Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Has anyone ever taken Vitex? I have a friend at the gym that was TTC for 15 months and she took Vitex for 30 days and was preggers the next month.

But I don't know a lot about it. She told me it is herbal and over the counter.

This link has some info on VITEX. I have never taken it but have heard good things..." Vitex, also known as ChasteTree Berry helps to regulate the hormones estrogen and progesterone. Vitex can be taken either the first half of the cycle or the entire cycle." But if you do not have any issues with estrogen or progesterone you shouldn't need it. You say your doc told you everything was great, which is awesome! However, I don't think it could hurt to take it. I took Black Cohosh to help get my AF back when she disappeared for several years :growlmad:

Well, I had all my blood work done in February with the endocrinologist and everything came back normal. So I am going to just believe that it is because I am in fabulous shape...well, cardiovascularly speaking...:winkwink:

I'd be in better shape if I had a little round pudge in front of me to rub on for a few months!! Lol!

Yes! I knew I was in great shape! :haha: Cause my belly is def sticking out! Oh, funny little notation....I have a traveling freckle. It started out when I was toned and super flat on my hip bone. Then after my bfp and bumpo started to grow I found it by my belly button  The other day I lost it entirley and finally dh found it over on my side :dohh: LOL! Skin sure does streeeetch! :haha:

YAY!for getting you first temp! And nope I think it is an excellent temp Jess. Anything in the 96-97 range is excellent. Since you are just at the end of AF (correct?) your 96'ish temp is perfect for pre-ovulation. Every woman will show a little bit different. My pre-ov temp was 97'ish but probably in the 96's before and during AF.

Thanks Coy! I have felt so blah today...not sure why...kind of sad  with no real good reason...
oh well, maybe I'm just like a little kid and I need a nap!!

I ran three miles on my lunch today, but President Obama is in town and my normal path was blocked off in some places...so maybe I ran further than my normal 3 miles and i'm just tired!!

Hm, I am trying to be good to my body and regulate my sugars better, it is fun to see what to avoid...I got to eat a huge bowl of ice cream last night- for sole intent and purpose of testing glucose levels, of course.......Anyway I went from my normal 86 to 96 so not bad. I'll have to test that again later :haha: This morning my fasting glucose was 81 so - normal  I just had coffee and crackers, (I know, I know- naughty me ) and dh told me to eat more than that so I waited until noon (mistake) to eat eggs for protein stuffed up with any kind of veggie I could find in the frisge (I am not finisky, lol). So I am thinking I should eat a balancing protein earlier.

Jess, one of those protein shakes would be awesome if I could get at it! :haha: I never have a huge appetite until about noonish which , by then I get the shakes. So I will keep my eyes open for the protein drink for breakfast anyway. I wonder if just something like banas blended with milk would be good? Protein and carbs together and not too heavy. I might try that.....I have been weighing at least every other day and haven't gained anything in the lst few weeks  so not sure what's going.

Hm, sounds hormonal and maybe overtired, yes! Sometimes what a woman needs is good old fashioned chocolate! Try some of that...the real stuff, like Dove or Symphony or Cadbury :cloud9: I could seriously do with some of that myself but am trying to be disciplined! I think that is our problem, you and I. You work out harder of course  but I def understand your discipline! Some days you just need to take a break and rest. I noticed whenever AF came I would need a good shot of chocolate and a dark cup of black coffee just to enhance my bad mood, :haha: LOL! Brightened my day :)

Big bowl of ice cream, huh? Nice!!

Bananas blended with milk...perhaps every once in a while. Bananas, while high in potassium, are also high in fat. So you should be careful not to consume too many of them...I like that you eat veggies. But a protein shake would be great for you. Just pick up a whey protein shake. They are typically low in sugar, high in protein, and contain just enough carbs to aid in processing the protein. Does fresh fruit like peaches or berries spike your insulin levels at all?

I haven't tested all the fruits...I am sure as it is a sugar that it does some but from what dh and I can tell my glucose is normal, so I am just trying to avoid unhealthy stuff (except ice cream, lol). So I could eat like nectarines (love those!) and berries when they are available. I am not much of a huge breakfast fan, pancakes make me  After about two bites the sugar in it makes me shaky, plus if I eat eggs its always either lunch or nothing. Wow, didn't know banana's had fat! Cool, new news! I can blend anything and drink it though, so will keep my eye open for an affordable whey protein - problem is almost everything contains creatine!which my doc says "no" to  So I think today I will browse the grocery or health food store and see what's up there...

omg,,,,,,,, got my BFP last night,,,, i am toatal in shock.....
cant even breath properly......

Jess I take this, it's called Agnus Castus over here. I started taking it to help my PCOS and also changed my diet (low gi/diabetic/non-dairy/no alcohol), and starting using Instead Cups after :sex:. I conceived within 2 cycles and have went on to have 4 pregnancies using this method, all conceived very quickly, ie normally 1-2 cycles. That's after 6 years TTC and 6 cycles of Clomid. I don't know what element works or if it is a combination but yes I would recommend it. My cycles are now between 28-35 days with a very rare 40 day-ish cycle, maybe once a year. We'll see over the next few cycles if the same routine helps this time:winkwink:

Hope that helps xo

I'm sure everything is fine, I doubt you have a thyroid issue, some of the side effects are fatigue, brittle hair/nails, dry skin, fertility issues. For me, if I don't take my thyroid medicine I get really tired. Like I want to sleep 18 hours a day.

I have never tried them, but you can use these cups to keep the little swimmers inside of you instead of dripping out. I wonder if you could just use a diaphragm? As I said I have not used them before!

Angus Castus and Vitex are the same thing! I think! I took it for the first 10 days of this cycle and when they tested my e2 it was really high. I am not sure yet if it helped any ;) I think it has a similar effect on the body as clomid for those with normal hormones, and perhaps for those that are not quite so normal, it helps to bring those hormones into a more regular place. It is also an ingredient in FertileAid. So you could look at that. It helps with CM as well.

Hi Ali! Are you still online? How are ya today? You're lookin at 6dpo, right? I have never taken Vitex, or Agnus Whatsus :haha: or any of it except for Black Cohosh, some of these items I've never heard of before :dohh: but I am sure there is benefit to some of them.

Still hot up there today?

Jess- I looked for the whey protein and only thing my silly little town carries has tons of creatine in it NUTS! lol! So I have it figured the best protein drink I can consume for right now is skim milk...a tall glass gives a negligable amount of sugar, no fat at all, and 16 grams of protein! Not bad but not chocolatey either  lol!

Ali- a drop in temp but that doesn't always mean no bfp- I got my fx'd for you yet! Everything is lookin' good still, how do you feel? Stay hydrated up there in the heat!

AFM-Just suddenly decided to have a stressful day. Yep, you guessed it- I'm budgeting :dohh: lol. I hate budgeting :growlmad:

Mel- congrats on the "bfp: !! :happydance: I am happy for you! Do you have a tcker up yet?

I'm not too worried about my temp, but my back is absolutely killing me! We'll see what happens tomorrow :)

I'm not sure what Jess will say about my suggestion, but I often make yoplait smoothies. There are a few different flavors including chocolate & banana! That is my favorite :) All it has in it is yogurt and fruit in it. I add it to skim milk and protein powder. The kind I got I bought online. Mine actually is supposed to help with blood sugar, because it has inositol in it. I think you could find a good protein powder online, that would help you :) Then I bought myself the magic bullet and that made making smooties in the morning SOOOO easy! Literally grab the cup.. toss in some of the banana and yogurt mix, a scoop of protein powder and fill with skim milk. Stick the lid on, shake a little and put it on the blender thingie. YUMMO!

Yeah Kelly, they are actually cups you get for menstrual flow (Instead Cups or Soft Cups are the 2 main makes I think) but I was recommended them for TTC on here somewhere. I don't think I'd use them for AF to be honest but I do use them around ovulation time after nooky. It may be psychological for me but you never know, 4 BFPs using them after years of no BFPs so I'm not leaving them out of my ttc aides lol.

Welcome everyone and good luck!
Hope that everyone is doing well and hanging in there. I haven't been able to catch up too much in the last couple days. I have had such horrible back pain. I am on cd10 and hoping that we have some good news tomorrow. I go for us and bw in the morning. Yesterday my follicles were averaging about a 10. There was a 12 and 13. They are growing slowly but surely. There are quite a few which is great. I started ganerelix today. Can I just say that I am so over the shots. I am really hoping it is all worth it in the end. I'm now up to 3/day. 375 follistim, 75 menopur, and now ganerelix. Soon we will have progesterone and trigger shot...and more fun stuff.
It is nice to know I am not the only one going through all this. It is hard to see people get pregnant so easily.
Anyone else have major back pain on Stims? I have my heating pad on low and am hoping for some relief so I can get some sleep. My appt is early in the morning.
Good luck everyone and baby dust to all.

Hi Kelly, I get my agnus castus from holland and barret in tablet form. If they ahve a one penny sale on it's a fantastic save for two tubs. You take 4 a day, 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening is how I work it. You may be able to get it in tincture but I prefer the tablets as I know I'm then getting the correct dose.

I got a bfn at 10dpo today as well so fed up too . But let's not count ourselves out just yet, it's still early. I've never had a bfp before my AF due date and many not until at least 20dpo. The preganncy that resulted in my DS I got a negative at 20dpo, then I only tested at 41dpo cause AF hadnt shown and got the BFP. Really strange as my chart doesnt even hint that I could have ovulated later than it said. They must just float about in there for a few extra days with me!:winkwink::haha:

GNCope, good luck for tomorrow! :flower: Things look as if they are progressing well. I can't comment about your treatment but I hope your backache eases soon :hugs:.
