Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

By the way Coy... tanning in Hawaii would not be a problem for meeeee! bahahahahaha!!! Being half German and half black, I have that natural tan...but I still love love love the sun, water, and sand! Beaches are fantastic!

I am and my husband is as well. With the exception of two states, you have to graduate from an ABA-approved law school to sit for the bar. Law school is three years. It is a great profession. I have the "nail-em" gene too; I never wanted to be any type of lawyer except a prosecutor. I am not currently working, and I miss it! Good luck with everything, and I will be happy to give you any guidance you might want.

A prosecutor!! Wow!! I always wondered how prosecutors handled it when they are having to go to trial for someone that might be innocent. Have you ever had to do that? You probably already told us but how old are you? How long have you been an attorney? Are you not working by choice or has the job market played a role in your unemployment? I work in legal services for the state of Texas and I know a lot of the attorneys in our office do extra consulting stuff online. Have you ever thought about doing that?
(I'm so nosey!) :hugs:

Actually, what most inspired me to follow this career path was the number of wrongful convictions that happen in the US . I thought about working for The Innocence Project, but I pretty quickly realized that those people are up against incredibly overwhelming odds. They are constantly pushing up against an enormous brick wall. Prosecutors are in a position to make the real difference with this problem. I would NEVER prosecute someone I felt was innocent. It works differently in different jurisdictions, but in the one I worked in, the elected prosecutor gave his people tremendous latitude in deciding which cases to take. I am not working now because my husband and I want to have a family. I was at a good place to take a break. Do you like working in legal services? What do you do for them? (I do not consider it nosy- it seems friendly :)).

Sorry- I am 35 and 3 years. (I am not great at this thread thing yet, so sorry for the split reply...)

K, dh and I are talking Hawaii... He swears I can get a tan there  I def have a red-head complexion :sad1: Takes a lot mixed with a miracle for me to tan :haha: Plus dh says they don't stab your tires there for being howlie  lol!

Right now Hawaii sounds sooOOoo awesome....any of you ladies been there?

Ali- I have ben to FL once in January ('99 or 2000) in Tampa, it was nive but humid!! Ahh! lol Dh went to university there somewhere but I forget which part..

Hawaii.. sounds awesome, but it is mega expensive. I am with you on the tan (or lack thereof). I can't tan either! Living in the northern part of the state isn't as expensive and it is more temperate I think. Like around St. Augustine? I think you would like it here or Hawaii. Just as long as you MOVE!

Did you see my post about the reality tv show?

Oh and I'm going to start acupuncture next week.

Oh oh.. and guess what? My freaking hives are back.:dohh:

No, what reality tv show?? I am going to post-back-track...re:the hives...I still think one of your meds (Lupron?) must be from a diff manufacturer and you may be allergic to something??

ali...your hives are back? Like, they came back since your post this morning??? Wow...that is no bueno!! Have you been sticking to your gluten free diet? Do you normally get hives? Benadryl has the same affect on me as it does on you...knocks me OUT!

Sorry that this is like my tenth post of the day. Anyway, I had scheduled an appointment with an Ob/Gyn. Then, for some reason, I googled her and read all the reviews. I have never done this before, but I am SO glad I did! There were lots and lots of reviews on several sites, and they all said basically the same things: the office is filthy (EWWW!), the staff is rude and incompetent, and the doctor is an arrogant witch. I rescheduled with a different office! My appointment is still Wednesday, which was a stroke of luck. I am NOT putting my feet in stirrups in a filthy office! Do any of you have juicy doctor horror stories? (Besides poor Ali and the $3o+K with funky sperm!)

Jen- sweet! I can use all the guidance you can give out! I know Idaho has a law school down near Meridian I think but I'd have to double check. I know Hawaii has a good one!~ I am attracted to prosecution as well, though dh tells me defense is more lucrative :sad1: lol!

Jess- :grr: I know, I love your natural tan! I am jealous! My dh is half Italian, half Native American so he and our dd's tan so easily...for me it takes weeks of effort! lol

Btw, thanks for all the comments on post-prego fitness ladies :hugs: I am trying to focus smart here... Can't wait to get the garage set up and be ready to work out again....

Jen...I write rules that govern the different aspects of the Department of Aging and Disability Services (such as nursing facilities and assisted living facilities). I DO NOT like my job! :nope: I am very much a social creature and I need HUMAN interaction. I have limited interaction with others and spend most of my time at my desk working from my computer. It is like a morgue in my office...freezing and eerily quiet.
I am hoping to get a job working in HR for the school district. But I havent heard back yet. I'm an excellent writer and a wiz at statistics. But honestly, the BEST job I have ever done was teaching. As a grad student I was a graduate teaching assistant and taught political science and social statistics. LOVED it! But not willing to get a PhD to do it as a career.

Jess- I am sooOoo willing to go for PhD! :haha: It's psychological I know...I had to teach myself through grade and highschool and on the day I got my diploma dad told me it was just a scrap of garbage  Nuh-uh, I had to work for that! So I sort of developed a drive.... I am addicted now, lol!

Btw, Jess what do you mean "write rules that govern the different aspects of the Department of Aging and Disability Services " what kind of rules? You mean you create the rule boko ? Cool!

What in the world? :growlmad: Why would a dad tell his daughter that???? Sounds like he has some issues of his own that he needs to resolve. And perhaps by trying to make you feel less than adequate makes him feel better about himself. So sad... You are awesome!

I used to feel that way about school, but writing my thesis (aka Applied Research Project) sucked the life out of my pursuit for higher education. But, maybe one day I will feel better about it. I really would love to teach college...I actually think I could teach at a junior college with my masters. I need to look into that...

Btw, Jess what do you mean "write rules that govern the different aspects of the Department of Aging and Disability Services " what kind of rules? You mean you create the rule boko ? Cool!

Well, the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) was created to administer long-term services and supports for people who are aging as well as for people with intellectual and physical disabilities. DADS also licenses and regulates providers of these services, and administers the state's Guardianship program.
The legislature writes the laws and we are responsible for writing the rules that have to be followed based on the laws. It is very tedious...calls for a lot of interpreting since the legislature is so good at writing very vague laws!!

Jess- ugh, that does sound tedious!! re:my da. Yeah, he dropped out in grade school so I think that is why

Would you mind me asking a few fitness/food tips?
1) best natural protein source
2) are bananas really fattening or carb loaded?do you eat them?
3) can I spot-reduce (pleeease say yes, but I know the answer already...:sad1:)lol!

WOW.. I think my email is all messed up.. it didn't tell me about ANY of the posts the past 3 pages.. nuts!

I am a bit lost though..

Coy.. love the new signature!!!

I'm not doing the reality TV thing, but it was fun to laugh at it! This production company out of Miami has selected my clinic and they want to audition women that are single and wanting to be mom's and are doing so by IVF, or adoption or whatever. They want women that have strong careers and have social lives, and possibly women that are dating too. So I read the brochure, but I don't think I'm interested. I doubt they would pay enough $$ to make me interested. Plus I'm not one of those ladies that wants to air my dirty laundry on live (or non-live) TV!

The hives seem to come and go.. I get one, and it is pretty bad, then it goes away, and I'm fine. NO idea what it is all about.

1) best natural protein source
Answer: Egg whites and Fresh tuna (Canned is ok too!) Egg whites and tuna are both low in fat and calories and high in protein.

2) are bananas really fattening or carb loaded?do you eat them?
Answer: Bananas are high in fat...however, they are a good source of potassium. I like them in Frosted Flakes!! But I don't eat them very often at all...maybe 4 times a year.

3) can I spot-reduce (pleeease say yes, but I know the answer already...:sad1:)lol!
Answer: :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
:haha::haha::haha::haha::haha: the simple fact is that we all gain weight differently and in different areas. Where ever you gain weight first is the same place you will lose it last...cold, hard fact!!

Coy...You're so FUNNY!! Please see my responses above to your questions....

Ok, I am guessing my milk must be changing....we are having squirt issues on both ends! Aaargh! lol! we go through about 4 diapers per changing set  lol! and i forgot burp cloth today so have had to change clothes at least once  She'll adjust to the richer milk soon and then growth-spurt out of newborn into 0-3 months! :haha: Then we'll start the circle again :) She's so cute when she's hungry--she yells really loud and whacks at me with her fists (MMA potential maybe?) then when she realizes she's going to get fed her eyes get really wide and bright, and she starts to kick her feet! :haha:

Jess- lol, I know huh?! Yeah spot-reduction is a pipe-dream :sad2: lol, but I can always hope! Nuts! I didn't know where we gain first we lose last :growlmad: nuts...:sadangel:.....

Ali- I bet they don't pay enough to make it worth the trouble! Plus stress would skyrocket...odd though, huh, that they'd be scouting right when you are in middle of this. Hey! You could get famous! :winkwink: Your donor be all like "wanna meet?":haha:

It's kind of like having senority on the job. Last hired-first fired...well, last gained-first lost...which means the longer the fat is there, the longer it gets to stay... so sad, but true...
