TTC/Pregnancy while Breastfeeding and Tandem Nursing: Information and Support

Thanks Dan-o, its taken me longer each time even with out nursing the others so I don't think its anything to do with the nursing. I was very lucky looking back. 1st I fell on the 1st month TTC, 2nd I fell on the 7th cycle and 3rd took 12 months. And seeing as it won't have been 12 months since my cycles returned till august I can't really moan but it feels like its been almost 2 years LOL

I'm still here ttc.
Will be 2 years in July but will only be a year since my periods returned in August so I guess I can't be too impatient LOL
Getting a little fed up with comments about how I should stop nursing to get pregnant. I'm ovulating and having mostly regular cycles (last 2 have been a bit off but up till then they were regular) so I don't see how nursing would be the problem

i think we were getting towards the 1 year mark of TTC so i said in passing to my doctor we haven't been able to conceive. He said "well it's very very very unlikely and virtually impossible when your breastfeeding. You'll have to stop that first." then went on to tell me that BF now is only for comfort at her age anyway.

What a crock! It's so individual! <keep up what feels best for you and your family. :flower:

Thanks! i still don't know where we'll end up, i never considered tandem feeding, so i'm really just shrugging my shoulders at the moment.

i know, all i could think was "you are a medical professional"

My friend who uses a fertility specialist when she was conceiving her first was concerned what the specialist would say when she went back TTC#2 but her fertility specialist completely waved the fact she was breastfeeding away saying of course she isn't going to have to stop.

I think it's amazing that doctors say this when so many women fall pregnant while breastfeeding! Tandem nursing is so common in other parts of the world. In a way, places like the UK and USA aren't the norm when it comes to breastfeeding.

What a silly bugger - think he needs to have a nosey at this thread! :dohh:

Ok so TMI but I have read BFing can leave you a bit *ahem* drier, in the CM department. Could this have some effect on TTC? Even when I have EWCM there is loads of it. Should I try something like pre-seed?

I used to notice EWCM occasionally when i was TTC Eva but it was honestly a bit hard to find, we BD every second day for 4 months and the 5th month we BD every day through the fertile window and bang pregnant, so it's obvious i never had much EWCM to begin with and spermies obviously couldn't live up to 48 hours with me.

This time around i think we got to cycle 10ish... but some of those cycles were missed entirely. But again we BD every second day, Then the first month we BD every single day AND the first month we used pre-seed. PREGNANT!

I never took much noticed of CM or anything with the others, just worked out my fertile days and did it. Maybe I should try pre-seed after all

:happydance:

I used preseed last cycle since I didn't have very much natural lube (guessing from BF, never had the problem before James). I didn't do the inserts or anything, just used it like regular lube.

Jaymes - is that a penis? :D (terrible at figuring out pics)

I used Conceive Plus (as it was sold in my local boots) last cycle as I also had only small amounts of EWCM. Just used a little bit as lube too. :flower:

Jaymes congrats on the penis!!

with pre-seed i used it like it advised with the applicators and 3mls or whatever the recommended measurement was. Was awfully messy down there.

 Congrats on the penis! Did you know you were having a boy deep down? Everyone said we would have a girl, but I KNEW it was a boy. DH was a bit crushed cause he wanted a girl, but he loves Alex so much and I think he even forgets about wanting a girl :haha:

Yup! It's a penis! At first I was convinced it was a boy, but then I did the intelligender test and that said girl. Honestly, I was sad about that... Then when that picture came into view, I was quite a bit shocked! Today baby is mango sized! :happydance:

Lexi is sleep nursing now, and will be 14 months tomorrow. :(

Aww! Congrats on the boy! I LOVE my little guy. I wanted a boy first. I'm excited to see hwat I'll have this time!

James will be one in 10 days time! He needs to stop getting older!
