Hi everyone

A couple of months ago my partner Simon and I decided we were ready to raise a family. After coming of BCP my first AF was 4th March - we decided to wait until after my next AF before offically trying so next one was 9th April and we have been offically TTC since. Very new to the site and all of the terminolgy and i am probably being really thick but can someone please explain dpo?

Also any advice etc would be great, i am hoping i do not get a visit from :witch: 14th May!!!

Thanks

Jo xx

ha welcome i was like that when i 1st joined.
there is a section somewhere that explains all the terminolgy.

it means days past ovulation, so when people calculate they have ovulated, you normally wait a few weeks to test x

everyone is lovely and will answer alot of things for you,

good luck xx

Welcome!!

Me and OH are trying for our first aswell! :) its all very exciting and scary!! lol

we are due to test this weekend for the first time! Ahhh

Good luck! :dust: Hope this link helps https://www.babyandbump.com/forum-help-testing-area/730-babyandbump-lingo-abbreviations.html

Thank you very much and good luck to you all too xxx

Ok, so i have been working it out then and according to ovulation predictors on the net it said my ov date was 29th (not taking opk's or BBT yet) which if i am right would mean i am now 5dpo. so roll on the end of 2WW !!!!

Once again good luck to you all i will keep my fingers crossed for you all xxx

My partner and I have just decided to try for our first baby too and I am coming off my BCP in 2 weeks (I would have just stopped mid pack, but we're going to France next week and I don't want AF while I'm away).

I've got an iphone app to track my cycle, ovulation days etc. It's really cute as it shows smiley faces in different colours to tell you if DTD on that day gives you a 'maybe' chance or a 'strong' chance of catching. I just liked all the pretty pink colours really lol.

Good luck to you all :)

Thanks Welshgirl21, i know what you mean AF visiting when you are on holiday is not good lol.

I have heard about the app for iphone and ipod touch but have not got one - mmmm maybe i should get one just for that lol

Thanks and good luck to you

I have iphone apps, but they kind of generalise things. They miss my peak days and ovulation. I brought a clear blue fertility monitor (see discussions on here for them) and found out I ov'd after the iphone app did, so do not rely on the apps. I am on my 2nd month of the CBFM (and about 7th month ttc, as came off BCP in Oct 2010). I am getting frustrated trying now and feel like EVERYONE around me is having babies. OH is annoyed everyone else is too and thought it would happen really easily, but I keep explaining that for most people it takes longer than 6 months. I am going to try preseed and softcup this month too (why not try everything going hey?!?) surely we will have some luck, on CD12 now, with my first high, hopefully will peak in a few days and think I will only use the softcups on peak days (as they look scarey & are expensive!)

Good luck ladies

hi bride2B thanks for the info.
I know what you mean about feeling like everyone one around you is having babies, and every advert somewhere as baby stuff on offer, i was even watching TV the other day then ended up on the laptop and whilest typing away the tv programme had changed and even people on the simpsons were pregnant lol !!!

Anyway good luck to you too xxx

I've read a lot of posts mentioning preseed - what is it?

I think it's something that makes it easier for the sperm to travel to find your egg, not sure though I know there are lots of ladies on here who use it and could give you a better answer!

Preseed is a sperm friendly lubricant that is supposed to mimic good cm and helps sperm in it's quest to the egg,I ordered mine from amazon, but I am yet to try it.some ladies say it's great others not sure of it (especially recommended amount as they say it's too sticky!) will try it out in next couple of days and see

Hope this helps x

Thanks, I'll have a look into it once I finish my pill packet.

I have also been looking at Clear Blue Fertility Monitors second hand on Ebay; they look really good but part of me isn't sure as I was determined not to test and track constantly while TTC, but another part of me thinks it makes sense to check when I am OV, what do people think?

Considering there is a small window in the month when u actually can conceive it is worth investing as u could easily be missing the moat vital part of the month if u just guess when u ovulate. I didn't think I would get so involved with gadgets etc ttc,but in reality u need to know when the vest time to bd is if u actually want to conceive. I got mine from amazon for about £50, and sticks from eBay about £12 for 20.

I am frustrated now and want to try everything! Tried a small amount of preseed last night, didn't want to go over the top as had heard it can be sticky, may try a little bit more next time as want to make sure there is enough to do the job!

Oops lots of typos! Stupid iPhone I'm typing on!
