Unscientific Study: Female Orgasm after Ovulation

So, I've been thinking about this for awhile now. I know that during the female orgasm, the uterus contracts. Of course we all know what happens during an earthquake so I've been wondering, could having a orgasm actually hinder or even prevent implantation from occurring?

So my questions are:

1. In your opinion, could an orgasm hinder or prevent implantation?
2. Why or why not?

For ladies who became pregnant:

3. Did you have orgasms after O the cycle you became pregnant?
4. How often?

I assuming the ladies that answer questions 3 and 4 did not have chemicals that cycle.

hmm, interesting. i've been wondering about this a little too, although from a slightly different perspective, since my little bean is well and truly implanted... but i am still too scared to have sex in case i knock him out of there!

i had sex with orgasms for 2 days after my OPK went positive, then haven't had sex since for fear of hurting bean!

I thought about the same thing around the time of O this cycle. So, DH and I DTD everyday around O time, but varied on getting an orgasm to be every other day. After O, we waited for about a week which I thought was ample time for fertilization and start of burrowing. And we got our first BFP at 10dpo.

Another thing we did was, after DTD I would either put one pillow under my bum while using the napkin to avoid any spilling or DH would put his leg under me to give me the support to keep my hips high. I would remain in that position for atleast 10-15 minutes. If I didnt feel like taking a shower right away, then I would just lie sideways on my right for another half an hour or so before getting up. I cant remember where I read this, but its said to lay on your right before the baby, and on your left afterwards!

This was our most researched and most confident cycle of trying in the last 18 months with first time use of clearblue fertility monitor, and I couldnt stop being thankful after I saw that second line! We never used any medication although my GP was going to refer us to Fertility clinic if we didnt make it that cycle. Turns out, our timing sucked, and with added stress I was also developing painful cysts that were messing up my cycles.

You mentioned about the uterus contracting; it doesnt just contract or expand, its more like a wave that goes over it which gives it a feel of contraction. This actually helps the egg burrow itself deeper into the lining. However, if theres already something wrong and the egg isnt able to burrow into the lining properly (due to thick uterus lining, or burrowing in some fibroid that is not strongly held with the uterus etc) then yes, the egg will detach itself and possibly try to either attach again (You may experience spotting due to this) or leave the system with your period.

I read that if you orgasmed it helped the sperm go into the uterus as the contractions go in that direction. So I made sure I had a pillow under me and then finished me off (sorry if tmi) and waited 30 minutes before getting up. Worked for me!! that and pre seed. Didn't really do it much after ovulation so can't say whether that would have made much difference. In fact didn't orgasm at all after O day.

I know i got pregnant with this one 1DPO and i had an orgasm, i cant see the point in having sex if your not going too anyway, i think its important as it 'sucks' it all up to the right place! i cant see an orgasm making any difference once it has implanted, although ive never really thought about it! xxx

Thank you all for your input. I definitely believe that orgasm after sex leading up to, during or just after O will help sperm to reach the egg. Studies done have shown that sperm after ejaculation can reach the eggs in just minutes, a feat that could not be accomplished without the sperm having help. Researchers think it may by female orgasm and the contractions/waves it causes that may help speed delivery. Obviously though, orgasm is not needed to actually get pregnant.

I've also been reading inconclusive reports on orgasms relation to IVF that orgasm after transfer (that would be the 2WW for us women who haven't had IVF) can actually impede implantation, but the rate of it doing so seemed small. However the study groups were also small and results varied from group to group so it was inconclusive and this is why I asked.

I guess to be on the safe side though, no more orgasm for me Which sucks!

I O'd after OH when we concieved, after that, I didn't O until about 6 weeks pg.

Since then, Ive had some spotting, so we haven't dtd at all and I am also too scared to O!!

I think we had sex (with orgasms) twice after ovulation (although I'm not sure EXACTLY when Ov was but have a fair idea). I went off sex around 3w and haven't had any since BFP 'just in case' (plus let's face it - I feel rough )

I read about the 'orgasms helping sperm' thing but I never orgasmed after my OH so it was kind of irrelevant in my case. I did the 'lying on a pillow' thing every time as well for around 15 mins after BD.

Oh, and wasn't taking any drugs or anything except folic acid.

I have also read on TTC websites and books etc that an orgasm has help the sperm along its travels, so it wouldn't be a hindrance in getting pregnant but may actually help!
