Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Wow so much excitement going on here that it is so hard to keep up. I am so cheering you all on though. Let's fill this forum with baby dust and positive pregnancy tests all around!
I went to dr again today. Follicles are about 16 but they need to be 18-20 to trigger. 36 hours after trigger is egg retrieval. I have so many follicles that they want to start me on new Meds tomorrow to prevent ohss. So far everything is looking good. My back is still killing me and my boobs, my poor boobs...ouch! The new Meds are supposed to make you really sick too so that is something to look forward too :(
I am totally feeling like a pin cushion and there doesn't seem to be a comfy place for shots or bloodwork anymore. Hopefully just a few more days and then I am down to one injection c'mon follies grow.
Hope you are all having a good night/day.

used the otherasda one bfn again with fmu so thats me out just waiting on af feel very sad like an idot i got my hopes up

Kelly are you still taking your temps? Are they still high? xo

:hugs::hugs:

I have used Superdrug tests in the past and have found them more reliable. Plus I've never had a BFP before my AF due date, when are you due? x

Hi everybody else, just sneaking on quickly at work, I'll catch up properly later x

:hugs: Philomena, I hope it's just a few low days you are having. Hopefully talking to your consellor will nip things in the bud. It is rarer to get pre-natal depression but I think that by even being aware that you feel low you are on your way to controlling things. I do know there are some medications (prescribed and herbal) you can take in pregnancy if need be so the help should be there. Have you tried Rescue Remedy? I'm not sure if Kalms are ok or not?

I have suffered clinical depression twice and I was worried about PND as well after my DS. I made my midwives and health visitor aware beforehand so they kept a close eye on me. Thankfully I was ok.

I hope you get the support you need xoxo

Holy cow! We went to Seattle for a week and all heck has let loose! Yay for all the bfp's!!! And for those in the tww I have my fingers crossed for you!
So excited!

Ali test already!! I'm getting impatient.... I started testing at 7 dpo knowing I might keep getting negs until af was due... I got my bfp's at 10 dpo.... What day are you on now? So many posts to catch up on and so many new ladies! I hope everyone gets their bfp's this month!

AFM. I've been feeling blue the last week or two. I'm getting a little worried as I had pretty severe post partum depression with my daughter. I was hoping it was more situational before as I was younger, and the pregnancy wasn't planned and things were stressful with her dad.... This time everything is different-baby is planned, I'm married, stable home life, no major money worries, nice home... But I'm starting to feel those irrational sad, blue feelings. I'm unmotivated and can cry at the drop of a hat. Not sure what to do. I have made an appointment with a counsellor, and talked to my midwife about it, but if it's hormonal then does that mean nothing can help?
Any suggestions from my bnb ladies? I already love this little bean and I so much want to just enjoy this pregnancy... I really am getting worried....

hi angel due monday na stopped temping as useless at it and always forgetting have cramps now mega bloated think shes on her way

Scientists Map Genomes of One Man's Sperm
The pioneering work reveals clues to fertility, how DNA is mixed and passed on.

By E.J. Mundell, HealthDay Reporter

THURSDAY, July 19, 2012 (HealthDay News) — Scientists say they've mapped the entire genomes of 91 sperm from one man, the first time such gene mapping has been done in a human gamete (sperm or egg cell).

What Makes a Healthy Sperm Count
The research gives a glimpse into recombination — the process by which DNA mixes to create offspring that carry with them traits from parents and grandparents, the Stanford University scientists explained.

"We were able to generate an individual recombination map and mutation rate for each of several sperm from one person," study co-author Barry Behr, director of Stanford's in vitro fertilization laboratory, said in a university news release. "Now we can look at a particular individual, make some calls about what they would likely contribute genetically to an embryo, and perhaps even diagnose or detect potential problems."

The findings were published July 20 in the journal Cell.

Until now, scientists had only been able look to population-wide studies to try and gauge how often recombination happened in sperm and eggs cells, and how complicated the process might be, the Stanford team stated.

The new study focused on the sperm of a healthy 40-year-old man who had normal sperm and had already fathered healthy offspring. The study found that prior population studies were fairly accurate in assessing rates of recombination.

The team reported that, as expected, the man's sperm each had undergone about 23 recombinations of DNA, although there were wide variations in this genetic mixing between individual sperm. Two of the sperm sampled were missing entire chromosomes, the authors pointed out.

Between 25 and 36 "new single nucleotide mutations" were also spotted — random mutations that can affect offspring for good or ill.

"The exact sites, frequency and degree of this genetic mixing process is unique for each sperm and egg cell," study senior author Stephen Quake, a professor of engineering, bioengineering and applied physics at Stanford, said in the news release. "We've never before been able to see it with this level of detail. It's very interesting that what happens in one person's body mirrors the population average."

The findings have implications for research into fertility, because when things go wrong with recombination, sperm can cease to be viable, the researchers noted.

"This could serve as a new kind of early-detection system for men who may have reproductive problems," said Behr, who is also a co-director of Stanford's reproductive endocrinology and infertility program. "It's also possible that we could one day use other, correlating features to harmlessly identify healthy sperm for use in IVF. In the end, the DNA is the raw material that ultimately defines a sperm's potential. If we can learn more about this process, we can better understand human fertility."

Morning Everyone!

GNCope - :hugs: and as Angel said, hang in there! Just another day or 2 until you will trigger I'm sure. They say that the follicles grow 1-3mm each day. I used my heating pad to help bring mine a long in the past. No idea if it worked but it sure felt nice to lie down and place the heating pad over my lower abdomen.

Angel - nice chart! Have you been testing at all? Your temps are still nice and high and looking great :)

Coy - sorry about your smaller computer, that is not any fun! I hope you get your other computer fixed soon. Your grasshopper infestation made me laugh. I can totally picture a pregnant lady pushing a lawn mower and cringing each time she hears the crunch of the grasshopper as it is chewed up! Enough to make anyone sick

Georgia - that was an interesting article!

Jess - Happy Friday, I think you said you were heading out of town today, so I hope you have a great long weekend!!

AFM - I had a totally vivid dream last night where I got a :bfp: and raced down to see Donna (the nurse at the FS) and she said it might be a cyst that was causing the high HCG level, but then she ran some more tests and told me that I was really pregnant! So I woke up feeling really excited to :test:
Unfortunately it was negative, again! I'm only 9DPO and if you look at my chart it looks like I may have implanted yesterday? Or maybe I implanted 2 times? I only had 1 follicle so I doubt that I implanted 2 times. I guess stranger things have happened! I feel pretty crampy/queasy right now and my right ovary was killing me last night. Ouch! I'm taking today off to enjoy a long weekend, and try to relax and catch up on some ZZZ

im sure your gonna get that bfp ali,im 12 dpo and another bfn today af due tomorrow

Sorry to hear that Kelly, hugs.

Just thought I'd add, the lower the mui the more sensitive the test xo

i just did a frer can anyone see it

OMG Kelly, YES YES YES!!!! Congratulations honey :happydance::happydance::happydance:. I just had such a positive feeling about your posts which is why I kept posting, I hope you don't mind :flower:. My guides sometimes show me these things :winkwink:.

Evening all :hi:

Alin and Ali... I'm 12DPO today and got another BFN this morning as well using an IC. AF due for me anytime between Sunday and next weekend . My body is either working its way up to the strangest AF or something is going on but I don't even want to contemplate that yet and can't really get my hopes up with a bfn this morning.

For some reason I'm not worried or that disappointed about the BFN though as I got a bit more watery discharge with a very minute bit of bright red blood again today. When I scooped up in there this evening  I found a couple more small spots of fresh blood, again not like menstrual flow. So if it's implantation I'm thinking it could still be a bit early to show up on a test? Just seems weird if it's AF it hasnt got heavier yet, I never spot beforehand. If it's AF hurry the feck up please as I want some answers!!!

Ali... when do you go for the blood test?

Georgiabelle, interesting article there!

Coy, hope you're coping with that old computer, missing you on here :flower:

Jess... have a fab weekend away xo

Not sure yet what's going on with my blood sugar. This morning it was 178! Freaked me out! My "deciding to go all natural" doctor didn't think it a GD was necessary. Now he has changed his mind and has me scheduled for the gd tomorrow morning at 7:30'ish. Strange though, when I wake up after fasting all night, have 5-6 saltine crackers and coffee it is 178...then I wait a couple hours and eat eggs and beef and it drops to 66! Dh (long time diabetic) is theorizing that as I fast and my body needs sustenance it is pulling the glucose out of my muscles, etc, to supply my blood and so it spikes. Then as I eat and provide sustenance my insulin kicks in and begins to drop my blood sugar. Sounds intelligent to me  So once again  I am going to try to remember to eat regularly (key word I think ) instead of getting hungry, brushing it aside, and waiting until later. I have been wrighing on my bathroom scale and according to that I have not gained any weight in the last 3 weeks or so  even though I am eating. Like last night instead of eating dinner with the family I went for along walk as it was cool out...didn't get my dinner until 11 pm or so instead of 6'ish. Sigh. I take care of everyone else yet my analitical mind cannot grasp my own body  lol! :haha:

Coy.... I'm glad you're getting the test done at last. It sounds as if your DH is well clued in and his theory makes sense so I hope you take his advice :winkwink:.

I hope things settle for you quickly. Is it still mega hot where you are?
