Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Thanks Phil for reassuring me that 8 weeks is a good time. So I am now in the 4ww after bfp I suppose. I am hoping that since I am going to a high risk OBGYN that she will give me ultrasounds to make sure baby is growing. GP's don't do that here.

How is breastfeeding with babes? I would love to hear how her sleep patterns are and how you are feeling healing from your c-section.:hugs:

I just looked up the HCG levels on the countdown to pregnancy website and on day 14 the median is 48, so 35 sounds about right for 13 DPO! Sams is right, they do normally want to see it double every 48 hours at this point in the pregnancy.

Now get some rest! LOL! I'm in bed now.. took the doggies for a quick walk, made the bed, mmmm fresh sheets! Now to read a little and  I'm pretty crampy and achy still, not complaining since I'm so happy AF is here!

I just looked this up:
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) Levels
From Conception hCG Level
0-1 Weeks 0 - 50 mIU/ml
1-2 Weeks 40 - 300 mIU/ml
3-4 Weeks 500 - 6,000 mIU/ml

Looks like a beta of 35 is very low huh?

Ali you must have read my mind!! I like the numbers you posted much better than the ones I found.

Me too! You can check out betabase as well, or countdowntopregnancy.com each have ranges of hCG levels! I have heard more than once that the initial number doesn't matter so much as long as its within normal range. It is more important to see it doubling. Since you won't be able to get another BETA for a while, you'll just have to be patient! If you are able to get a test in Barbados, remember that each lab us different and so your numbers could vary a little. As long as its going up and you feel good then I think all will be fine!

those numbers are from count down to pregnancy and I just found my paper from FS and it was the same. I am puzzled how they could determine I was 3-4 weeks from a low beta of 35??

maybe they say 35, but at their place, that means 3500? you never know, really, since every place has a different way of labelling it.... as long as it's going up, you're fine....

I wouldn't get too caught up in the numbers since any other place which gives you a number would be like comparing apples to oranges... so you will have to wait until the same place gives you a new number to see if it's going up....

Chantal, just keep doing all the fabulous things you are doing right now... eat well, (Tums is ok in pregnancy, by the way!) and take care of yourself and let it be good for you.... enjoy this time as much as you can.... POAS all the time if you need to! (I did multiple POAS's the first 8-9 weeks.... then even later on until I could feel her move inside me!) POAS was the thing that kept me sane.... as long as the line was still there, I was good..... then when I heard the heartbeat for the first time was magical, and made it more real.... then seeing her in the scan....

phil.

Thank-you Phil. ok I will wait till I return and have a beta from the same place. I was just reading that late implantation causes low betas. Dh said you are right. He can't wait to see the 2 lines tomorrow morning :) I think I am going to cry when I hear the heartbeat!

Sweet dreams Phil and Ali and Sam!

Good morning everyone!

Chantal- Can't wait to see your pic!

So I've gained 10 lbs since Christmas! I'm on it! I went to gym this am. I'm going to cut out my diet coke..but I'll keep drinking my one cup a day until next week.

How is everyone doing?

Don't forget that you have 0 hCG in your system during weeks 1-3, it isn't until about 6-8 DPO that it starts being generated by the embryo as it implants. So you can't be any earlier than 3 weeks pregnant!

How is everyone doing?

You and me both! I have gained almost 20 lbs since early December. Yes I said 20. I didn't lose the weight from the IVF and then I had this wonky cycle where I bloated up and ate all sorts of bad things. So now I'm in serious trouble!

I promised myself as soon as I got my period I would get back on the GF diet, so starting Monday I'm back on it. The first few days are difficult but after that I feel great, and the weight sheds off. So I hope to be down at least 10 of those lbs in the next 3 weeks. Think I can do it?

Hanging in there. CD5, so just in wait for O. We moved yesterday in our newly built house....got everything unpacked and now it's time to refill the fridge. I also need to start figuring out what part of the house to decorate first!

Ooh.. decorating! Love doing it. It is so much fun! Sorry AF got you, but here is to trying again! Hopefully you will be able to get a few more :sex: in before your ovulation. I'm thinking if you can start in 5 days and get it in every other day for 7 days, you should hit your fertile window perfectly!

Here is a calculator that will allow you to calculate your fertile days:

https://www.babymed.com/fertility-o...00&tryingFor=either&cycleLength=28&redirect=1

It is only an estimate, and assumed that your LP is 14 days. So use that and your historical FF ovulation days to determine your most fertile days. Looking at your chart I think you actually O'd a little later than what it says, probably closer to CD 15-16.

I hope this helps!!!

Can't wait to hear how the decorating goes!

Congrats on moving into you new home twiggers!! How exciting :happydance:

I think you should decorate the bedroom first :winkwink: Also since you are on cd5 that should be the first room to be christened :bunny: :winkwink:

Ok, so listen.... determining these things is not down to a science 'unless' you have been assisted.... I knew my conception date because I did IUI.... you "spontaneously" got pregnant, so they are basing how many weeks you are on when your last period started and they assume every woman has a 28 day cycle to determine approximately when ovulation would have occurred .... that is the only way they can 'guesstimate' how many weeks you are....when they say you are 4 weeks pregnant, your little bundle of joy has only actually been in existence for 2. When you are 10 weeks pregnant your bundle of joy is really just 8 weeks old.....
AND even though you can guess when you ovulated, you can't know exactly when you conceived unless you only DTD one time during your fertile period.... and then, you can't know exactly how long the ball of cells traveled down your tubes, how long it hung out in your uterus to implant.... all these numbers you are looking up are 'averages'..... even when you read something that says it takes 5 days to travel down the fallopian tube is an average.... if you ovulated early or later than the time it took the sperm to get to where they were going will determine whether they found the egg at the uterus, the end of the tube, the middle of the tube, or near the ovary.....
you are going to drive yourself crazy if you get too worked up over thinking these are exact numbers.... every woman is different. The only thing that you need to worry about is how great your trip will be with you and DH hanging out on cloud 9!!

:hugs:

AFM - still pretty crampy and feeling crappy too. Between the cold weather, my head and my abdomen, its looking like I might just go back to bed!

I think perhaps I will go take some aleve and read for a bit until the cramps are gone, then its laundry and cooking time.

I bought the ingredients for the following:
GF chicken tenders (baked)
GF chicken stuffed with spinach and cheese (also baked)
Chili
Fire roasted vegetables and steak over rice
Broccoli salad

BTW.. the key to making baked chicken tenders that are also GF is using a combination of either corn flakes or rice crispies, some parmesan cheese and some spices. Soak the chicken in buttermilk, then dredge it in some rice flour, then egg, then the rice crispies mix, then on to the baking sheet.
The stuffed chicken breasts, you need to pound them out. Then soak them in the buttermilk. Then put your cream cheese, parmesan, mozzarella and spinach mixture in the middle. I know that sounds like a lot of cheese, but I mix this stuff sparingly (so it is 75% spinach and 25% cheese). Then roll it up and secure with toothpicks. Dredge the outside with rice flour, then egg then the rice crispie mix. During the last few minutes of cooking you can pour some spaghetti sauce over the chicken and top with a sprinkle of mozzarella, but I find that it makes them less crispy, so I just serve with some spaghetti sauce for dipping if I'm in the mood.

Once I'm done doing this I will freeze most of it, and then mix these things with the other food I have in the house and I'll have food for quite a while! Then its just a matter of pulling something out of the freezer, shoving it in the oven/microwave and adding sides. Makes eating healthy a whole lot easier when you work 10 hour days and don't have time to cook.

Thank-you Phil. Yes you are right, fertility friend shows me ouvalting cd14 but I think it was cd16 because I got positive opk's after the date they marked, which means I was only 13dpo when I got my bfp and beta. Everything you said makes sense because when we did our ivf cycles, they said our embryos were slow to divide and may be slow to implant also.

You are right, DH and I should just enjoy the beach and the heat. Thank-you for putting my mind at ease Phil.

Here is the pic I took this morning. Still a faint line but like you ladies have told me, a line is a line. It will be the last one I post till I return the 2nd March because we are leaving in the morning at 3am. Sending all you ladies

AFM:

Breastfeeding Babes has now hit the 'it's extremely easy' point..... the beginning is always a challenge, but then you hit a point where it gets significantly easier to breastfeed than it would to bottle feed.... at night I can just pop the breast in her mouth and snooze myself! when we are out, there is nothing to heat up, no water to sterilize, it's always ready and accessible! no extra gear to bring etc etc....
As for sleep.... well, that's still all over the map, but I try to get a nap in with her each day, and that makes the nights a little easier. She's had a few nights where she's gone for 4-5 hour stretches and when we have a night like that, I find it way easier to operate during the next day!
I am at the 5 week mark now, so I'm almost cleared for normal activities.... I find I can put the carseat in and out of the car ok, and pushing the stroller (or pram, or pushchair) is fine as well. I couldn't carry it any great distance though. I've started to do a little yoga, stretching and planks and squats along with trying to get a good walk in each day, but I have to be careful as I can feel my incision, my lower abdomen and hip flexors protesting when I do them.... so I am still rather gentle with what I do.... I 'feel' good, though, and as we get into a routine, it's getting easier to do chores around the house as well....

Babes has fallen asleep in her mechanical swing for the first time, so I'm going to take advantage and tidy up the living room and kitchen while she naps.... (usually she falls asleep in my arms and then won't stay asleep when I put her down!)

I'm so excited for you Chantal, and for my other BnB ladies.... here's some :dust: just for you!!

xoxo

The first pic I took was in the bathroom but the lighting was bad so just edited and replaced it with a better one I took in the bedroom. Yes I laid the pee stick on the bed in desperation of getting a better pic:haha:
