Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Ali,
I like the one without the tie.... he looks pleasant... I would date him! LOL....
too bad he wasn't the taller one.... it's the only thing I would switch....

And FirstTry too!

Plus those that commented on FB for me!!!!

I'm going to use the smiley guy, as my first pick, and have the tie guy as my backup. Normally you are supposed to have 2 vials of the same donor, but since the smiley guy was pretty much sold out, I had no choice but to take one from each donor. I feel good about this, and figure it will make the ER and fertilization day a little more suspenseful! :haha: Like I need more suspense!

I read a little more about smiley face (9923) and his grandfathers and father were all over 6 feet tall, and his sisters are all 5'6" and taller. He must have just gotten more of his monther's shorter heritage, but that doesn't mean that his genes don't have tallness in them. Plus most generations are taller than their predecessors. We really have no clue about my background because I was adopted. All we know is that I'm 5'7". So that is the plan! I feel really good about my decision, and thank you all for helping!!!

Smiley guy is an all round good person - he grew up in a poor household, but worked hard to get good grades and go to college and get a masters, he played sports, his grandfathers were both very athletic, one played softball in college and the other was a top ranked swimmer in his state. His grandmother spoke 5 languages, and his sister is a talented artist. Couple that with his great achievements in school, I think he is a great pick!

FirstTry - yes I hesitated posting his picture for fear that someone might recognize them in the future. But I wanted you all to see the choices too!

Sounds like a great plan, Ali!

AFM, I'm super crampy now, but not like AF. It's more like a slow, woozy cramping with an occasional sharp pain. Is that the Endometrin, my body recovering from ER/ET, or Blasty implanting????

I think we should ALL go with Blasty implanting!!

Ali- wow, sounds like SG (smiley guy :haha:) has some serious character! Not easy to pick yourself up with very little to work with and make it work iykwim!! Sounds like good personal character to me  good choice!

On 2dp5dt....
… Blastocyst attaches to a site on the uterine lining

I bet it is the blasty getting all comfortable in there!

My best advice (which I failed miserably at last time) is to relax, and just try to ignore what is happening. Just let things continue, and go about your life, with only small lifestyle changes.. like no extreme exercise, or anything where you'll be jostling your ovaries/uterus. Try meditation, or go get a massage. Whatever it takes to keep you relaxed. I don't know what day you plan on testing, but this time, I'm not going to test all that early. I just put myself through far too much emotional insanity last cycle. I was literally bonkers  so I'm going to try to be a lot more zen this time. I'm even thinking of scheduling acupuncture, and extra massages to help keep me relaxed.

According to that chart, 9dp5dt (14dpo) is when they suggest testing. So many women have seen positives as early as 5dp5dt, so I'd split the difference and test around 7dp5dt, if you are going to test early. I think I will wait until at least that time to test. Which for me will be 8dp3dt (11 dpo). That would be Dec 22nd for me (or there abouts). Literally right before Christmas!

I really hope this is your :bfp: :dust:

Thank you, Aeryn, for letting mommy sleep 2 hours at a time at night...but during the day mommy can't hold you all the time!! Lol! Ahhh! I have to get something done besides just baby-carrying :haha: I am quite the pro at typing onehanded

Oh yeah- attorney has our pretrial set for a couple weeks from now  Lol, he is demanding the other side present the bag of chicken  I LOVE my attorney! :haha: lol...Ah, that's too funny. He wants the bag they are alleging having found missing a tag...I assume he wants to weigh and compare prices witht he tag they say was on myc hicken  Not sure...

Oh yeah, dh inspected the tire that got stabbed- not just stabbed but it was quite viciously sliced on the inside as well! At least a 7 inch gash deep into the sidewall. Whoever it was really didn't want me getting home that night :growlmad: Kinda creepy.....8-[

:gun:Beware my dh whoever you are!! :ninja:

Ali- wow, sounds like SG (smiley guy :haha:) has some serious character! Not easy to pick yourself up with very little to work with and make it work iykwim!! Sounds like good personal character to me  good choice!

Well I also think that the other guy would be just fine. Now there is a little bit of fate occurring here. I'm going to leave it to the discretion of the embryologist to decide which donor to use. She is going to look at both, and if both are the same, then go with smiley face, but if his is sub-par, then she has tie guy as backup. Nothing like some intrigue to add to the mix! :haha: I am very happy with my decision, and feel really good about this cycle.

I was just doing the math above. The latest day that we'd probably do the egg retrieval is Dec 11th, then add 11 days to that (11dpo) would be Dec 22nd, and 14 days is Christmas! :xmas16: So I wasn't kidding when I said I am hoping for a :bfp: for Christmas!!! Plus my Mom arrives on Dec 22nd, and my brother arrives on Dec 23rd, so wouldn't that be great! Oh and I have Dec 25th through Jan 3rd off, and will likely work from home Dec 24th and Jan 4th (so I'm basically home for 2 weeks straight)!!!

Ali- stop doing the math! You just got done telling FirstTry that you were going to chill this cycle  lol! Sheesh! :hugs:

(I totally understand though- so go ahead and do the math!! :) )

Go Mr Attorney! That is really funny. However without any proof they really have no case. So that is probably what he is going for. A dismissal.

So sorry these people are so horrible. You need to move to FL, people here are all different races, cultures and ethnicities, we all live together in relative peace too. Sure there is crime, but I doubt it would be motivated by things like being an interracial couple, there are plenty of them here! Nobody bats an eyelash (as it should be). Plus we'd have so much fun :happydance: HEHE :haha: I'm glad you are keeping that head held high and fighting with tooth and nail! They don't know who they are messing with :gun::grr:

you might get your BFP right about when I have this baby!! Yay! Christmas!!

what if they just mixed the samples and let the stronger spermy win?? good ol' duke it out manliness?? *grin*

Go Spermies!!

AFM-
I had my consult with the obstetrician yesterday. It was pretty good. She had a resident come in and take my history etc and I understand these kids need to learn, but she was a little patronizing.... I think I've done more research on this than she has.... and I'm almost certain she's never had a baby herself (the resident, I mean).... she indicated that they like to put the IV lock in place with all moms who come into the hospital whether they have GD or not.... I'm thinking... right.... you've never had a baby chickie.... or you wouldn't be telling me what 'you' are deciding to do to 'me' without knowing any of my history, or preferences or phobias etc.... I chalked her up to being 'green'..... the problem with the medical industry is that sometimes they feel like they can just tell you what's going to happen to you, without actually involving you in any of the decision making process! It's still my body! Sheesh!
So the Obstetrician came in and I liked her instantly. Warm, broad smile, and as we went over my questions and concerns, I felt like she was really listening to me and that she really did have ME and this BABY at the forefront of her concern, and not just what was convenient to them (as doctors).... (I hope her resident was listening and watching!!)

SO, what the plan is now is for me to just keep doing what I've been doing. She's quite happy with how the GD is controlled and the size of the baby is fine for now. As for the placenta, she said we'll keep an eye on it, and the time to worry is if I'm on a significant level of insulin (which I am at night at least) and suddenly don't need as much anymore... it could indicate that the placenta has stopped working properly - that my own body is taking over the insulin production again.... so that's good information for me to have. If that doesn't happen, then probably the placenta is doing fine....
I'm going to go for another scan at 37 weeks to see how big baby is and then I see the obstetrician at week 38 to go over how things are.... if everything is still going well, then she sees no problem with letting me go into labour naturally and leaving me with my midwives!
I definitely need my midwives! I've had to give up a home birth, but I can't afford to lose my midwives! It's been such a stressful pregnancy (not the pregnancy, just everything else!) that I need to hang onto them for emotional reasons.... and thankfully, all the professionals around me seem to understand that and are doing what they can to keep it together for me!!

So that's my good news for now.... I hope today finds everyone getting good news, too!!

If it's a civil suit, what are they suing for, like $5? Or to ban you from the store?

What is your actual due date? That is really exciting!!!

OHH.. I don't know if I want to mix things up, that would be scary! :dohh: Especially since I paid to know the donor, then I wouldn't know again! :haha:

I wouldn't worry about the resident, they are there to learn and she is probably going by what the textbooks say should be done. We all know reality is WAY DIFFERENT. The important part is that you connected with the actual Dr, and that you made a birth plan that you are both happy with. :happydance: I certainly hope that everything works out and that you can have your baby with your midwives (even if it is in the hospital setting). That sounds like a good compromise. That way you can continue like you planned, but if something goes wrong, you are at the hospital and they will have the technology to handle it. I'm so excited for you! This holiday season is shaping up to be a very special one for many of us

I'm not sure, lol...I think the actual dollar amount would be something like between $2 and $6 yeah... but not positive on that. Ban me fromt he store? I don't think a manager has to sue to get that done they can just do it if that's what they want. My opinion is though that there is someone in town that has a serious problem with dh and I and this flurry of attacks seems to be happening on the tail end of our other lawsuit wrapping up  Hm...who could I have ffended by living? lol :haha:

YAY! I got to go for a walk--all by myself! :headspin: lol! Albeit it was sleeting out at the time and blowing some too but- ahhh :cloud9: Nice. :)

Got some ice cream and punkin (yes, pun-kin) pie :haha: too...just for kicks I guess and to help my thighs from shrinking.......

Ali- wow, sounds like SG (smiley guy :haha:) has some serious character! Not easy to pick yourself up with very little to work with and make it work iykwim!! Sounds like good personal character to me  good choice!

Official due date is January 3rd.... 38 weeks is December 20th.... so somewhere in between?? Babes could decide to come anytime between 38-42 weeks (but they probably won't let me go past official due date) or if babes is getting too big in their opinion, or there's a problem with the placenta, then they could pull the plug sooner....

Do you have any friends in town that can sort of shadow you when you go out from a far enough distance that it's not obvious that she/he is watching people around you..see if someone snoops around your car, or any suspicious behavior? Some people have too much free time mixed with hate for them to vandalize your tire. I would fill out a report to establish a pattern of harassment.

Blasty/FirstTry...love the pic!! Biology is a miracle...and you give me hope!

Ali, we chatted, I vote for smiley. And I agree with Coy, stop doing math! I bet you have a spreadsheet going...for reals.

Phil - sounds like you are on top of things, I hope baby makes an appearance for Christmas!!

Afm, guess what? No second smiley today! I don't know what that means. Maybe I would have gotten it if I tested later 2 nights ago. What I DO know is HOLY OVULATION PAIN!! I know we need to bd again tonight, but ouchy the pinching. Does the cramping/pinching mean I've ovulated or are about to? Oh it aches. And he is another weird thing besides only 1 smiley...I'm getting cramping on my left side! I either fell it on my right or not at all. I think I feel it on my left 1-2 times a year. What gives? Still no call back from the FS so I am calling them tomorrow. Should I just ask for a cd3 appt and set up a time when I think that will be?

You know I started with dull cramps last night and bd kind of hurt, I'm wondering if I missed the eggy.

Phil- oh ouch- please don't refer to it as "pulling the plug" because there is an actual plug in there! lol! haha you made me laugh at that one :hugs: Fx'd it all goes smoothly...with the GD will they still let you do home birth?

Babywhisperer- nope, no friends in town :nope: lol! I AM a sad case aren't I? Nope, just dh and I....everyone here pretty much hates us, one- he's Oglala Lakota (half) and two- neither of us are locals...yeah, it just gets worse form there. If God let's us we are going to move asap! But I do arry recorders and have a video on at all times.
