I am now 19 wks pregnant with my first baby. I'm having a girl and I am just starting to feel her move inside me. It's not constant and I sometimes wonder how much I should be feeling at this time. Does anyone know the normal pattern that unborn babies exhibit? How much do they sleep? When do they sleep? When do they move around? Is there a certain time of day, I wonder?

I was also wondering if anyone else has started to "interact" with their unborn baby yet? If so what do you do? I'm thinking of making a tape of my fav' soothing music and putting an ear piece to my belly. I've heard that they like this.

Also I was searching the internet for information on what things to do to help your unborn baby get the best start by boosting their brain cells...there is MANY gadgets out there that claim to do just that but I have my doubts...anywaz just a though...

I think all unborn babies have their own routines.
I don't think you're meant to count kicks or anything untill 28 weeks though.
I talk to my bump alot, that's about all. It does like certain songs too.

:)

how do you know which songs it likes?...do you put a head set on your belly?

I assume it's moving because it likes it. Either that or it wants me to turn it off LOL

I like to tap my belly, sometimes my LO kicks back, and sometimes it ignores me. My DH and I bought a few Dr. Seuss book and we like to read to my belly at night. I need to get music going for the LO as well.

i talk to it and read it stories and dh also talks to it. i pat my belly when it kicks. sometimes i poke but it doesnt poke me back.

I'm now 19 weeks and this baby hardly moves much at all. I get a few kicks at a time just a few times a day. This really worried me at first cos with my last two pregnancies, both were kicking like mad constantly from about 17 weeks, and they were much stronger kicks too. They say every pregnancy is different so its hard to say but i have baby's heartbeat checked with my GP once a week too just for my peace of mind.

I am also 19 weeks today or tomorrow its a battle marking the exact day:dohh:anyway I felt her strong and steady last Thursday and then nothing that I was sure was her anyway up until last night and then I think she kicked me right before bed so I will start drinking orange juice and stuff that is supposed to make them more active and see how that goes because I am a worrier and her stillness really bothers me:cry: But i have to also keep in mind they say it could take up to 20-22 weeks before significantly steady movement starts

My Peanuts moves around a lot when our fire/ems pager goes off (makes a LOUD beeping) and she's the most active whenever I'm at the firehouse, though I'm not sure why. Maybe it's all the noise and excitement, not to mention the adreneline rush I get everytime we get a call (even though I can't go on them at the moment.) We also have a night-time ritual that we're going to keep on after she's born. We have a little stuffed bunny that says a goodnight prayer and after we get into bed and get settled we set it on my belly and play it for her.

me and dh talk to bump and rub and pat it all the time. if i poke my belly baby quite often will kick me back xxx

Sometimes if a leg or foot stick out I touch them and they go back in really fast. They're really sensitive because you don't have to touch them very hard.

I've also started putting headphones on my belly for baby to listen to. He listens to classical music even though I don't really like it that much. OH hates it if I make him listen to other stuff. I make him listen to winnie the pooh & timone and pumba too though!! Some stuff he really gets kicking to. It's also a usful way of waking him up if I'm worried about him not moving for a while!

I used to speak to Bethanie in my womb and id hold my speaker to her belly playing music and she would always kick to certain songs (as if she was having a little dance in there). Her faves seemed to be Marvin Gaye's 'Lets get it on' and 'Sexual Healing', even now when I play them.. she does this strange look and starts smiling.. im sure she recognises them.

I always noticed that Bethanie woke up as soon as I went to bed, apparently it's because you're rocking them when you're walking around in the day so they sleep a fair bit, but when you're still they get more active. Im sure it varies (how much they sleep) and all babies have their own patterns im sure? when you're in later pregnancy, I think they say at least 10+ movements per day is normal - don't quote me on that though. Bethanie didn't move loads and loads and id worry sometimes, but other days she would be a right little wriggler!!

My 3 year old son talks to my belly, he says things like "I love you baby" and "when are you gonna come out and play?" it is soo cute!!
