I have my next appoinment with fs in July and he said it could take up to 3 months to get hsg as there's only one clinic a week. I phoned to boo it and the girl said it could take up to 6 months! Is this normal? What worries me is I've been told it can't be any later than day 10 and u cant still be bleeding on the date but I bleed until about day 8 so I feel like I will never get an appointment! :(

I think the one clinic a week is quite normal yes as it is done in radiography, not in fertility clinic. What day they are prepared to go to depends on the clinic and your cycle. If you are prepared to sit a cycle out in order to et it done, perhaps you could ask if you cold do it later int he cycle and not try? Alternatively, see if they will do a hycosy instead. I am having hycosy tomorrow. It is similar, but done with saline and ultrasound rather than dye and x-ray. They do it inthe fertility clinic so the wait was shorter. I am still having to go mid-cycle to get it though.

Other option is to go privately, but I'd expect it to cost several hundred pounds.

I'm having mine done tomorrow (CD12) the day i will get my positive opk - because of the same issue! one half day a week, on a monday afternoon are HSG's done round here! Last monday would have been ideal... but it was a bank holiday! So tomorrow is D-day... and hope that the egg doesn't release until later that night or the next day so i can have a chance of catching it lol But if not it's only one more BFN cycle but will hopefully have a clearer idea of what is going on with me x good luck! x

Thanks girls good luck xxshellsxx ! My hospital has a strict policy of not doing it past CD 10 I phoned to check as I would be CD11 so I will just have to wait until next month and see then!

hey candefloss :flower: Sorry you have to wait another month for it! I got my + OPK just 4 hours afterwards... was able to BD (it was a little sore but i lay back and thought of England :haha: )

I had mine yesterday and even thought it took 5 attempts and 40 mins it was virtually pain free! It took so many attempts because the balloon wouldn't stay in under the pressure of the dye. The only thing that had me say 'ouch' was the DR moving the speculum around, but that hurts me even during a Smear test! It was uncomfortable but not painful for me, i took painkillers an hour before hand, and seriously it was nothing worse than a smear test with an AF feeling while it was being done. I think i'm more tender today because of the multiple attempts (and BD) rather than the actual procedure if it goes smoothly.

My left tube spilled the dye eventually... the right one wouldn't spill the dye...but they said it was down to the balloon not staying in under the pressure... but i don't believe them. I'll get my results june 25th - NHS are not quick with follow up appointments! So looks like i have one good tube after HSG and will find out what the real issue was with the right one when i go in June x
