Hi there... this is also my first thread!
I took Cerazette for about 3 years. I came off the pill in August 2008 as my husband and I decided we would like to start a family. I started getting concerned that everything was not right when I had not had a period after 3 months. I saw my doctor, who told me not to worry as it sometimes takes time for the body to get back into its cycle. I still had no periods after 6 months, so saw my doctor again and after a series of tests was referred to the fertility clinic at my local hospital. Although I still have had no periods, I wanted to put a post somewhere for those women who, like me, have become worried about TTC after taking Cerazette and are blaming this pill for any problems they are experiencing.
The fertility specialist has told me that there is a "signalling problem" in my body, which means that my eggs are not ripening each month. The important point to note is this: this has probably been a problem for a very long time, but as I have been taking birth control pills for 14 years, the symptoms have been masked until now. There is a natural temptation to blame Cerazette, or any other birth control pill, if you experience problems when TTC. Sadly, 1 in 6 women experience some kind of problem and it is usually something to do with them rather than the pills they have been taking!
The good news is I have now been given a drug which will stimulate my body into ripening an egg follicule each month, so fingers crossed... at least now I should have as much of a chance as all the other couples TTC out there.
Good luck with sorting out your ovulation problems... you could always see your GP for advice since it has been 6 months now after coming off the pill.
