TTC sucess after laparoscopy

Cazhd, Sounds like you are healing really well. Good to hear that DH is happy to get some acupuncture as well. It doesn't hurt and I just asked DH about it and he actually couldn't remember having it until I reminded him (we only had it about two months ago - hehehe). I found it helps you feel more relaxed and active in the tcc journey. We are still looking at doing acupuncture with the Clomid. At the moment I am really confused as to when my cycle starts so I can take the Clomid. I had the lap mid cycle and had light bleeding for about 5 days afterwards. I am now on day 29 and it has pretty much cleared up. I normally have anywhere between 2 to 29 day cycles. So, I am thinking, do I take the tablet anyway as if I am on CD2 on a 28 day cycle even though I am not bleeding? Hmmm...might ask this qn in a Comid forum.

Other than that, all is well, just cruising around at home, had a visitor from work today, she gave me a gorgeous card and some yummy choccies. She respected us by not prying why I was off. She kinda guessed anyway as her cousin has a similar op and incision marks about 4 months ago.

I also have a self dis-solvable stitch under the skin which is a bit irritating, apparently they take about 2 weeks to dissolve.

Thanks for letting me know that you have heard other people on Clomid even though they ovulate, I'll let you know how it goes. Fingers crossed for both of us we get our :bfp: soon. Are you guys going to tcc this cycle?

Keep rested

hi not too sure what you should do about clomid, if today is day 29 maybe wait and see if the ugly :witch: shows face today or tommorrow and if not take it as start of new cycle. What days have you to take it?

Glad to hear your getting on alright. That was a lovely gesture from your work colleague and she didn't pry either. I never told anyone at work why i'm off but one of my friends from work phoned and said don't worry they'll have you pregnant anyway  DH was angry and i said to him see now you'll maybe understand why everyday i go to work psychologically it makes ttc harder as its all they talk about is pregnancy/babies and have had me pregnant for the last 18 months!!!!! If only they knew the truth :hissy:

Thanks for info on dissolving stitches, didn't think to ask how long they take to disappear.

Missed out this cycle, was due to ovulate monday and bleeding had stopped but dh wasn't for any of it, was worried he'd hurt me, said the thought of hurting me was putting him off so it was a disaster really but forgotten about now. I was bit upset cos see it as a missed chance which is ridiculous i know!! Feel like trying to make a baby becomes less romantic by the month :dohh:

take care :hugs:

Thanks for your reply, I am meant to take the Clomid on CD2 - 6. I am currently on CD29 and the :witch: usually arrives between CD26 - 29. I had bleeding for the week after the op and now nothing when I am now suppose to be due.

It must be hard having the extra pressure from work. It would be the last thing you'd need or want. Do they realise they are pushing the boundaries and over the top? Are they all having babies, etc at the moment? Sounds like they need to grow up have something else to talk about. Do they realise its upsetting for you?

I keep my private life very private from work. I think my work colleagues are aware of this and don't over step the boundaries. I tell them what I want them to know and who needs to know basis.

It does become difficult each month tcc and becomes not very romantic at all. A lady from another forum mentioned that her DH took her out to dinner before :sex: which I thought was lovely as it brings the romance and care back into the situation, hopefully light the flame and spontaneity back again. I am sorry to hear you have missed out this month, I understand it would feel quite upsetting, I would be the same. I guess thats why I am wondering about the Clomid as I would like to give it a go this month while I am off and any side effects I can try and work with before I go to work. See how we go there.

Hope things get better soon, keep your chin up

take care :hugs:

Hi ladies, I wonder if you two know how encouraging your posts have been? I had a few days of feeling really down and negative. It always helps when you have people who understand exactly where you are. I hope you're both on the mend now. I tried to do without the painkillers too-silly move on my behalf!!!
I have a review with the doc in 6 weeks. He had a chat with hubby and I after the procedure.
We knew there was a good chance there was some endo but thankfully it's minimal. Doc said so little that it would have been more sore on me to remove it so he left it. He did say there might be more deeper down so I don;t know what the significance of that would be. It also left me wondering what caused all the nasty symptoms I'd had.I have spoken to nurse since and she told me the amount of endo doesn't matter, symptoms can be as bad with a little or lots, depends on the person.
One tube is completely blocked but as I have one good one they'll let us keep trying for a while first-no idea how long that will involve but will get a chance to discuss all this at the review.
Hubby has to have a :spermy: test done in the meantime. Funny thing is, wonderful and supportive as he is, you would have thought he was being asked to have a limb cut off!!! I was cut open and he'll get a dirty mag and a plastic pot-where's the justice in that!!!:gun:
Anyway ladies, I guess we have to stay positive, although I know my frame of mind changes every half hour.
Thank you again for your encouragement...I think this will be a good half hour!

Just reread the messages, also about to try accupuncture, both my cousins tried it after TTC for months-it worked for them!! A baby boy each to show for it. DH has agreed to try too.
I can understand the pressure you feel from work and people in general. We got married in August, when we went to Scotland to visit my DH's family in October my dear step-mother-in-law asked me "why are you not pregnant yet?" I'm a teacher and I've been getting it a lot from the parents of the kids too-not that it's any of their beeswax!!! If only people would leave us and let us get on with it...

:witch:Hi Noja, glad to hear that our journey has been a good help for you as I know how difficult it can be to find something that makes you feel better when you feel pretty down, negative and/or confused. When was your procedure? How long have you been tcc?

I know what you mean about men worrying over their jar, I have a laugh about it. DH has been with me through the HSG and saw me through the operation, he now realises and appreciates the simplicity of the jar compared to what we go through

Good luck on the acupuncture. The guy we go and see is very supportive and is happy to work in with western medicine. Even with Clomid, he can give us modified herbs with acupuncture which can counteract any adverse side effects. My main issue at the moment is trying to figure out when the :witch: is due so I can start on the Clomid. I must admit, I wasn't given much information on what to expect after the procedure. I have read it can take anywhere from 3 - 6 weeks to get your :witch:. Does anyone know what to expect after the lap/D&C etc? I feel a bit lost with this cycle and fear we will have to sit this one out until the :witch: returns.

I hope you are feeling ok, keep your chin up, we are all moving forward on this journey.

Hi lioness, rotten that :witch: delayed. IN terms of what to expect after the procedure according to my gyno it shouldn't cause AF to be late but he said it could very well be be heavier than usual-what fun!! Been told to give it a couple of months for my system to settle down before expecting to be able to conceive-a couple of months may as well be a couple of years in my mind :hissy:
We've been trying to conceive for 9/10 months-since we got married really. I suppose I should have left it for a while to give us a chance to settle into married life but what with being in my mid-thirties I have REALLY under pressure at this stage. What about you?
I'm wondering if I'm going to be put on Clomid, that's for progesterone levels isn't it? My first day 21 (3 cycles ago) test showed low progesterone levels although that may have been because of the length of my cycle, the repeat was 41 and the gyno could tell from lap that I had ovulated this month.
On a brighter note I managed to wear a pair of jeans today for the first time since the lap-yippee!!

Hi good to hear from you both. Know what you mean noja about trying to squeeze into jeans. Lioness was just saying that the other day, glad it wasn't just me, was thinking my lack of eating was having the opposite affect

Your stories of accupunture sound positive and are very encouraging, will hopefully help with my stress levels too. Were going on hol in couple of weeks so plan to start our sessions when we get back. My fantastic husband booked us an extra hol to get us away from it all, the only thing that keeps me sane other than talking to you's. Bit cheeky really cos just back from NYC but hey ho.

I remember when dh did his first SA sample, he was saying this is awful and so embarrassing, i was like well yeh at least anything that gets done to you is pleasurable, oh let me think had bloods, smear, oh and got lap coming up, oh yeh must be really distressing for you  Think he realised then to do and shut up, funny he never did moan when did second one!! And it was muggins here that took both samples in so he didn't even have to face the people at the labs :dohh:

I'm a bit like you lioness keep my life pretty private and separate from work. No one notices they are upsetting me with comments cos i normally just say oh maybe next year cos got hols booked, but that was my excuse last year. I work with alot of women and especially on a night shift all they talk about is babies and getting pregnant. One of the girls i'm friendly with was saying just last week how she's dreading 'trying' for a baby cos last time she fell pregnant on pill and she couldn't cope if didn't happen straight away. One of the other girls who i've known for years is really broody and keeps saying she wants a baby (think bit early in relationship so holding off at moment) but has always feared won't be able to have one, i'm standing there saying of course you can't think like that, she says everyone else at work just pops them out left right and centre. Yeh so they do i seem to be the only one in there with a two year delay :hissy:

Hope your :witch: turns up soon, never been so eager for mine to come either, seen as no hope this month x :hugs:

Lioness i've just read a post about green tea and just wondered if you know anything about it. I'm not a big tea or coffee drinker and love my green tea but someone was saying you shouldn't take it while ttc. Just wondered if the person who does your TCM has mentioned it

Hi noja, Where abouts in your cycle did they do the procedure? Mine was in the middle. The other day my FS seemed a bit rushed and forgot to tell me about what to expect after the procedure. He did give us the impression that we should be able to conceive in the next couple of months without a problem. I am in a similar situation to you, I am in my mid thirties and I am ttc #1. I have longed for a family for years but the situation was never right. I don't want to waste too much more time. I understand how hard it is and the feelings of sadness that comes with it.

I am still new to Clomid, I do know it is to help you ovulate. My bloods came back normal but I think one of my levels was a little low which showed it was working hard to ovulate each month.

I haven't tried on my jean since the other day. I should see how I go. Good news that your swelling has gone down enough to wear a pair of jean again :)

Hi Cazhd, hehehe - I thought the same as you about not being able to fit into my jeans. I had been eating less but was bigger than before  Any luck fitting into yours yet?

A holiday sounds good. I've hear lots of stories of ppl going away for awhile to get away from it all and relax....and they come back pregnant!!! Fingers crossed that the change of scenery works its magic, you may not need any acupuncture ;) How long are you going away for?

I haven't heard anything specific about green tea. I have heard caffeine reduces your chances each month, the same goes for alcohol.

Hope you're having a god day, keep smiling :)

Hi again lioness. I was on day 17 when I had the lap. This is when I usually ovulate but I had already ovulated by the time I had the procedure-although I thought I hadn't so it was a pleasant surprise. AF paid me a visit today which means either this cycle (29) was a few days shorter than usual (32)or else the lap knocked things off a bit so maybe I did ovulate earlier than usual. I think I'll have to use a OPK on a regular basis to make sure we don't miss the window.
I'm feeling really positive today, I met up with a close friend for lunch and she gave me a good talking to -in a loving, only-your-friends-can-get-away-with-it kind of way. I'm beginning to think it was something to do with the lap that left me a bit hormonal and down in the dumps. What day of your cycle are you on now and any sign of AF at this stage?

hi all, well jeans nearly there, still in my slouch jeans but looks like swelling down a bit, although bag of sweets i'm eating prob not helping :dohh:

The dam :witch: will be around just as we go hols so no luck there, but fingers crossed for my next cycle. Going on hol for a week, i'm ready for a break away just the two of us.

Will try and cut green/white tea back a bit just in case, the ones i drink are caffiene free but will cut back a bit anyway.

You both doing anything nice for the weekend? Dh working tonight but hopefully he'll get up lunchtime tomorrow. Been a lovely day here today been pottering about on my own all day in the sunshine, makes a change from the normal rain!!!!

Hi guys, how are you going today? Noja, I was CD20 when I had the lap. Good news on getting the :witch: as you can now know whats happening with your cycle. Wish I knew what was happening here. I have no idea what day I am on and no signs of the :witch:, grrr.

Sounds like you have a good friend there. So what did she say to get you out of being down in the dumps? Sounds like I need a good talking to as well ;).
Any advice would be good :).

Cazhd, I also tried on a pair of jean today, almost back to normal, not quite. Just wearing my trendy tracksuit pants :). Sweets may not be helping with the jeans, but I am sure they are providing a bit of comfort at this stage :hugs:.

Sounds like we are both out this cycle, noja is on a winner this month... hope you get your :bfp:. Time out for a week sounds good. A friend who I haven't seen for a few years called in to say Hi last night and is living near the coast, DH and I are thinking of going down there for a couple of days next week, see how we go. It will be a 3 hour drive to get there, wonder how I'll hold up...haven't gone anywhere too far since the lap. Its been raining here for almost a week (feels like it anyway), so don't have much planned. Just watching some DVDs with the fire on and staying warm :)

Keep smiling girls, it'll be our turn for a :bfp: soon, fingers crossed.

Yep fingers crossed it's our turns next month. Lioness thats rubbish the :witch: hasn't turned up yet, thats typical especially when your all ready to start clomid with your cycle. Still sounding hopeful for you noja.

Been up early today not feeling great just sick and crampy as if af due but not suppose to be here for another 9 days, hmm not sure whats going on!!!

Well i spoke to soon yest. Grey and miserable out today so looks like a day in front of the telly with my fleecy blanket. A trip to the cost sounds like a good idea, hopefully if you take some painkillers before leaving you shouldn't be to bad for three hour journey.

Big

Hi Ladies
I am really happy I found this thread - I am booked in for a lap this Wednesday (27 May) and I'm freaking out!!!

DH and I have been TTC for ~ 12 months - successful after 2 months but it ended in m/c at 9 weeks. I was told to wait 2 natural cycles and then we'd be ready to go again, but I got an infection from m/c and things haven't been the same since.

Since the Jan, cycles have been very irregular, and that is unusual, so I went to a specialist who did a scan and I found out I had polycystic ovaries! On top of that - she thinks I might have endo - and want to just check there is no scarring or blockage from m/c, so am having lap next week.

It's been good to read all your experiences. I don't really know what to expect.

Lioness you asked initially about if anyone had conceived after lap - my husband's ex wife did - she had endo and then after procedure - within a few months was pregnant and they had they had a beautiful baby girl (Alexandra who is now 6). So I am hopeful that getting things checked out and 'cleaned' out will help.

Interesting about the accupuncture - I am interested in trying this too.

Hi cupcake queen. Rotten that you had to go through a miscarriage already. All the best on Wednesday. I'll be going back to work on Monday having had my lap on May 12. I really hope that they can bring something positive from it for you.
The worrying before hand was def much worse than the actual procedure. The nurses and drs were brill. You'll be given lots of painkillers afterwards and do be sure to take them. Give yourself lots of time to recover. When the doc said a fortnight I thought he was bonkers but he knew what he was taking about (funny enough). Bring a pair of very loose fitting trousers/tracksuit bottoms into hospital with you to wear going home, I had my jeans and a wee dress on, I had to wear just the dress going home and if you've ever seen Irish legs after a long winter...eek!
Mine showed endo and a blocked tube but the gyno was very positive about it all.
All the very best, hope to hear from you afterwards with some positive news!

Cazhd, AF came early for me this cycle and have been quite crampy too although taking lots of the painkillers from the lap so letting them get a grip. It kinna came gradually so maybe same thing happening to you. Have a good weekend and enjoy the sunshine!!!

Hi cupcake queen, sorry to hear about your m/c, sounds like you've been having a horrible time :hugs:. I was very anxious and nervous prior to lap but def not as bad as i thought, my main fear had been my anaesthetic but i got different drugs this time and was much better. I agree with noja wear baggy clothes as abdo will be swollen and tender. Good luck for next week and hopefully you'll get some answers and be closer to getting your :bfp:

Sorry to hear the :witch: came noja. Not sure if mine will be early too, my boobs are really tender today which is normal for me prior to :af: Hoping it comes early as keen to start next cycle as we all obviously missed out with this one.

You made me laugh with vision of you in dress with irish legs leaving hosp. I had all my clothes on and i was a site  also fainted on consultant as he showed me out to the car, i'm dramatic

Thanks ladies!! Your words are very supportive. I'll keep you posted!

Lots of baby dust you all!!

Cupcake Queen, wishing you all the best for the lap. Sorry to hear about the m/c and the events that have occurred since, I am sure the lap will sort out alot of things for you. I was also nervous and not sure what to expect and for me the lead up was more nerve racking and worrying than the actual procedure. Having the lap is a positive step as both you and the FS will know what you are dealing with and which way to go. I had no idea I had any endo which they found and removed with the lap. I also had a few other things fixed while there, so I now feel like we have a healthy clean slate on which to conceive.

The day before the procedure I took picoprep and was only allowed to have liquids. Then nil by mouth from 10am the day of the surgery (as I was booked in for the afternoon). My FS was running late with his surgery's so I stayed in hospital overnight which was good. I was told to wear something comfortable to the hospital, so I was lucky I wore a pair of tracksuit pants which, like noja and cazhd mentioned, was handy to wear after the lap. Make sure you continue to take the meds they give you afterwards as they work really well. Not a good idea to stop the meds to early due to not feeling any discomfort or pain, as that's the meds doing their job. I have reduced my amount now its 1.5 weeks post op, but still taking them as I sometimes feel a bit tender or sore and want to keep on top of it.

I had a D&C with my procedure and I am currently at a loss as when to expect the :witch:. I am just recovering and hoping it will occur sooner than later so I can start taking the Clomid. I bled for about 6 days post op, not heavy, some days were more spotting, others a bit more (sorry if TMI).

Thank you for your feedback/story on success after laparoscopy, I really appreciate it, helps keep me positive and gives me extra encouragement. I have started to take some TCM herbs which will help heal and build up the lining. The TCM guy DH and I go too is pretty knowledgeable (been doing it for 15 - 20 years) and works in with western medicine. If you do take TCM herbs, its important to tell your FS especially before any surgery, they will probably ask you to stop like they did to me. DH and I talk to both our FS and TCM guy so we are informed and can make decisions that feel right for us. Acupuncture doesn't hurt and have heard good success stories with TCM as it addresses the whole person and restores any deficiencies.

All the best for your lap on Wednesday, let us know how you go :hugs:. Do you know what time you have to be at the hospital yet?
