Hi there,

I've been delaying my baby's vaccinations but am now thinking of getting them very soon.

I have done a bit of reading but it's quite confusing and I was wondering if anyone else here put their baby through a delayed programme for the UK vaccinations.

I'm in an area that gives the BCG vaccine but won't be giving that one until my baby is at least a year or maybe bot even then.

Apart form that I think I'm going ahead with the others.

The thing is, all the info I have about delayed vaccinations or not giving them comes form American websites. Does anyone know of any UK ones.

Also are there any opinions ont he pros and cons of delaying vaccines and what experiences if any have people had?

Thanks for the advice.

hi redpoppy,
we are doing the same (probably around 6 months, and selective at that) so fraid i dont have experiences yet! hope someone has some wisdom for us both :flower:
ive only found:
https://www.vaccineriskawareness.com/Delaying-Vaccination-Cuts-Asthma-Risk
https://www.jabs.org.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=159

anything else i've found just gives the official line i.e. stick to the prescribed schedule otherwise you're leaving your baby open to serious diseases ........... (nothing saying that the vaccines arent always effective, can cause serious side effects, might be more effective if done at a later age etc).

Aaaagh, such a decision! It is causing me so much worry.

I know! It's stressing me out too and I keep thinking, "oh sod it!". But then no one seems to explain WHY the immunisations are done so early. I mean I understand the herd immunity thing and its good to have it from an early age, but I just want people to talk to me and give me options.

I'm so busy with the baby I don't get time to read enough abotu it too. I have a book but again it's USA based.

I also want to take LO swimming and there are conflicting reports about whether I can do that without immusations. :dohh:

We delayed Freya's slightly (by about a month) and took her swimming from 6 weeks (went every week). I read on a few websites including the NHS immunisation one that said swimming is fine before jabs. :)

i just talked to our homeopath about it and there's this:
https://www.informedparent.co.uk/
there's apparently a lot of evidence that delaying till after 5-6 months allows their more mature immune system to deal with them better.
Oh and K has been going to water babies since he was 12 weeks and they arent concerned about immunisations, apparently the diseases they get immunised against cant be transmitted via water plus pools are so heavily chlorinated it kills off most things.

i kind os wish you could pick and choose individual vaccines, so that you have a choice!

This is interesting as it has a schedule.
