Hi ladies,

I really have a bee in my bonnet about avoiding being induced. I'm also having a homebirth so can't go past 42 weeks. My next appointment is 38 weeks in a fortnight. Can I request a sweep at that appointment or ask her to book one in for 39 weeks? Don't want to wait until 41 weeks. Fingers crossed it happens before then naturally!!

I know what will be will be so I'm trying not to get too het up! Blimey maternity leave gives me too much time to think :)

No harm in asking? She wouldn't do it there and then without any warning I don't think so either ask before hand.. or ask then to have one at 39 weeks :) x x

You can ask but they don't have too - you might be lucky!! I begged for a sweep with DD and will be begging again this time!!

I had a sweep at the hosp at 38 weeks...with no prior warning lol i feel it helped as i went into labour 4 days later...altho im pretty certain i was gonna go early anyway as i was already 3cm dilated and my cervix was open ad baby was fully engaged...but they were thinkin of inducing me at 39 weeks due to my little mans size...i think the same may happen this time as im already measuring 3 weeks ahead xxx

You can but ask. I remember asking at 40 weeks but because ds wasn't engaged at all the midwife wouldn't do it at the GP surgery. I had one the next week at the hospital though when the wee monkey was still not engaged!!

you know you don't HAVE to get induced! im not!

My midwife said she will do one as soon as i hit 40 weeks. I would love to have one earlier. I will beg her on my next appointment when i will be 38+5! x
