Watching the show "I didn't know I was pregnant"

Yes I've known a woman go fullterm without knowing. She didn't put on an ounce of weight... went to hospital with stomach pains and came home with a baby.

It was a right shock for everyone.

It was really really crazy. Baby was a healthy 7lbs too!

She wasn't a big girl either, quite average sized!

This happened to me in uni...I still remember living in the housing dorm and the abulance coming in when the girl was in labour..she had no idea she was pregnant and she didnt even look pregnant..we just thought she was gaining weight..fair enough she was not a small girl...so when she got more round we just thought it was the university cafe food...
When I saw her later (with bubs) she said she didnt know but did guess that maybe she was pregnant a few times towards the last month or so as she always had 'food poisioning' and even when she wasnt sick her stomach made funny sounds and felt funny from what she thought was bad wind/gas...
I think this girl was just nieve and in denial if you ask me..because now that I am pregnant these kicks are NOTHING LIKE GAS!!
But reality is we all feel different and when we have no idea or dont know anything about what pregnancy woudl be like..we could just make an excuse or all the feelings..
Being pregnant and knowing that we are pregnant makes us look at whats gong on in our bodies different and we pay more attention to it...

I've watched this show a ton...and I still find it a little out there. I guess it can happen but there are some that just seem crazy. I just don't understand how you can mistake your baby moving for indigestion...baby moving feels nothing like ive ever felt before..just seem crazy to me...lol yet I still watch it hahhaa

I can understand being in denial, being naive, not feeling movement, gaining weight all over instead of just in the tummy, etc. What I can't understand is not feeling the weight that a full-term baby, WITH amniotic fluid creates. I'm only 27 weeks, so my baby is only about 2 pounds, but it is HARD and almost painful to lay down and roll over in bed at night. How can someone not think something is going on in their abdomen with up to 12 pounds of fluid/baby at 40 weeks? I still find it hard to believe.

well I can tell you honestly after losing 110lbs...I actaully feel sort of like I did when I had all the extra weight in the front..I mean it is different..but if I was young and dumb (sorry to say it that way) I might think it was because I gained weight too! Because it does feel very simular....I dont know ..but I see where you are comming from..Im only 23 and I feel like someone just added a bowling ball inside my uterous as of the last two weeks!:haha:

I've had all of my periods so far, really the only reason I did everything to find out is because i had a feeling deep down

I got negative test well until about 3 months, while most women give up, I still had that feeling, and I finally got a positive, and there's no denying the kicking.

It is possible, some women's bodies dont act normally for some reason

Full term yeah...I doubt it. But I made it to 20 weeks without having the faintest idea. Still had my period, no symptoms, no movement. I would probably have known shortly after that when I started feeling movement lol. I was in a lot of pain and went to the hospital and they were like you're pregnant, and thought I was ectopic, so did and ultrasound and BAM! Big ol baby.

I am a very small girl too, so I dunno what gives on that one lol. I play roller derby so the doctors think I just have really strong abs. :p She's healthy and ok, thank god, but I'm surprised the falling and hitting and what not didn't make me miscarry :(

I've seen some of this show and it's crazy!! With my experience I can't believe you could be pregnant and not know but I guess everyone really is different and especially if you are in denial you may be able to explain some of the symptoms away as other things.

I've not know anyone it's happened too but I'll never forget seeing a couple on the local news once. They were both third year medical students and one evening the lady was rushed to hospital with 'appendicitis' and out popped a healthy baby! Bet their class mates really took the **** out of them ;-)

Its happened to a girl i knew in the Uk and a girl i know here!!

UK- she found out at 30 something weeks, didnt feel movement, still had periods, and didnt gain any noticeable weight!

Aussie- i was with her when she found out, she took a test to prove her mum wrong haha she was 24 weeks. She has pcos (sp?) ovaries and so never really has periods, and was always bigger round the waist, so no one but her mum noticed any weight gain! She was devostated at first but came around soon after!

If it hadnt been for those 2 girlfriends of mine, i wouldnt have believed it, but i've seen it for myself! I'm not sure about full term, as a lot of ladies have said on here, i feel massive, like im carrying a bowling ball under my clothes and generally very uncomfortable! But hey, i guess anything is possible!

There was a lady i used to work with and she was forever complaining about stomach ache, or horrid period pains and we used to tell her to go and see her dr.. she was forever on a diet to loose weight and was always complaining about diets and foods etc.. we had come to know her as "the moaner" as there was always something wrong with her !!

one day she came in to work complaining that she had been awake all night with terrible cramps and she had back ache, we joked with her and said "your not pregnant are you" nooooooo way she replied !!

That afternoon she was in agony and we were really getting worried (and started to feel guilty that maybe there really was something wrong with her after months of complaining) so an ambulance was called, they came and checked her over, all the usual first checks, got her to the hospital and 2hrs later she gave birth to a daughter - 4 weeks prem

She had been 8 months pregnant and didnt realise, she said she had had regular periods, no sickness and put her fluctuating weight down to her diets etc.

We were all in shock and couldnt believe that she could be 8 months pregnant and not realise it .. but she insists she didnt, she had no baby clothes, no nappies, no cot, pushchair .. nothing :( luckily she worked with a great bunch of people and had a fantastic husband so everyone donated clothes, nappies etc to get them started but it was a total shock !! :D

My friend was 20 weeks when she found out on her 3rd DD she was breastfeeding her DD who was only a few months old so assumed the missing AF was because of BF and the tiredness was getting up in the night she had put on weight but put it down to not loseing her other baby weight. it wasnt till her dad asked her if she was pregnant, he told her look you have a bump she is very slim so you couldnt miss the belly, I was in Australia at the time but my other friend noticed she was putting weight but said I didnt want to say it to her! her dad made her do a test and it was positive! she was in denial for a week then siad I better got to the doctor who sent her for a scan!

I know if the placenta is at the front of the tummy it can cushion kicks so you wont feel them. although I dont think I ever go full term not knowing!

One of my best friends got to 36 weeks without knowing despite having 2 children prior. I have a picture of us both sat in swimsuits by my swimming pool, me at 27 weeks and she would have been 34 weeks then and I looked like I had swallowed a beach ball and her tummy is almost flat. She had seen a doctor when she would have been 10 weeks as she was feeling nauseas but was told it was a bug. She had periods throughout. At 36 weeks she thought she had put her back out and was on whatever she could get from the chemist when her mum called an ambulance as she thought she had slipped a disc. The ambulance men told her she was in labour.
The weird thing was she had been contemplating having another child and had been weighing up the pro's and cons. She cannot believe she got to term and didn't know it. She said she had felt every lump and bump with her first 2.
She was actually very overwhelmed after the birth as it was a hell of a shock to her. She cried on and off for a week.
