Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

That is awesome Jess! I wish I had the dedication to be that fit!!

Ali...it is only because I come from a family of very unhealthy...obese...individuals. And I see what it has done to their quality of life. I want more for me and my family. Just hoping I can be a good role model!! :)[/QUOTE]

Jess, that was the key to my fitness as well. My mom was the classic "good ol' home cookin'" kind of cook :haha: You know the story...I grew up on potatoes fried in butter, topped with butter, heavily salted and rounded out with a pork roast and buckets of gravy! OMG even now when I think about it :nope: Man it tastes good though! :haha: But nope- I cooke with olive oil and we only eat very lean foods. Except, of course, ice cream :haha: As dh is diabetic we have to eat healthy and I think it's awesome as the girls will choose fruit over candy any day (well, most days  lol). I haven't really talked or seen my folks in over a decade now but I see the pics they send out and it's sad how unhealthy they are..Dad is okay but refuses to ever check cholesterol or glucose and mom...Mom has gained about 200 pounds in the last 7 years :( She is probably over 300 now and says its thyroid but  She smoked heavily too for about 40 years. So I worry about them. Oh she used to make fun of me for working out and eating healthy! She'd tell me "you're an ugly girl and will never be thin!" :haha: Got to me back then but I am tougher now! She even told my dh upon their first meeting "Why did you marry this daughter? You should have met my other daughter first...this is the ugly daughter..In fact, Coy is the ugliest of all my chidlren" So she's mean. Lol.

Anyway! Kudos to all you ladies for being healthy! Ali- it is really an achievment to lose 20 pounds, it's tougher than hell to do so my hat's off to you! I am proud of your achievement but yes- don't worry about it too much right now just eat healthy, etc. Re: you BF...I can SORT of understand his view but if he doesn't want to step up and, um, donate  then he should understand your choice :hugs:

Jess, Coy, and FirstTry...

I wish I had your issues! I'm the opposite. I am a little on the chunky side ;) That is putting it nicely. I have been working on my weight and have lost 20 lbs in the past 3 months. I really need to lose another 60. Thing is that I've been trying to lose this weight for 3 years and putting off having a baby to do so. Now its just not feasible. I need to have the baby first then worry about the weight.
I have heard that women that have a body fat percentage less than 20%, can have trouble with their cycles. However if your cycles are regular, then it sounds like all is well? I don't think I would worry about it unless your FS mentions it.

Losing 20 lbs in 3 months is amazing, Ali! I've read that losing even a few lbs when you're overweight can greatly increase your fertility.

With regard to the boyfriend, it's good that he's supportive, even if he's not ready to be a dad. I actually met my husband while I was going through the process of freezing my eggs to preserve my fertility. He was surprised at first, but then realized that it took pressure off of him. So, you never know what might happen.

Oh yeah, my U/S/ scan! :haha: Hi ladies! Well, it is official- got a little Valkyrie swimming aorund in there! It's a girl, this time it was very obvious and she held still (just barely) long enough for a good pic :) My youngest Katana immediately became ecstatic and decided she wants to name her little sister Katana Kyrra so that they can be "exactly alike" lol :hugs: Funny little girl! Dh is happy- I know he wanted a little boy but wither way we are happy. Maybe we can try again next time  Not sure if my "old" body (lol) will be up to it and I can't even consider it at this point...I told dh it would probably be girl #4 :haha: It is a strange feeling...here we have been hoping for boy but once we know definitively that it is a girl we are both very happy. Our girls are smart and active and beautiful- can't ask for more! I gotta say I was looking forward to all the little boy outfits, etc, but maybe next time :) This time I am happy to say that I get to plan for another kick-butt girl :haha: Here are the U/S pics we got:

GreyEyes, I don't think you are ugly at all. Nope, not even a little bit. Just my 2 Cents worth....

Hello to all the lovely ladies! How is everyone today?

Ali, it looks like things are going in the right direction! I was reading your post about worrying if the left eggys will ovulate when the right looks bigger.... I am thinking that if your doc is going to give you the shot then maybe everything that's ready will pop?? AND I think your left eggys will catch up in size before you know it...
Clomid works by tricking the brain into thinking it needs to order more estrogen. Estrogen marinates the immature eggs and ripens them to get them ready for ovulation. SO with the Clomid, the idea is that your body will ripen more eggys and ripen them faster than without the help of the Clomid. The increase in number of twin pregnancies is directly related to this process and I would think that it is very possible that in those cases eggys from both sides might have been released.... which means..... "I" think your chances of being able to go ahead this month are still really, really good!

AFM- I've been really busy the last while sewing up a dress for a medieval event I'm going to on June 15th - 17th.... I've had to modify my pattern design to accommodate a growing baby bump! My favourite time period to portray is Italian Renaissance around 1490ish.... like the tv show The Borgias.... the dress I'm working on is a simple linen one, but the style is generally the same as the show. There's about 8 or 9 yards of fabric in the skirt alone! A few more days worth of sewing and I should be finished!
This morning I went to my last appt with my GP. I was overdue for a yearly physical so I was there for that... yay pap smears.... *sigh* So my family doc is the total best... she says "Well, how about we check for the baby's heartbeat after so it's like a treat after the yuck? It's early yet, so we might not hear it, but if you'd like to, we can give it a try..."
I was totally game for trying.... and after a minute or two or three of trying, she heard it, but I couldn't..... so she kept moving the doppler thingy and put the monitor close to my ear.... and then she found it again and it came through clear as day! beautiful, fast, strong heartbeat! the most beautiful sound in the world!

YAY for heartbeat! I am so happy for you Phil!!:hugs: Ecstatic even-- that is very aweosme news! Wow, such a huge event :happydance: Sweet :)

Cool about the medievil (sp- I am tired, lol) event and dress too, sounds like loads of fun! Pics of the dress??? And pics of bump???

Oh, Marathongirl- I just checked out your chart! Looks awesome thus far ! 8 dpo and a steady nice rise in temp :happydance: Hard for me not to get excited! Are you going to test hpt in a day or so? Like..soon? :haha:

Hi everybody, I hope you're all well? :hi:

Ali - sounds like things are progressing well chick , fingers crossed and all that.

Grey Eyes - what gorgeous scans, good luck on the trying not to name the new baby Katana lol (love that name btw). Have you any thoughts yet on names?

Phil - fab news honey about the heartbeat, sending loads of sticky :dust: your way. Hopefully the next few weeks will fly in for you :flower: The medevil thing sounds way cool, get some pics up please.

I had a couple of days away in Ireland which was nice, but wet lol. I have an appointment with my gyane consultant this afternoon which I'm feeling pensive about. It should be to start more investigations into my RMCs but I'm nervous it won't go well for some reason. Plus my body is doing something weird again which I'm just putting down to stress and it still settling after my last MC in April. I'm really emotional, a bit crampy and have had some very light pink spotting. I'm thinking ovulation (I'm taking a break from charting for this month), surely it's too early for anything else? I reckon I'm about CD18-20ish, but I normally ovulate about CD13-17 so this would make sense. However, this happened before in the cycle straight after a MC at the start of the year, which resulted in my second pregnancy this year (lost that one at 8 weeks). Only time will tell I suppose, it would be a miracle if a BFP did happen as we have been kinda careful to give my body a break:blush:.

Coy! Your mama didn't know what she was talking about! You are BEAUTIFUL!! :winkwink: ...and I am sure I speak for everyone in this thread...
Oh, and i love the pics of your baby girl! I'm glad she sat still long enough to see her parts!

Ali...what's going on with you this morning? I hope you are feeling well and smiling!

Phil...I hope you have a blast at the medieval event next week. I think it is awesone that you are making your own dress. I wish I could do that. I tried once...and it was a nightmare. I'm so glad you got to hear your baby's heartbeat. I look forward to the day I get to report hearing my baby's heartbeat. So, will you be finding out the baby's gender when possible or are you going to let it surprise you?

Angel...I have lovely images of Ireland in my mind from post cards a friend of mine sent me (and from the movie Laws of Attraction that was partially filmed there. All beautiful images. But one day I hope to see it for myself. Ireland and Italy are my dream vacation spots.
I know you are feeling anxious, but let your body work and don't stress. (Easier said than done, right?) We all seem so good about being anxious, stressing, wondering, impatient, and all the other stuff that seems a natural part of TTC. But I pray for the best for you. :hugs:

AFM...I am sleepy this morning! Didn't go to bed early enough last night and 4:30am came fast. I did an hour of spin at the gym this morning and wanted nothing more than to go back to bed when I got home...especially after seeing BF sleeping so good! But here I am, at work...sleepy...STILL!

Good morning all!

I'm in a good mood today. I can feel my ovaries, they are all plump and full. I am also having some lower back pain, which usually accompanies the thickening of my lining. So that is also good! We need follicle stimulation and lining thickening to happen. I go in tomorrow morning at 11 for my next ultrasound. Then is all looks good we will do the IUI sometime between Friday and Monday. I'm electing to have 2 IUIs apparently this ups your chances quite a bit.

Jess/Coy - how are you doing?

Everyone else? I hope you are all doing very well today!!

Thanks Grey Eyes, and sorry I have not been online since posting that.

One thing about me is my CM doesn't seem to vary too much, so I'm relying more on temping and the OPKs. I (we, DH too) have a gut feeling that we've been missing the timing by a day or so, but we want to keep things 'fresh' by BD on the right days.

Meanwhile, I see good news from Ali and Phil, and Jess is already well along, good luck to you girls.

My temps plunged today and we're on BD day 2 (yesterday was a day off) so soon as I'm done posting will be getting busy with DH..... :sex:

Hello ladies, hope everyone had a great weekend. I have quite a few posts to catch up on, I hope it's all good news.

I'm writing in a hurry because I have a question that defies logic - my Chinese TCM doctor said that even though the OPK doesn't show two lines that today (my day 11) that we should start BD today.

DH thinks we should wait until tomorrow so we have the most potent man-stuff on the best day. I've tried a number of online calculators but the results vary of course.

One thing though, my temps went down today (hope you can see my FF chart below) from 36.50°C = 97.7°F yesterday to 36.05°C = 96.9°F today. So we did the BD anyway even though DH is not feeling well today.

My CM is not so sticky or thick.

So what do you think about this idea of doing it before the lines show on the OPK?

Great thing about bd'ing is the :spermy: can hang out for at least 4-6 days depending upon your environment. So if cm is good- a day before the "best day" is all subject to criticism...I think as long as you bd at least 2-3 times the week of ovulation you are good to go!

One thing about me is my CM doesn't seem to vary too much, so I'm relying more on temping and the OPKs.

So your CM doesn't change when you are close to ovulating? This could be an issue, I am by no means an expert, but CM is vitally important to sperm, and their ability to swim beyond the cervix. Have you thought about trying Mucinex? I hear that some women find it helps to improve their CM. Perhaps Grey Eyes can help? I think she has more experience with it.

Best of luck!!! :dust:

Good morning ladies!! How is everyone?

Ali...what are you up to?

AFM> well, I am at work (Booo!) But still feeling hopeful about this month. I am going to try the Mucinex and Primrose oil to help with my CM. I am not sure if that is an issue, but I don't think it will hurt either. Any opinions on that?

Hey Jess! Morning!

I'm at work too, :growlmad: BLAH. It is cloudy and grey here, which always makes me sleepy. I'm really bloated this morning, and I'm feel like my ovaries are huge. I guess this is to be expected when you are taking clomid.

I just want to understand whether my follicles are as they should be or not. I am worried that the ones on the left will not develop any further and we won't be able to move forward this month :(

TiaTammy - are you doing better today? I hope so too! :hugs:

Coy - good morning to you! Hope all is well in your world, and I can't wait to hear how the ultrasound goes!!

Jess - I don't think that using mucinex and primrose oil will hurt, and who knows, maybe it will give you the boost you need :)

Hi ali am not any better still bleeding, I have no idea what is going on I am going nuits, HUGS HUGS FRIENDS

TiaTammy - so sorry! It is no fun to go nuts  but we all seem to get that way during this crazy time. What day are you on? I seem to recall it was a little early for it to be :witch:, is it light or heavy bleeding? It is bright red or more brownish? How many days past ovulation are you? Have you taken any temps? Having this information we can help figure out if it is possible that it is IB (implantation bleeding) or if it is just AF coming early.

grey eyes the pic. lookk great so happy for you another little girl thats wonderful wishing a very healthy and happy pregnancy sweetie. HUGS HUGS FRIENDS. still bleeding on cd 25 first 2 days was spotting now the past 4 days is a heavy bleed, was origially due for AF tomm. so I dont know I am going nuts with this, and quite sad, because if this isnt pregnancy which in a way I dont think it is with the flow being the way it is, then I dont know what is going on:shrug::cry::cry: HUGS HUGS FRIENDS

well ali I got my cycle on may 13th and it was a normal cycle, did not get any poss OPKs that month or I may have missed it I dont know:shrug:, I get my cycle every 26 to 28 days well come june 1st I started spotting, keep inh mind wasnt due for AF til june 8th, the first 2 days were brown spotting, so the ladies said it was at the right time for implantation bleed well the last 4 days has been a little more heavier and it is red, have tested once already and it was neg that was about 3 days ago, I was origally due for AF tomm. so I am so upset If this isnt pregnancy then something is really messing up with me, this has NEVER happened before, have been temping BUT doc. says MY temps are not good, and they are taken the same time every morning. I dont know I am sooo down right now, I have all kinds of emotions going on. HUGS HUGS FRIENDS

Aww.. Tia,

I totally understand, it really isn't any fun going through what you are going through. I wish I could give you a real hug!!!

Sometimes cycles are just messed up. Mine have never been early, but I have had delayed periods and that is just as frustrating!! So it could just be a wonky cycle and once you finish bleeding things will reset and get back to normal?

If you are really concerned I would suggest going to see your OBGYN and they can do some tests to find out what might be causing the early bleed. That might help with some of your feelings too, especially if they can lay your fears to rest!

:hugs:
