Underhand tactics - formula companies

I had an artifical birth to but as we both would have died why would I be upset

so did I. And someone saying artificial birth dosnt upset me it was what was best at the time.

I think for some people say formula is 'artifical' is upsetting just like i think saying that people who had a c-section had an 'artifical birth' would also be upsetting.

If we are using the word 'artifical' literially then you would have to class c-section as 'artifical' - its not nice.

The only thing that upsets me is I didnt get to feel him coming out and I think that stopped the bonding in someways but it was a small price to pay for us still being here

Maybe in the distant future C sections will be really artifical and done by robots

Well at least we would save money not having to employ doctors

Yes maybe it should be suggested to David Cameron as a cost saving for the NHS

I to felt like I hadnt had a proper birth I got right up to near the end then that happened. But I just have to realise that it happened and saved us both and without it we wouldnt be here. Same as formula for some mums who cant breastfeed, their baby wouldnt be here if there wasnt that.

I think all this discussion about how artificial is a bad word proves the power of advertising. The only reason it has such a negative association is the years that companies have spend getting us to buy their products because they "contain no artificial ingredients". There is now such a strong association with "artificial" and being bad.

And if advertising can create such a strong association with one word that it causes pages of arguments, then surely a positive association between SMA and their "helpful nature" is also likely. Meaning people getting advice from SMA are more likely to go on and use their product if they decide to FF.

No they didn't invent it but they carried on using it when it became clear people didn't like it for wahtever reason it doesn't matter why really does it? Some people got upset and another group instead of modifying their behaviour carried on regardless because they don't respect other peoples feelings, why should they have to justify their feelings?

Can people honestly say that if they had a friend who FF and you mentioned the word 'artificial' or 'inferior' and they said please don't use it again as it upsets me, would you continue to keep using the word?

Just because we are sitting behind screens here doesn't mean that we can't show a certain level of respect to each other.

I am all for a debate but it can be debated without jibes.

shouldnt we all just be glad that everyones babies are being feed? Each to their own and all that.

I was going to breast feed but i physically couldnt. when you are in that suitiation it causes guilt, depression and other things i wont go into.

So why not stop with the arguing about it?

So?! Im sure we all know someone who does something illegal. Or something that is illegal! I just don't understand what the big deal is. FF's PAY for their milk, so why shouldn't we be able to 'succumb' to the big powers of advertising.

meh! I asked about health visitors and what the do to help formula feeding mums with education on bottles like 60 pages back but never got an answer. That was when everyone was complaining there was no help for formula mums and making bottles, also no help hv was to me with breastfeeding so i was curious.
