Virus Popup

Images in signatures can be a problem and raise false concern. The details were originally vague and so misunderstood as the most likely problem. I do believe I have an idea of what is happening but I'm waiting feedback from the guys who definitely know (still don't believe it's harmful) :D

Will update as soon as I have one.

Get the free version of malwarebytes and do a scan.

This happened to me today. A pop up showed up while viewing a thread. And it started to automatically "scan" my computer, or so it said. I immediately closed the window to stop it.

Someone must have hacked the website and infected it.

It is your PC that is infected, not the website.

This is what I've gotten. I'll be on the forum, looking at a loaded thread. Then suddenly my browser redirects me to this. It is not my anti virus program. I have no viruses on my computer (checked). This is not my own image, but this is exactly what it said when it redirected me. It had stated "Trojan, Hacktool, and Adware" where infecting my computer and were 'found'. It was this exact image. And it's not a pop-up, it's in my browser. And not from my desktop.

Hope this helps. Again, I know this isn't my own image from the website, but this is identical to what I saw.

Here is what I just saw when I tried to load my weekly bump shot. Definitely not our virus protection - it's something coming from the site - it only happens when I click on something

I hope this is resolved soon. A few years back, a virus was going around that masqueraded as antivirus software, and when you clicked on it it would disable your real antivirus software, ingrain itself into your computer, redirect all of your internet traffic to malicious websites, and then kill your hard drive. I lost a desktop to computer to the virus and so did a few people at DH's work. Actually, everyone I knew had the virus affect at least pne person in their offices. I don't want to scare anyone here, but having experienced bot the virus and the BnB pop-up personally, I truly do not believe it is not "just from an image in a signature". Please, for the sake of your loving BnB users, crack the whip on your tech guys to get this issue resolved quickly.

I agree - it's definitely NOT from a signature!

I also had the same window come up as taybear and Powell showed. This was about a week and a half ago. I was viewing one of the threads that I've been on for over a year. Never had a problem until then when I was trying to post a reply. I hope it gets resolved soon. I think everyone on this site has enough on their minds without having yet something else to be concerned about:dohh:

Thanks admins. for trying to find an answer to the problem:thumbup:

oh yes, that is the very first one I did...then I did adaware..

then I did avg guard and then my boyfriend put his panda on my computer which is one of the best out there...

my computer is clean......:(

I agree, it's not my computer that's infected. I've only had it from this forum, not any others.

I ran malwarebytes and AVG just in case. Clean. It redirects the page to a blank white page with a red warning in it. This is IN the browser, not an actual pop-up and it's from the site.

I've not had any issues anywhere else.

^^ yeah i've noticed that nothing pops up anywhere else so I know it's not a real virus, it's something that someone attached to the BnB site itself, but it can turn into a virus if you use it. My brother (who works on computers in the Army and has top secret clearance so I know he knows what he's talking about) is the one who told me just to
'X' out of it and not mess with it. So that's what I do.

I haven't heard of malwarebytes and am leary of running programs on my computer even if they claim to be antivirus software (see my previous post). But I did run Norton Antivirus, caught some things that may or may not have been related to BnB, but then I had the popup appear again...only this time it was on my work computer, and I think it's unlikely that both computers would have had the same virus given that my work computer was just provided to me a few weeks ago. The only websites I go with it are BnB and Baby Center.

Not trying to argue or debate, just trying to provide additional insight.

Hiya,

These guys would not put any threats onto your computer or advise you to download a program that is not genuine. I have it on my computer it is perfectly safe to download and use.
