Hello

I'm kind of new here and havent posted that much, but i do read alot of the threads on here and i wish to goodness i could help us all...its truely heartbreaking this infertility, my favorite thought at the minute is WTF have i a womb if it refuses to be used....simply too sad for words :nope:

I've been ttc for over 10 years, i finally went to the docs last year....i always thought when it happened it happened, but i'm 31 now so it just aint gona happen DOH!! I have regular 26-28 day periods always, and according to blood tests i ovulate great each month....but then why do i NEVER get a positive opk how can this be...surely that's not right? I think i get O pains and i certainly get horrendous sore boobs for the last 2 weeks of my cycle but still no positive OPKS, i also do get EWCM but....it just doesnt make sense! OH sperm sample is great so the problem isnt there :dohh:

So i'm scheduled for a lap and dye 4th January and something called a hysteroscopy at the same time. I had my pre-op assessment last week and i meant to ask this question...but totally forgot! I'm due to start my period 2 days before the op...can it still be done if i am bleeding, or when i phone the nurse on Monday will she tell me it needs to be re-scheduled? I just want answers now....i know there isnt going to be a quick fix for me after all these years, but if the op has to be re-scheduled then ARGH!!! Also, i hope someone can advise me here, at my last scan CD7 i was told i had 7 eggs in one ovary and another 3 in another...is this normal, should i have more? Thank you in advance for any advice x

Hi, sorry you are having such a long journey.

If a hystercoscopy is what I had (also known as an hsg) then they can not do it during your period. It had to be cd 10 and no bleeding what so ever. The hsg was where they insert a catheter into your cervix Nd then pump a dye in. They then take x rays in the hope of seeing the dye flowing through your tubes etc.

Speak to your doctor about it. If your hospital is anything like mine then they will be good at rescheduling for you. Af was being on evil cow to me the month I had it. And kept playing games. I had mine rescheduled around 3 times in one week! It's a long story though so I won't go into it, but the nurses were great through it all!

Good luck.

Thank you for your reply...that's what i thought :( But the nurse asked me when my last period was at the time....and i meant to say i was due when the op's where taking place but she started to go onto other things so i forgot :dohh:

Do you think they could do the lap first and just re-schedule the hsg and hysteroscopy (thats when they measure your uterus and womb and check for abnormalities etc) for another time...i really do hope so, as i am at the end of my tether, at least if they do the lap...i'll have some answers re endo and can wait a little while for the other op's. Man life is hard sometimes eh. Thank you for your reply and i wish you all the luck in the world for your baba :hugs:

:hi: Sam!

My goodness, 10 years?? I'm already seeing a therapist at nearly 2 years for depression...I'll probably end up in the mental ward by 35 if we're still childless . Props to you for keeping it together !!

OPk tests- I have found myself and some other women on here don't ever seem to get a +. Too be honest, I've only gotten 2 out of the 5 months I used them. It's most likely because we're missing our LH surge. So your best bet is to test twice a day. I usually tested around 10-11am then again at 8-9pm.

After a while I gave them up because like everything else, it didn't seem to work. Plus, that $$ I could be saving towards IVF.

Ovaries producing eggs- At my scan, the tech told me I ovulate more on my right side than I do my left. She said it was nothing to be concerned about.

Lap-dye- They'll have to reschedule if you're on AF. Best to call them now and tell them when you're due to start.

A hysteroscopy is not an HSG. A hysteroscopy is where they take a tiny piece of the lining of your uterus during the laparoscopy to analyze it. When I had my LAP they told me that I could be bleeding but it couldn't be a heavy flow. I was on day 4 when I had mine and I was down to a light flow. So day 2 is probably too heavy. But they do have to do it before you ovulate cause they won't take the chance of you being pregnant.

You had a total of 10 eggs or 10 mature eggs? There's a difference. My doc told me 17mm and above is mature enough to rupture and then be fertilized. But you can have more immature ones that won't rupture during ovulation. 10 would be an incredibly high number of mature eggs without using fertility meds. Since it was cd7 I doubt they were mature, but 1 or 2 may mature in time for ovulation.

With OPKs, you may have a short surge. If you only test once a day then you could miss it. You could try testing 2x/day with in the hours the directions say (most say between 10am and 8pm), but b consistent as to when you test.

Hi ladies :)

Thank you for your replys. I'll call the hospital tomorrow and let them know that i'll have my period on the day of the op...although i might be at the end of it so hopefully Phoenixrose is right and it can go ahead as planned, although i cant see them doing a hsg if i am bleeding....who know's i'll find out tomorrow i suppose. So fed up now, i was looking forward to having some answers finally after all these hellish years of wondering.

I'm not sure if the eggs where mature, although i think i remember the doc saying that 3 were of the correct size for the time of month?!?

With regards to the opk, i have tested from day 7 right through to day 21 just to be sure and sometimes 5 times a day at various times....not a jot of a positive ever. I just dont get it, something must be wrong with my ovulation althought i've had CD21 bloods done for 5 months in a row and they've all been over 50.

I'm just so depressed now about it all, over the years i had kind of accepted it, but now that i'm 31 its like an overwhelming urge for a baby has taking hold of me and i am finding it hard to keep it together. There is obviously something seriously wrong with me, but i am sick of having my head in the sand i need to face the issue whatever it may be. Thanks again for taking the time to reply, i wish you all the best x
