had my son :) I got induced at 38 weeks because my preeclampsia caused my blood pressure to be super high.
After the birth of my son, I then was home schooled for 2 month (could have been longer, but chose to go back to school). I had my son in November 2011.
I am now due with this baby in July 2014 and my year also ends in June. I am hoping I can finish the year off before my other LO gets here, but if not, I will most likely do the home schooling again. Possibly if school is too much I will probably do the every other day when it gets near to the end as well.
If you have any questions or anything, feel free to message me and I wish you luck! :)

I would definitely look into online schooling if you can't get help with daycare. My sister in law does online high school and she really loves it. Plus, daycare is just soo expensive! I don't have any experience with being pregnant in high school, but I've been pregnant in college and it is totally manageable, especially with online classes. Good luck to you, and congratulations on your pregnancy!

In the UK schools and college's help with child care if your in full time education, but there is usually a limited amount of help they will give you. You have to pay something like 15% of the monthly costs. Some schools also have day care at their schools/colleges and charge very low. You could always try to take a year out and do online classes instead for a year?

I'm not in high school anymore, but I had my first little boy at 17 (almost 18) and I was a senior. I did online school my senior year , and it was great. I liked it a lot and got my high school diploma just like anyone else. I'm also in college now, I graduate in May with my bachelors degree in early childhood and special education. Anything is possible if you work hard for what you want :) You can do it, don't worry, it seems stressful now, but you'll get through it and figure everything out. But yeah, check out online school! It's free, just like public school, the online school I went to even had a graduation ceremony that I went to down in harrisburg, pa! It was great.

have you spoke with your school about online school? I currently am doing that, supposed to be going back to normal school the end of the month but i'm trying to get the school to just let me continue online school til i graduate (currently a junior). not sure if your school offers it but its worth a shot. i love doing online school because its really on your own schedule and you dont have to worry about child care and, best of all, you get to be with your lo all day :) hope this helps!! goodluck!

I think online school or homeschool will be a great option for you. There are many to choose from and the cost should be minimal. Good for you for planning ahead and finishing school!!!
