Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Sams! You aren't out! Sperm :spermy: live in you up to 96 hrs. They sit and wait for the egg to be released. So you could very well be pregnant! With respect to doing your IVF cycle, there is always going to be something going on. Much like life, you simply have to add the cycle into it. Just like a baby, if you can't take time out to get pregnant, how do you plan to look after a baby  So I'd say just go for it!

AFM.. doing OK.. just trudging along. I'm hopeful that baby is growing and will be visible on US on Wednesday. I'm so very worried that we won't see any growth or development  I'm laying low today, just relaxing for now, but soon I have to get moving and get my errands done. Then girls night tonight and pool day tomorrow. Doggies need baths too, and maybe a visit to the dog park. So that's my plan for the weekend!

Hi all, I've still not got broadband! Figured out I messed up settings after a firmware update and my old employers contacted me yesterday as they finally realised they are still paying lol so I'm getting cut off. I can't use social sites in my new job and my mobile data allowance is really poor. I should hopefully be back up and running by next weekend, miss you all!

Ali and everyone else, stay positive. I know it's really difficult to, and I'm being a hypocrite saying it considering I'm wobbling everyday but please do try. All is so so here, I'm quite down this weekend but I'm hoping it's linked to tiredness, feeling sick today and just anxiety about my anomoly scan which is on the 26th June.

Can't wait to catch up properly xo

Thanks Angel! Hope all goes well with your anomaly scan! :hugs:

Angel- Sounds sorry they cut you off. It sounds like you are staying real positive and you should. You are coming along really well and have a lot to look forward to. Keeping my fingers crossed for June 26th

AFM... So ladies.. we have a decision to make... So the clinic emailed me. It seems like my next cycle falls at a time the lab is closed for quality control. So 1) I can either force this cycle and go to another clinic or go on drugs 2) not go on my trip to Europe and do it in August :plane:3) do it the end of September when I get back. My birthday is coming up the end of this month. I feel like so much time went by from my last cycle in March and I've lost a lot of time. I am not getting any younger and September is a long time away. I could either go to the other clinic or go on drugs to delay my period to June 28th when the clinic is back open. I'm leaving on my trip August 14th and will be back the first week in September. The pros to September is I can work on getting myself in shape and I'll come back from a very relaxing trip from Europe. I will be away for almost 3 weeks. I also have a wedding the end of October...(but that really isn't an influence in my decision) Advice? Opinions?

I also thought maybe in the interim try a iui session... but why after ive jumped into ivf.... All my drugs have been delivered for ivf.....:dohh:

I feel like im never going to get my :baby:

Morning Sams!

I think if I were you I would want to get moving ASAP at least with the stims and retrieval. I'd delay your period and start when the lab opens, then while you are waiting you can get back on acupuncture, and take supplements to get your eggs better. Then after retrieval I would freeze all embryos and wait until I got home from my trip and transfer them in Sept. That way you get your eggs ASAP but you won't be pregnant on your trip and you can enjoy it and return relaxed and ready for baby implantation in Sept!

Ali- I thought about that, but it lessens the chances of success from what I understand. So I don't think I want to take those chances with the cost. I know you got frosties...but I didn't (I don't think mine will make it to freeze) and it does decrease chances of success by a lot. I am on supplements...and the thought of acupuncture right now is driving me bonkers. Maybe I should cancel the trip?

Actually it's the opposite.. it increases your chances because your body doesn't have the high estrogen levels to contend with. If your FS uses the newer freeze method, there is a 90% defrost rate. You can freeze at day 3 as well. I'd talk to your coordinator about this option. I would also talk to them about chromosomal testing. It has been shown to improve the success rates for us older women immensely. I would not cancel my trip but would do exactly as I just said. It will give you the best chance to have a baby and enjoy your summer.

Babywhisperer[B/]- I agree with Ali, just request the labs ne sent over. I think society has far too long revered doctors as authorities in power, lol, I used to be that way and still catch myself once in a while. But in all reality they are paid to treat and if we want to pay twice that's up to us :winkwink: I did the same thing and sort of irritated my old family doctor.....but my dd had been suffering from stupid "treatments" for 6 months! I took her to another local doc and he snorted and said "this is what she has, it's simple, easy to handle". So once in a while it really pays to get a second opinion :hugs: And how dare you say "I am dreading shopping"? :saywhat: Are you serious? I sooooo envy the professional maternity wear! Maternity is gorgeous, strut it girl!

Dannie[B/]- fx'd for a successful round this month. Did your doc talk about hormone replacement, stimulation, etc?

Chantal[B/]- -- "Today a lady who works at the zoo in Cecil county was struck by lightning. She was saved by a coworker who performed cpr." :saywhat: What the...-! Wow, talk about having a bad day! Poor lady! would love to try the green tea ice cream :laugh2:
On a different note, you are in your 8th week! :happydance: How ya feeling? Ms sticks around til about 10-12 weeks so...you're halfway there

Sams[B/]- lol @ the good luck rub :winkwink: :dust: Hey it works, bet you get preggo this cycle

Ali[B/]- ooo shop online! So many great things for maternity wear....in your state I would suggest as many cool, floaty cover-up type tops as you can get, maybe throw a solid color tank under? Khaki capri pants maybe? Sundresses are freaking awesome, can't go wrong there!:flower:

Angel[B/]- hiya, where are you? Hope things are going perfect---we need bump pics! :hugs:

Phil[B/] good to see you post, I miss your daily updates.....are you considering baba#3 yet? ;)

We'll see if I make it through the week!! I need to do something about my belly, wearing normal pants hurts. I have some old navy coupons that are good starting on the 20th. So if all goes well on Wednesday then I'll get some maternity clothes. They also have some jean capris at target that look ok. So I'll look into those next weekend too.
I'm definitely thinking sundress and light clothes, it's bloody hot down here! I might have to get a maternity swim suit too  I can wear the one I have for a while, and maybe my 2 piece later? Guess we'll see how my belly shapes up!
:hugs: to all of you! Ali

Alicatt- I spoke with my FS today.. he says it does lower the success rate a bit and the best thing to do is to get it done all together. So what would be your second choice. You think my eggs will be significantly older in 3 months? I feel like I'm going to go into early menopause at any moment.

Well I disagree with him 100%. There are studies showing that freeze all cycles are much easier on the woman, and that their uterus is more receptive. There are a lot of FS out there that have not mastered the freeze thaw, and perhaps in your case he's worried that you won't get any to freeze. Those are both valid issues. If he's saying to do it all at once then you have to listen to him. Even if I disagree.
I doubt your eggs will disappear in 3 months, especially if you take supplements religiously to improve your fertility for 3 months. They would likely be better than they are now. I'd get your DH in on the supplements and get his :spermy: all fired up too.
So if doing it now and transferring in Sept is out, then I'd say wait, but use these 3 months and dedicate your self to exercise, eating healthy and getting your eggs popping! 3 months you could realistically be down 30 lbs. Possibly more! Go for it baby!

I didnt make any to freeze the last cycle. Perhaps he is looking at my prior history. Although ive been prepping, i think I may have to wait nother three months, unless i switch to another FS who doesnt close their lab? But ur right with dedication, i could be down 30

Snooklepoodle: hahaha good luck this month!!! Baby dust!!!!!

So, yesterday I had my bloods drawn to check for all the blood clotting disorders and also to see if I have been rh sensitized. (I am rh negative) Just waiting for those results...hate this! But, baby making week starts in a couple days!!! yay!!

Rh negative here too! Another thing to worry about but so far, so good.

I'll have my 1st exam and u/s on July 1st so it'll be awhile before I have any scans to share. I hope everyone's doing well! Morning sickness is just ridiculous. Between that and my weight/puffiness I'm wondering how on earth we'll keep it a secret from MIL (she'll be here Wednesday until the 30th. errrghh.) Mission Impossible seriously.

Sams! You can do it! Has your FS made any adjustment to your regime? Anything to make it better? He should be able to make this next cycle more effective. Different protocol? Different meds? If I were you I'd get your plan nailed down with your FS. Then work your rear off in the gym and eat really healthy and be ready to kick some IVF butt in the fall!

AFM.. lots of pulling and lower back pain the past few days. Wish I had another day off to relax. Vladimir is coming for a visit on Tuesday, then scary US on Wednesday :argh: Then I crawl through the rest of the week until Friday

Alicatt. No changes to my protocol. He said that the protocol worked. It was my egg quality. He really is one of the best docs. I also had a second opinion and they said they wouldnt change it. Im orried my eggs will be worse because of my age. When im this weigh im so tired. Its so hard to get to the gym, because it is so hard to move. I need to start restricting calorie intake. Anyone see the movie fat, dic,k, and nearly dead with joe cross?

So the dog was hearing noise all night. He was barking likr a maniac, hence im tired today

Where is everyone!

Chantal--- How are you feeling?!!!

Matin- Sorry your having morning sickness!

Coy- Where are you

I finished Day 1 of my Cleanse/Reboot .... I thought I wouldn't make it and I'm looking at Day 2!

First  I'm happy but so ill! UGH!

So sorry hun. It gets better soon. My nausea stopped week 12 but now I have terrible migraines. I have my 1st appt with the new Dr closer to where we live. I met a woman at the nail salon Sunday that uses the same practice and lives them so I'm leaning towards them. It's funny the Dr did his undergrad at Colgate like my dh so he thinks he should be our Dr. I like the fact that to come home after delivery will take 5min and the private rooms are free and huge. In the city they are almost $1000/night which is absurd, and you're not guaranteed to get one.

Sams do what you feel is right in your gut. But know that any trip to Europe will result in some weight gain as you will be eating out. You can stay healthy and fit by walking everywhere though. My friend did 3 weeks in Paris and are and drank like she was going to the chair, but she walked for 3 hrs a day and only put on 5lbs. And let's face it, the trip will be more than worth it!!! Please go back to acupuncture. I cannot extol the benefits of it enough. The fact that my AMH doubled in 3 mos with acupuncture is testimony enough. It will happen for you just stay the course and have faith.

How is everyone else?? Anyone had frequent migraines/headaches while prego? Anything help besides water and Tylenol?

Vomiting is not fun! :nope: First time too. I have a crazy busy day  I hope I don't get sick today.

BabyW.. I researched migraines before I got pregnant and there really isn't anything 100% safe out there that you can take. There are options should your migraines get to the point that its better for you and baby to take something than worry about the risks. Plenty of women take fioricet while pregnant. So if things get really bad, just ask your OB to recommend something. I also think it depends on which trimester you are in as to what you can take. Before taking anything make sure there isn't an underlying cause for the headache, high blood pressure, blood clot etc. They are rare, but still something to get ruled out!
