Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

TwoToGo- Ugh! I forgot the towels! :growlmad: Nightmare. I have found that if you just hang the jeans and let the drip a bit first that helps. What I hate is the fact that it runs up to my elbows! Then it just runs onto the part I've a;ready wrung out  Then I start all over. Helps if you stand in the tub with two people to do it :haha:

So we have this adopted Grandma, right? Well, she lives a couple states away so my 7 year old always writes to her. One day we get a letter saying gramma wants T to call her. So we call. Gramma's stupid son "Steve" answers and says "she can't come to the phone right now, call back in half hour". So we do and Steve says "She's napping, call back tomorrow." So we do and he says "She's watching jeapardy and doesn't wish to be disturbed, call back in an hour" so we do- and this goes on FOR DAYS literally. So we write gramma a letter. Tehn we try to call and Steve answers again! he says "Gramma is napping can I take a message?" so yeah, we leave a message with our number and ask her to call back. No response. So then we try to call again (noticing a pattern here, right?) and - you guessed it- Steve answers. Around we go. well last night dh checks his FB site and there is a message form one of gramma's daughters saying gramma has been trying to contact us could we please call her? (!!) and leave our number? (!!)) Wtf? So we email back several times then we call.

Steve answers.

"She's not available, she is napping at the moment. Would you like to leave a message?"

Sonof@!$#%!!

Hey Everyone!

Sorry I kept you all in suspense. When I got home I was really sleepy from the valium, and went to sleep. I only just woke up.

So the good news is that they 2 blastocysts they implanted were beautiful or so they said. I didn't get to see them, but I should have, and because I was all doped up I forgot. I am going to call tomorrow and see if they can email me the pictures.

The bad news is that there don't appear to be any to freeze :( Which may or may not be an issue. If these 2 sick, then we are away to the races and I won't need any additional ones. However if these don't work I am going to be one :sadangel: unhappy girl.

So they want me to come in on October 1st for my BETA and cautioned me from using HPTs before then. I think they are on crack! If I were not taking progesterone, I'd have my period by then! They were like, well you need to make sure the hCG shot is out of my system. Well they gave me the hCG shot a full week ago, and we don't need to wait 19 days for it to be gone! LOL. Anyway, I will be testing, and will be following my stages (see below).

This one is for a 5-Day Transfer:
-1dpt ..embryo is growing and developing - DONE
0dpt... Embryo is now a blastocyst - DONE
1dpt....Blastocyst hatches out of shell on this day
2dpt.. Blastocyst attaches to a site on the uterine lining
3dpt.. Implantation begins,as the blastocyst begins to bury in the lining
4dpt.. Implantation process continues and morula buries deeper in the lining
5dpt.. Morula is completely inmplanted in the lining and has placenta cells & fetal cells
6dpt...Placenta cells begin to secret HCG in the blood
7dpt...More HCG is produced as fetus develops
8dpt...More HCG is produced as fetus develops
9dpt...HCG levels are now high enoug h to be immediately detected on HPT

According to this I shouldn't even try to test with an HPT until Tuesday. So that is what we'll do!

Clearly this Steve guy does not want you to talk to her. I think you need to co-ordinate a time when one of the daughters is there and have them call you, or know when the daughters are there, and call at that time?

TwoToGo- I have had to do laundry like that- I HATE washboards! :haha: As kids that is what our mother gave us to use....None of it is too bad except for wringing out jeans, that's tough as heck! Does the spinner work on your washer at all? And I hear you on the baking- I used to love to bake bread, cookies, pies...you name it. Then I married a diabetic :laugh1: Can't do all of that anymore, a cake once in a while though...

Ali- LOL at the "fun taking Valium" bit :haha: My luck it would make me nauseas!

Babywhisperer- wow, your dh is so supportive and...available when you need him to be :haha: LOL! That's awesome. How do you know you don't ov every month? I am wondering if your lh surge is very brief and maybe you miss it on opk? Mine were never super long so I tested twice a day just to catch it

Jess- how are you today? Almost there, just a few more weeks

I almost always feel it and it causes a lot of discomfort. I get ovu cramps for 2 days.

Yeah!!! She's back & awake!! :hugs: How you feeling? I know having some to freeze would be a great back-up plan but that won't be needed. You have 2 raring to go and they are doing their job making a nice comfy home for themselves. Rest, relax, and keep your stress low. Have faith that this will happen. Look at my friend, 3 yrs of trying, several mc's, now she is almost 14 weeks along with twins! Praying for 2 healthy and sticky beans for you!

I certainly hope so! :happydance: I am feeling OK. They made me drink 72 oz of water, and then I had to hold it while they did the transfer, then after that they used a catheter to drain my bladder, but with 72 oz of water, there was far too much in there, and I almost immediately had to pee again! So on top of my ovaries being in pain (they were still very swollen and said that was normal) now my bladder/kidneys are sore because they were so full for so long! I am a little crampy, but that was also to be expected. The swelling in my ovaries will go down, and the pain in my bladder/kidneys will go away quickly I'm sure, and the cramping could last a few days. None of it is too bad. Just need to suck it up!! I have lots of movies to watch from bed, and my laptop on a breakfast tray in front of me. Plus I have 3-4 good books. I have plenty to keep me busy for another 36 hours.

Ali- Yay! You're back! Now just gotta wait :coffee: LOL! I totally agree with Babywhisperer- I don't think you'll need any to freeze. I got everything crossed for you that you'll get a sticky bfp this time round! You've done so much, now all you have to do is relax :hugs: Is the Valium still in your system? Reeelaxxxx lol! Wow, 72 ounces of fluid to drink? So we're looking at next Tuesday for testing day? :happydance: Can't wait! By then I am pretty sure the trigger should be out of your system.

AFM- my little dd's are driving me insane! LOL! They have been fighting over toys which is a huge no-no. Most of the toys got put away and I had to separate the dd's  Now that they have calmed down they are watching cartoons :haha: Sometimes a little bit of discipline goes a looonng way! They are mad at me though  They have this new thing they are trying with their papa. "Mom makes bad food, we want soemthing different for dinner". Hmmm. Lemme think. Ummmm- NO. :growlmad: LOL! They don't want steak and salad they want pizza and coke. Yeah. Me too. But I got this thing called healthy that matters so much to me  Kids'll try to get away with everything. Look out Ali! You're next :haha:

Re: gramma. Yeah, "Steve" is her worthless son (we've met before). I know I shouldn't use words like 'worthless' but I am mad at him right now....We did leave another message and I am hoping to hear from her as she hasn't been well. Her answering machine is even by Steve! It's as though he has taken over her life, crazy...:nope:

Btw- today is (drumroll) finish the closet day! :happydance: Right now the dd's room is totally gutted...and I am emptying th closet. It's as bad as the garage! See dh and I buy stuff ahead of time...like clothes to fit 10-16 year old. But hey- if they are on clearance and only cost 75 cents I'm buying it! Anyway we were storing it all int he closet and then all the other stuff that is too small- et cetera. You all get my drift :haha: By time I am done they should only have what they are going to wear this winter! Yay! I am packing the stuff that is too big and donating everything else. I tell ya the local thrift store is making a haul on this family

I am taking a break though for FOOD. I am making pork steaks, salad, and rice. Baked potatoes for the dd's as my butt-size doesn't agree with spuds :haha: I feel like sleeping all day! I wake up in the morning and I am totally exhausted stil  Hope I get this stuff done, relax a few days, and dd is born!

Very excited for you Ali and will anxiously await your BFP!!

lucaswood!! My name is Jess.
WOW! You and I have a couple of things in common! I am also 40. (41 in February) I am using the CBE OPK (Not the fertility monitor...yet) ...and as of late, my cycle seems to be about 24 (sometimes 26 days) and I ovulate around CD 11 or 12.
BTW...happy anniversary!! I'll be praying for your BFP on the 29th!!

Yes I am exactly the same this month....wow that is such a coincidence.
Found it very difficult this month to keep BD as often as you should and this really does take the fun out of things. i am 41 in December which when I type this seems really old.

I am a midwife so I already know about cervix postion and mucous etc and find that part easy. I was home temping and I chart everything too using the old fashion paper and pen method. I stopped temping this month as I started to feel flu like symptoms and like my glands were up and headaching but now looking back over things I did the same last month and I wonder if this is more a symptom for me when i'm ovulating.

I'm now 3DPO so keeping fingers crossed and hubby has said he now needs a week or so to recover. Wouldn't mind but he is 6 years younger than me. Men just cannot keep up

Hey Lucaswood, Aussie, Jess, Coy, Ali, Angel..how is everyone today?

Ali, you better be resting and feeling better! Coy, happy you're crossing things off the list...put rest and relax on that list too! Jess, I am walking better but legs still sore as can be!

I am cd 12, still no sign of ovu, no darker line on opk, no cramps...maybe I will be late if at all. I did acupuncture last night, she focused on my adrenals and reproductive system and I was relaxed for 45min in a half sleep kind of state. We bd last night again using preseed. I hate to admit this, but I kept on the inane show Keeping up with the Kardashians last night while hubs read so he could hear what Khloe is going thru to get prego. He put down his book and watched for a bit so I think he's starting to realize it doesn't happen by just having sex during the most fertile days. He's being very supportive, even asking to bd while we were both tired and he was way into his Game of Thrones book (he's obsessed). I hope I ovu this month!!

How's everyone else doing?

I completely understand about being disappointed every month that you think it is YOUR month. I'm almost 41 and I wonder sometimes if my baby factory has closed up shop. But my FS says it hasn't. Another girl I graduated from high school with just had a baby boy yesterday. His name is Lucas and he is perfect!!
The only thing I haven't tried is working out a little less than normal. I workout and run everyday...yes, everyday...7 days a week! Even when I go on vacation. So perhaps after my competition in October I will take it easy...like take Sundays off or something.

Ali...I am still praying for you!! And I have some pretty terrific feelings about your IVF!!! :)

Jess... Sundays off? Is that the best you can do? LOL! Try running every other day :haha: Has your FS said anything about your working out being a possible factor?

Lucaswood- LOL! Men need time to recover  MEN! Sheesh. Well, I guess if you've ovulated already he can have his week, right? :haha: And  I didn't know you were a midwife! Yay! Now we get to pick your brains :haha: I'll be first- I am trying to remember if nausea, multiple bowel movements in one day (tmi-sorry) and extreme exhaustion are symptoms of impending labor...OH- and what's your view on the moon phases playing aid to labor induction? Gotta full moon coming up so I have my fx'd!

Butterfly- never count this month as out until the :witch: shows her ugly face! I got my fx'd for you as well :) And I am wondering if age- our age range- really plays a factor. I am 37 and my edd is 4 weeks from now  From what I have been reading on this thread (AWESOME thread!!) is most ladies our age have fine eggs. Fx'd!

Ali- where are you lady? Hope you are resting away and taking it easy!

I hope you ladies don't mind me posting a couple bump pics...This was today, does it seem like she has dropped at all? I used 2 separate pics as I couldn't decide which showed the bump better :growlmad: lol

K, AFM--last night I almost finished the closet. O.M.G. We have stuff in there from like 7 years ago! I donated at least 5-6 30-gal bags of clothes, packed away 2 50-gal totes of clothes, now today I just have to finish organizing. I woke up so stiff and sore this morning!:haha: From all of the bending over.

Then- I am painting! Just the doors and trim, etc, as it is a crayon nightmare  I have my changing pad set up and will install the diaper genie and bath-tub today too :) Phew! Dh and I have our eyes set on that full moon next week...fx'd :)
