Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Yes Chantal be ZENNNNNNNNNNN:thumbup:

Alicatt- I was sleeping, but trying to wake up at 630 against my will and the dog stepped on me so I took my temp. I went back to sleep for 3 hours and took it again and it was even higher. So I input my first temp... it is high regardless. What does this mean? I haven't seen this:dohh:

I'm drinking my :coffee:
thank-you Ali and Samsfan , I will try to be positive. Sorry for the rant I will try to see an obgyn in Barbados but I remember I had to wait almost 2 weeks for an appointment. Going to another GP is pointless. I have leave for PA soon to meet With Dh's family. Not telling them anything.

Have a wonderful day ladies!

OK! You never know  Have an awesome time in Barbados and just be Zen! I understand the rant and feel free to do it again! That is what we are here for!

Sam- take the first one as long as you had 4 hours of sleep. The whole idea of basal temp is to get your temp before anything interferes to increase it. Like getting up to go to the bathroom, or having a sip of water. Just moving will alter your temps! It's  crazy how much a little move will make. I remember when I was temping, I'd wake up grab the thermometer and lie there bursting because I had to per and thinking this is torture! Those 60 seconds felt like 60 minutes! LOL

Okay I feel crampy...but maybe my tummy doesn't like coffee..

Chantal- honey you are stressing yourself out! 1) your chart. Your temps will be hokey because you are not sleeping as you should (deeply) plus you are stressing.

Temps are hinkey.

K. That having been said- there is no pint (according to my doc) in getting your hormone levels checked unless you are checking hcg. Your progesterone will measure normal until it's "too late" so to speak. That is why docs issue the progesterone throughout the first 12 weeks as a safeguard. So- don't stress on getting al that done! And your dh is right- think positive. Picture that baby growing and nurture it :hugs: You will be FINE! Re: stomach acid. Calcium based Tums is fine- I took it throughout my 3 pregnancies! And I agree with Sam..you are def hormonal! :haha: :hugs:

Sam- hm, chicken and fries you say? Nothing wrong with that! Although if it's really greasy fries maybe just once in a while? And I would advise against "strict with food". My food HATES to be strict! :haha: I like to say...here I will eat healthy- over there I'm gonna be bad :winkwink: Give yourself an occasional out and just be careful. Oh yeah- you are 5dpo so waaaaay too early to test...and I say BE HOPEFUL!! Your charts lookin' good :winkwink: And as for the tummy cramps- mine sometimes does that with coffee but I whip it back in to shape and have another mug :laugh2: BTW, caffeine is bad for egg travel through tubes so hopefully your coffee is caffeine free??

Ali- how are ya? Did you decide either way or call your FS about the provera? I would think it'd be safe to stop as hell- tomorrow is Sunday! No big deal I'd think  Just a day, and obviously your body is ready!

Jess- Hi lady!!

AFM- ugh- sleepless night! Nothing to do with fevers, just Kat being a buttsy girl again. She did finally get herself in trouble when she woke me (for about the 8th time) to change her pillow case as she had recently determined she did NOT like the color green  I told her to suffer with green and go back to sleep (through gritted teeth) LOL! Aaaargh! She is testing boundaries I think. Plus I am afflicted with sneezes this morning? And I cooked breakfast for everyone ('cept me of course, I am planning....) and my little angel girl is still sleeping! Usually she wakes by 8:30 or so, she's 2 hour sleep in! Must be growing. So I am sitting next to her drinking coffee :coffee: and writing. Today I shop for one more week supply. I try to focus on lean meats on sale, fat free yogurt (protein), etc...

Coy- It has caffeine in it.. can't do it any other way. My pants are too tight today.

today I received my prescription for all my drugs...oh boy... what am I supposed to do with all of these. I can't take these... Its like a huge list!

Coy is right about caffeine and it affecting implantation. Once you start your cycle you'll have to go caffeine free! No tea, coke, chocolate, coffee. Caffeine free is ok, but definitely not full strength. It constricts the blood flow to the uterus making it harder for the bean to implant. I think they'll go through the list when you are there. Things like caffeine, alcohol and tobacco are the top 3 that they will ask you to refrain from at a minimum during the 2WW. I would suggest curtailing them when you start the cycle.

The meds are definitely a little scary. Each Doctor has their own protocols and their own preferences, but the general idea is this: BCP, then overlap Lupron with the BCP for 5 days, then stop BCP but continue the Lupron. Then about 3 days after you stop your period, you start your stimulation meds, I was on Menopur and Bravelle, but some Doctors use Gonal F or Follistim. Then you will probably take doxycycline and medrol starting on ER day for 4 days. Then your Dr will have you start progesterone (pill, suppository or shot), and possibly estrogen as well from ET through until you do your BETA test. Does that sound about right? As I said, each Dr has different protocols that they like, but that is the general flow of an IVF cycle.

I hope that helps!

Sorry you had a frustrating night with the girls, sounds like Kat is testing her boundaries. Did you say she is 3 or 4? I think around that time kids are learning how to manipulate and get what they want and they test you to see how far they can get. It also doesn't help that she has been superseded as the 'baby' in the family. I know she is still young, but you can have her 'help' you with Aeryn and show her how to change a diaper or feed Aeryn (once she is eating baby food) so that she feels like she is part of it. Also make special Kat time, go on a walk or buy crafts that you do with just her on occasion. You made me laugh with the 'green' pillow case. Why on earth does it matter what color it is? The lights are out and its dark, and it could be any color in the rainbow but until the light catches it, its dark! Your kids crack me up! :haha:

I hope you get your groceries without incident this week! I'm about to head out and do the same thing. I have to run to Kohl's and return something, and then to Target to return something, and while I'm there I'll pick up some food for the week. I'm thinking make your own pizza tonight with my GF pizza crusts. What else should I make? HMMM.

I spent the day with my Mom, we went out for lunch and had grilled Artichokes and a salad. The artichokes are the specialty at this restaurant and a must have! YUM! Then we went to the Morikami Japanese Gardens, quite fun! I can feel the front coming through, the wind has picked up and the sky has cleared, it is going to be COLD here soon! I just looked at the temps and it's only going to be a high of 59 tomorrow. That is COLD for south Florida! Might have to turn on my fake fireplace!:haha:

BTW.. Coy I did not take the provera pills today, I hope my FS isn't mad but I just couldn't do it anymore. It was definitely causing my fatigue and migraines.. both have gone away! :yipee:

Ali- thanks! Yes, she is testing her boundaries. Yesterday we did have "just us" time...we went shopping, went for a walk, I bought her special school supplies...and she does help in changing Aeryn, "babysitting" (she watches her in her bed while I wait nearby :haha: ) I don't know why she gets that way. Some nights are great- others, she is up every 40 minutes! I hope she outgrows it...because she is getting mouthy too- and with daddy  lol!

Yay for no more Provera! I would love to have 59 degree weather! We have a snow storm on the ay...:sad1:

It was 70 today and perfect for a walk in the Japanese garden. We had a great time :) I'm home now and watching some hockey. I'm exhausted! Going to go to bed early, that is for sure! I think they were saying that with the windchill the temp is going to be close to 25 in some areas overnight :cold: I don't mind, I miss the cooler weather!

Glad you are having fun with Kat, maybe the next time you are at the pediatricians you can ask them about her sleep troubles. I know my nephew had night terrors and they got him a dream catcher, and that helped him get back to sleep. His parents told him that if he had a bad dream that the dream catcher would take it and he wouldn't have to worry. With your DH's Native ancestry, he may be able to help with this? Maybe you can make one with her? Worth a try!

So tomorrow I'm all set to cook and do laundry and hopefully taxes too. I doubt I will leave the house, it is my day to stay home and relax! Well and cook too... :haha:

OH no..I'll be cranky without caffeine... especially diet coke. No meds until after my period starts. Then they are putting me on Menopur and Bravelle just like you said. Pretty scary. I feel real bloated right now... so idk how I'm gonna feel when I'm on these drugs.

BTW Alicatt The weather in florida last weekend was gorgeous. I so enjoyed it there. Back to New York, where I don't feel like doing a thing in the cold weather. Work and home.

OK so that is just like my first cycle. We didn't do the BCP or Lupron that cycle. So I guess they are adding ganirelix to the mix as well. This is taken for the last 5-7 days before ER and it stops you from ovulating until they can get in there and grab the eggs. Oh and I forgot the HCG trigger! You'll take that 36 hours before the ER. Don't you worry, it sounds scary but it really isn't. The menopur and bravelle shots you will likely do in your belly, and if yours is as ample as mine, then it won't hurt at all :haha: Since I was doing multiple vials of each a day, they showed me how to mix multiple vials together into 1 syringe so it was just one shot a day.
Have they told you what kind of progesterone you will be using? If it is PIO (progesterone in oil) then you'll be stabbing your ass, and that is the painful one. It doesn't hurt too badly during the actual injection, but since the progesterone is in oil it tends to make your bum lumpy and bruised  That was the worst part of my IVF cycles.

This cycle I'm going to have both estrogen and progesterone shots and both will be in the read. OUCH! Not looking forward to that at all :nope:

If you are that addicted to caffeine, then I would wean yourself off of it now as opposed to waiting until you are in your 2WW. From what I've heard, a lot of people get really bad headaches from the caffeine withdrawal and you won't be able to take too many pain meds during your 2WW. Just a thought. I am not a huge coffee :coffee: drinker, I do like my tea, but can easily switch to caffeine free.

OK, I'm hockey'd out, my team won 3-0 yay, and our young goalie got a shutout, so that was fun. There was even an empty net goal at the end, something I haven't seen in a while. So that was fun  I'm going to go take some aleve and pull out my down duvet and go to bed

Yes, we've had some pretty nice weather this year. Warmer than normal, as this is the time of the year when we can get cooler weather, but it hasn't happened. At leas until now! I had my screen door open and the cool air felt so good. MMM. I am not sure I will sleep with the windows open though, not sure I want it to be 40 degrees in my bedroom when I wake up! :argh:

Glad you had some nice weather while you were here, and I hope you relaxed and enjoyed yourself!

Coy another snowstorm? I didn't know it was so snowy in Idaho. That's where you are right? It must be challenging with 3 daughter all with different personalites. One day when one is in a good mood another is having a bad day. You are supermom!

I didn't POAS stick today. Decided to just enjoy getting together with family. It was fun. Dh's step mother announced that she was going to be a Grandmother again and looked at us and said "you are next, we are rooting for you." Seeing her today made me remember the comment she had told us last ivf (9 months ago)that she had a good feeling about us having a Valentines baby but the ivf was unsuccessful. However she was right about the good feeling about Valentine's day :haha:

On the drive there I got a call with my beta levels. She said I was 3-4 weeks pregnant with a beta of 35. That means you were right Coy I was probably only 13 dpo and not 15 like ff had indicated. On our way back home we stopped at a walmart and picked up some early pregnancy tests. Dh is always buying me tests and I usually wait till af is due and then end up not using them so he said lets make up for lost opportunity. He said it's fun doing hpts and watching the second line come up. I had lots of pinching and bubbling in my uterus and (tmi alert!)
ewcm but it was bright yellow instead of clear

I will post a pic of the test tomorrow :winkwink:

Chantal- So Exciting! I'm glad you received a call about your beta levels. It is for real! So exciting! Keep positive!!!!

Ali it Sounds like a wonderful day with your Mom at the Morikami Japanese Gardens :) I love artichokes so much. I also wish it was 59 here. It will be 84-86 in Barbados can't wait for Monday!

Alicatt- You hit it right on the nose with the progesterone in oil and whatever they are adding. I have to say this... I'm just going to say it.. I can't help but wish that I won't have to get to IVF and this month it happened spontaneously. I'm suspect of my temps and its very unlike me to take naps. 3 days in a row I've taken naps. I'm just probably really tired, but I'm praying its not that. My breasts are also very tender and I feel so bloated....early pms?:haha: Well I'm praying for something more than anything this month...and part of the reason is this IVF stuff sounds really scary.

Ok Sam I will stay positive :) Do you think 35 is normal for 13 dpo? I may have another one done in Barbados to see if they are rising. My breasts starting hurting tonight. I am relieved as I wasn't feeling anything and last time my breasts hurt from a few days before bfp but I was more like 18 dpo. I love Answer tests as they are cheaper than first response and they also detect 25 mIU.

Sam :dust: for you. Your chart is looking good

Sounds wonderful. I really enjoyed the weather. I relaxed and did alot of :sex: and it was my ovulation weekend. Florida is great.. We are looking to buy something down there. Just don't know where yet

Chantal- I think its totally fine. Indicates you are definately pregnant. I wish you could see a doctor for a beta in a couple of days as it should double every 48 hours. You are preggers:thumbup:

Yes, I gain a few here and there...mostly a few here.
time to take out the elastic I guess!!!!
Hope we both get some fairy dust!!!!!!

Where is Chantal?

Anyway ... I have 3 days off! Sorry for the second post, but I hit the button by accident. Love your schedule Alicatt! 2013!!!! Here we come!

I'm scheduled for an approximate retrieval on March 7th and transfer on March 10th, a Sunday! but who knows...

Perfect, so by March 17th you'll be 10 DPO and ready to start testing  :yipee: :happydance:

Here I am Samsfan. Congrats on your IVF cycle starting! That is sooo exciting!:happydance:

Ali woohoo for :af: and being able to have your baby in 2013.

Coy I hope your children feel much better soon :hugs:

I couldn't keep my eyes open after 9pm. Then I woke up at 3 am and havent been able to sleep. I have some serious acid reflux probably from all the stress. I know I cant take omeprazole and I am afraid to take even tums. Friday was a very frustrating day. The "appointment specialist" finally phoned me back to give me my prenatal appointment with high risk OBGYN. She apologized but said they were short staffed from so many people being sick with the flu. Well get this, my appoint. isn't till March 18th!! :saywhat: I said I wasn't comfortable with waiting that long because that's 8 1/2 weeks. Embryo had stopped growing around 7 1/2 weeks the first time I miscarried and I was walking around thinking my baby was growing till 9 1/2 weeks. I don't want to go through that again. :sad2: It took me 3 years to get pregnant again and I would like more to be done this time like my hormone levels checked etc. Yes Samsfan I went to the doctor but it was just a GP and she wasn't giving me any results. She said the OBGYN would do that. But they frigging won't see me till 18th March! :growlmad: Maybe I am just spoilt from IVF cycles and the nurses being on call and telling me my numbers etc. Problem is I didn't get pregnant through fertility treatments and so I don't get special attention :sad2: I will call back the RE again and ask if they think it is normal for me to have to wait till 8 1/2 weeks.

With IVF they do first ultrasound at 5 1/2 weeks. Then they pass you on to your OBGYN. So in otherwords it's better at my age to do IVF than to get pregnant naturally or as the RE nurse called it "spontaneously pregnant" :sadangel: Hubby keeps telling me to come back to bed and just think positive thoughts. I told him to leave me alone. I felt all positive the first time around and then I felt like an idiot when the ultrasound tech said my baby stopped growing. My cousin who also has fibromyalgia said that before she had her son she she had another pregnancy which was a miscarriage and during that pregnancy she felt depressed and her mood was bad just like mine. I have had bad mood swings like this since 10 dpo. I shouted at Dh 9th Feb over something stupid the morning of his birthday party. Now he said he knows it was hormones. Oh I also need a rogam shot if I have any kind of spotting because I am A- and Dh is B+. That is an added worry. When I started spotting with the miscarriage I had read that alot of women have spotting during first trimester and so I wasn't too worried but phoned OBGYN still to tell them and they said I had to get there ASAP for rogam shot. Sorry about the super loong rant ladies! You all are the only ones that understand me. :hugs:

I have alot of bubbling in my uterus like a couple days before :af: is due :( FF didn't like the drop in temp I had this morning and circled it on my chart. Is this a bad sign?

Hi Chantal,
after I got my POAS bfp, I went in to my GP who had me POAS again to confirm. Then I got on with midwives, but didn't see them until I was 8 weeks.

I think you could ask to get a confirmation ultrasound, but at this point you would just see the egg sack and not any heartbeat etc.... that doesn't show on ultrasound until around the 6 weeks mark.... and usually they can't pick up the heartbeat with a doppler until 9 weeks at the earliest (though most won't even try until the 12 weeks mark).

Then perhaps you could request another ultrasound 2-3 weeks later to confirm that the baby is growing.... with maternal anxiety as a reason?
Here I could have had my GP do that for me.... I don't know if it's different in America...?

Babes just woke up screaming, poor thing.... gotta dash! more later!
phil.
