Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Coy - looked at your chart..wow that is some drop... think it's accurate? It is too early for AF, but you never know. I have to say your temp is till high for the drop... If it drops again..af may be on the way.

As for my chart... I was thinking I didn't go above 98...so is it really that go. I'm steady, but not high.

Hi ladies!:bunny:

Chantal- bet you are on the planr :plane: Have fun :winkwink:

Sam- chart's lookin' awesome

Ali- onward you go...glad u got your u/s...should thicken after AF :hugs:

Where's Jess? She's so bright, I miss her :hugs:

AFM- just got back from a walk w/dd's...it is sunny but still :cold: out. I have plans for something hot to drink and my school for a bit :coffee: WOW?!re:my chart...Huge temp drop this am..wth? If I get AF now my LP is only 5 days!!! WTF? Ugh...

YEP! My lining is 2.6mm but that is to be expected since I'm in the middle of AF. Clear ovaries, so I can start! I had my first shot of estrogen today. Next one is on Thursday. Looking like my biopsies are going to be March 7th and March 9th.

Hmm.. I've heard of implantation dips occurring around 5-7 DPO? Could that be it? I often had dips around that timeframe, but it went up the next day. So it could also be nothing.

Ali- you must be excited:winkwink: I feel the anticipation.

Coy- I agree with Ali

Hm..just remembered my pos. opk was 14th-15th so...that'd make my LP only...3 days! Something hinkey... lol

If I did this correctly, you Ladies should be seeing a photo of my wee babe on Valentine's Day!

hmmm, not sure what I'm doing wrong.... maybe can't post from flickr??

Hi ladies!
Typing one-handed left-handed so will catch up to ya'll later! :winkwink:

:hi:

Hello everyone! I hope all is well with everyone in the world of TTC Over 35.

Phil
...I love your profile pic!

Ali...how are you feeling? I hope you are not sick anymore.

Coy...how is everything? Babes? DDs? DH? School? (You got a lot going on too!)

AFM...It was a busy weekend for me with Valentine's Day on Thursday, furniture delivery on Friday, going away party on Saturday, Family time on Sunday, and cleaning house and doing laundry on Monday. I also went on a 7 mile run with my trainer yesterday. It only took an hour, but I sure am feeling it today! Normally I only run 3.5-4 miles. Whew! I'm still tired from it all!!
Well, it is almost ovulation time again. BF keeps asking me when I am going to ovulate. (His concern is so cute!) Needless to say, BD'ing is on our schedule for the next week!

Hi Jess! Good to hear from you :hugs: Wow, sounds like you have been super busy- 7 miles?! That's awesome. Right now I can't walk to other room! :haha: Not an issue of fitness of course, just kids and time  lol! New furniture sounds fun, I love to redecorate :laugh2:

Yay for ov time coming up, I am glad your BF has been keen to it and trying to keep up with your cycle- my dh keeps asking me the same thing but more for trying to prevent at this point...But then I wonder because when I tell him I have a positive opk he always gets, um, interested? shall I say? :haha: Anyway- whatever God gives us :winkwink:

Let's see...I am good, trying to keep up on my assignments, had a tech gliche last night prevented me getting one assignment finished but have it fixed today. Dh is good, Teagen and Kat still have crazy throat spots   today her tonsil are huge with a dark purple spot? Doc prescribed a super dose of amoxycillin but said he would hesitate to prescribe anymore- and I agree. Hopefully this kills it and we don't have to take her tonsils out 8-[

Hey all..

I spent 2 hours at the walk-in clinic last night. They did a rapid flu and rapid mono test, both came back negative. Thing is that I still feel like crap. She gave me a z-pack in hopes that perhaps it was a different kind of bacteria that was causing my symptoms. So between that, Mucinex-D and Excedrine migraine, I'm surviving. Barely. I slept almost 12 hours last night.

My symptoms are: headache, low grade fever (99.5 ish), nausea, swollen lymph nodes (in neck and under arms), aches all over, fatigue, sinus/ear pain.

Got any white spots?

Oh sweetie this sounds like what is going around here. I had to be on 2 Z packs back-to-back and it did the trick. I hope you get better fast.

Good to see Jess check in! How is everyone else?? Coy? Twotogo? Sansfan? Chantal? Angel? Phil? Sorry I have been MIA, between earlier days, acupuncture after work...and the fact that I wanted to not obsess over my 2nd opinion @ Cornell today, I just felt staying off BNB was the best way to give my head and emotions a break.

I miss you all! I want to hear how everyone is doing?

Afm, my 2nd opinion appt today was ok. They did an exam and on the u/s he could see 6 follicles on the right and 3-4 on the left, suggesting a slightly better result than the .47 AMH blood test suggested. He decided to redo the AMH test and I will get the result in 10days. I think today was a good day to see him as I am getting AF tonight or tomorrow. The news wasn't great though. He thinks we have a 10-15% chance with injectables and IUI and to not bother with Clomid as my chances would be like 5% since DH's morphology is 5%. He is also requesting another blood test and SA for DH to double check the previous RE's tests. He thinks we have a 30-40% chance with IVF and thinks it is the best option esp if DH's morphology comes back as being low again...IUI may not work with his low #s, and that ICSI with IVF would be the best way to choose the best swimmers. I don't know what to do.

What would you ladies do? IUI with injectables for $1000 and try that for 3 mos, or skip right to IVF? The other thing is that Cornell doesn't have any payment plans like the 3rd party option of buying a plan for 24k and it covers 3 INF cycles, 2 FTs and if nothing works you get 70% back, the other RE at North Shore Hospital on LI has that plan. Cornell is like 22k upfront and that is per trial. We have no fertility benefits on DH's insurance. Any thoughts on what you ladies would do? This is the same doctor that helped Celine Dion and our close family friend who is an obgyn trusts him implicitly. If the first cycle doesn't work we have to spend another 22, so 44k for 2 cycles. :dohh: Do I choose the cheaper group that has a good reputation, or the more expensive group that has a world wide reputation of being stellar.

In the meantime

Wow. Hm, big choices. I would say- look beyond cost. I mean if you are not having any cm or hostile cervix issues then would IUI be any diff than bd'ing? If dh's swimmers get confused then IUI would be a smart cheap option, but I would say try 1 month- if that doesn't work, go straight to IVF...they can sort dh's :spermy:, washem, shine'em up  then put to use. I think that would be the route I would take. If you can afford it- go stellar :hugs:

babywhisperer- sounds like we have the same problem. I also had a low amh with follicles evident on both sides. I have the same stats as you..slightly different. 5% with IUI and 45% with IVF. I'm going straight to IVF, only because I don't want to waste any more time and taking the drugs create the same side effects. I'm deathly afraid of the drugs. I can't speak to what group you should go with, that truly is your choice. I'm opting for a group near my home in Long Island with a good reputation.

babywhisperer- I agree with coy. Try for a month. I wanted to try for a month, but the clinic couldn't get there scheduling together. I started with them before thanksgiving and wanted to do IVF in January. Well I missed it and february, so I'm doing ivf in March also because I have scheduling issues in april and may.

I think I might try that. If 1 month doesn't do it, at least I tried...and this way I have some practice with injecting myself. The only difference with IUI/injectibles vs. bding is that they will stimulate multiple eggs, and the sperm will be somewhat selected right? They spin the sperm in IUI right?

As far as affordability...it will just be less funds for buying a house...our options will be more limited...which sucks b/c LI is a rip off!!!

I appreciate your advice immensely.

What group on LI are you using? Do they have better pricing or success rates? I wish I knew which was the way to go. How did you choose the group you are using? I hope the first try works for you!!!

Hey BabyWhisperer!

It sounds like Cornel is the better option. From what you've said they are better able to help you there. From your explanation, they don't seem to have as bleak of an outlook as the other FS did. Plus they are more likely to think outside the box to make you pregnant. I honestly think you get what you pay for!

You are right about the Injectibles/IUI it will be a dry run on the meds, and maybe you'll get lucky and it will work! Didn't you say your DH went off propecia? So his :spermy: might be in better shape now!

I know IVF is a scary option, and very expensive. I was just doing my taxes and I spent what Cornel costs thus far! My IVF's were slightly cheaper, but I had other costs, like :spermy: and surgery along the way.

ICSI was recommended to me as well since I was using donor sperm. They take the best looking :spermy: and inject it into the egg. It increases your fertilization rates. So I would definitely do that.

 missed you!

PS. Did you see Chantal got a BFP? She left for Barbados yesterday and won't be back until March 1st. She found out on Valentines day!
