Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Hi ladies!

Phil- glad to hear from you! Awesome pic of babes, how are you feeling??

Ali- way to go girl, you probably been eating healthy all this time and didn't realise it :haha: When do you leave for Canada?

Alin- how are you?

Newcomers- welcome!

AFM- well, Iwoke up this morning, went for my power walk, ate breakfast (K, coffee and crackers ) then worked, then went for a hike, then had a steak and an apple :haha:,then worked, ate fresh tomatoes and lean meat, then went for another hike. Now I am doing laundry, trying to cool the house down, bathed the kids, fed the dog, did the dishes, getting ready to do school and thinking of taking a third shower :haha: lol!

HEHE.. I leave tomorrow morning, but ONLY if I get my packing done! I'm lazing on the bed right now wishing my tummy would stop doing flip flops. UGH. That is why I thought I should take another HPT! :haha:

I don't think I have been eating very well, I just haven't been overindulging. Things like pizza and potato chips are NOT healthy. LOL! I told you I have been eating crap! I just haven't had the time to focus on cooking the last week or 2. That will change at the cottage, where I have all sorts of yummy fruits and veggies at my fingertips. Plus a weekly farmers market on Monday's where I can get even more yummy things! The local butcher has yummy things too. I wish that we had a better selection down here in FL. oh well.

OK I really should go pack.. :dohh: Or I won't be able to leave tomorrow! EEK!

Safe journeys, Ali!

have a safe journey ali,i am good on cd 5 and waiting to ovulate, can't wait for september we go to south of france for 3 weeks (ferry and dh driving takes around a day and a half to get there).

GL on your drive keep us posted when you can! How many days drive are you looking at? Will you stop at motels or just burn on through?

 it is a 26 hour drive! I wouldn't make that in one day if I tried! I went 653 miles today, and have 895 more to go. I am currently in Rock Hill, SC! I didn't start until noon today and went 9 hours, but google said it should take just under 11 hours. I guess I was going faster than I should :haha: I kept my speed around 82-85 mph except when idiots got in my way! I have huge issues with people that drive in the left lane, it is for PASSING :growlmad: I mean if there isn't a car of 2 miles on either side of you why sit out there and impede those that are going faster? I just don't understand it. No offence to those people in SC, but this state is is the worst! I guess they don't teach that lesson in driving school! They certainly did where I grew up! :growlmad:

So I heard that the highway I-77 North is blocked/closed from some wind/tornado damage, and almost everyone is without power, a guy driving south told me that all the gas stations are closed. Hopefully they will get things going before morning, and clean up the highway! If not, I may be hanging out here in Rock Hill!

Lol, poor fast-driving lady! :haha: Wow, I hope you don't get stuck there! Nobody wants a huge pile-up of peple so I am sure they will make keeping the roads and stations open a priority  Don't push yourself too hard though, drive careful and be safe! :hugs:

Hey All, I have a couple of days away and it takes me almost an hour to catch up!

Ali, I hope the drive is going well, you'll need a good rest when you get to the cottage won't you? I hope you're feeling better now.

Everyone else :hi:

AFM, its my Birthday today and Hubby got called out to work this morning, so I've spent the majority of my morning cleaning the house ready for my family to arrive. I'm doing a BBQ for everyone, so I'm praying that the weather holds out. the sky looks a little greay and its a bit windy, but I'm hoping it'll hold out. Its just not the same doing a BBQ in the oven in the kitchen, is it? LOL!

Coy, I hope you're not overdoing the exercise, it sounds like you're constantly on the go. x

Hi everyone. This is the first time I've ever posted in a forum so please bear with me. I don't know the lingo either so this is going to be fun. Just looking for advice and someone else's thoughts really.

I'm 43 yrs old. My hubby is 44. We have 2 kids. Girl is almost 20 and boy is 17. Last year (2011) we had a missed miscarriage at 13 weeks. Well that was when we found out. Baby hadn't developed after 7 weeks. The pregnancy was unplanned but we were all thrilled even the kids.

I had an ERPC end Sept and since then we haven't used any contraception. I was using ovulation sticks (the ones you pee on) until April this year and then became so disheartened with it all I just gave up trying and started having fun again (in bed obviously).

I'm wondering whether to have a mirena coil fitted or do nothing and take my chances & hope for the best. Then I'm thinking oh for gods sake you're 43 just forget it and get on with your life. Really unsure of what to do. Hubby would have 10 kids given the chance. I've read up on statistics of birth defects and my chances of becoming pregnant.

Would any of you (if there's anyone here as old as me) keep trying and hoping or should I forget the whole thing?? Opinions and advice would be hugely appreciated ))

Thanks so much for your reply. Glad to know I'm not the only one out there. Congrats on your 3 lovely boys. Ntnp is exactly what I've been doing last few months. Will continue with that for another few months I guess & then call it a day :)

Hi everybody, I'm quietly lurking at the moment! In one of those moods the past few days I love coming on to catch up but dont have much to say myself. Just worn out at the moment so ain't going to come on to continuously moan lol. Things will be grand in a week as I finish work on Wednesday for 10 days. Hopefully the break will do me good, if you can call it that with a 20 month old. TTC regime going ok, although PCOS diet slipped today with chocolate galore!

Hi to all newbies, me in a nut shell - 38 on 17th July, 5MCs, 1 DS aged 20months inbetween. PCOS and gynae 'issues' for over 15 years. TTC naturally, seem to be overcoming the getting pregant after none for 6 years, it's now staying pregnant :sadangel:. 2MCs this year and am now on my first cycle TTC :headspin:. Waiting more tests but the health service where I am is pants in a word so not putting my faith in anything and going ahead using advice and diets from research I have conducted.

I think I'm on CD9, havent even updated FF so I must be low lol. But I must say I am dead impressed with my new (Ebay bargain) CBFM, intrigued how my tests will read over the next few days as I normally ovulate late as well (anything from CD16-30).

Ali, good luck with the rest of the trip. Alin, Coy, Terri, Jess and everybody :hi:, you lot are a load of chatterboxes, can't keep up :haha:

xoxoxo

hi angel i also got my cbfm of ebay bargain price of £15,its my 42nd on 25th july, you got anything planned

Hi Adele,
I'm 40 and my husband is 42... I'm currently 13 weeks pregnant and everything looks fine. If all goes well (birth etc) I am open to having one more... I will be 41 when this one comes, so I would be trying again at 42/43 if we decided to go ahead and have another...
I think if you want one, then go for it... you know your family and what is best for you...
I was worried a little bit about the higher stats of things like Down's syndrome, but when I discussed it with my husband, we both felt that if that was the result, we could handle it. You know your health better than anyone and that comes into it as well. Trust your gut.
Hope that helps!!
phil.

Phil- awesoome to hear you are in week 13! :happydance: Welcome to the second trimester sister! :hugs: So happy for you and your dh! My doc gave me the stats on Downes also, etc, but dh and I believe as you do :)

My little girl has been wiggling like crazy lately! And got her first official case of the hiccups this morning about 5 a.m.! :haha: Yay! lol...

Wow, I had a tough day- I got up early, went for my morning power walk, cooked breakfast for everyone (coffee, eggs, pancakes, sausage, milk- the works! lol...But for me crackers and one small half-cup of coffee :cloud9: before my trad. bowl of oats with skim milk. Trying to eat healthy! Then I worked int he yard getting it ready for the 4th of July as everyone in town will be trying to burn their homes down with fireworks :haha: So cut all the weeds in front and back yards, mowed all the grass, then got a wild hair and deccided to destroy a few things (dh helped! :) )and got to use my beloved sledge hammer to obliterate a couple of outdoor old crumbling desks and tables...Did a full yard garbage pickup, cleaned off our concrete pad, watered the garden, set up new lawn sprinklers, finshed at 7 p.m., then cooked dinner- tossed green salad and lean steak. Ahhh, I am tired! lol! Took a cool shower and then discovered that my online college team totally wigged out on me (I am team leader) and submitted an assignment on behalf of the team (me included :growlmad:) that was not only the incorrect assignment but incolete with incorrect grammer, varying font styles and sizes, and other incorrect papers to acompany it. Ohhh I am so mad at them! :tissy: I contacted out professor and redid the entire paper myself and submitted it to our professor at the last minute! In a hellishly hot office I might add! So I am in a fine fit at the moment, :haha: Multi-tasking !!! Aaargh! Motherhood trains you for that if you aren't already well-versed, lol...

Oh I so miss Ontario produce! Well I miss a lot about Canadian food :) happy Canada day, hope you had a poutine or something to celebrate. Hehe
Where is your cottage? I miss pulling over on the side of the road for produce or going out in my parents backyard to pick blueberries. DH is not a blueberry fan but he has never had them from there...there really is no comparison. Have a great time!

Trying not to think about turning 38 :haha::ban:

Unfortunately I'm working, and possibly either in England or about 150 miles away for the day :sad2:

Are you planning anything?

That was some bargain, I got a group of stuff for about £50 including 20 testing sticks and loads of IC ovulation and HPT strips. Feel robbed now lol :sulk:

Good Morning everyone!! I almost hate Mondays now because I miss sooo much here!! My weekends are soooo busy. But my BF got me a fabulous phone this weekend that has a bigger screen and a faster processor so I can check in easier on my phone. Now all I have to do is learn how to use it!! :haha:
Never-the-less I did my best going back and trying to catch up with everyone.

Coy...How are you? Feeling ok I hope!! Give the tummy a rub for me...:flower: Taurine is absolutely out of the question! Pro-Complex made by Optimum Nutrition is a good protein drink for pregnant women.

Ali...Are you in Canada now? How was the drive? Don't forget about us while you are away!!:hugs:

Phil...Congrats!! A little girl! How exciting!! I am super happy for you.:happydance: I will keep praying for you and your healthy pregnancy!!

MommyMel...my name is Jess...good to meet you! I'm glad you are a part of our thread. This is a fantastic group of ladies...:hugs:

Alin, MarathonGirl, FirstTry, Angel, Tia, Terri....what's going on with all of you!?!?! :winkwink:

AFM...well, Got a few days of :sex: in past this week...(That icon is hilarious!) So, I guess I will start an official TWW...even though BF and I are not "officially" trying...Lol!
How does that work anyway? We said we are not trying but we decided not to get back on BC and he asked me last week if that was our "week." :haha:
He doesn't like the disappointment either...
Well, until I get my BFP I am going to continue to train for my September show.
