Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Ali- you awesome woman!! You sent your rain my way :rain: lol! Yay! I hope it stays- we got heavy wind, clouds, and rain for a bit. It smells ammmmmaaazing :cloud9:

LOL! I'm glad you got some rain! We had some this morning it was so nice!

I'm about to stick myself with the Gonal F needle! I hope I can do it!

You can do it!! You are tough, you are determined--what can I say? You're a woman! :bodyb: lol! Did you stick yourself yet? Where do you inject? My dh has to take insulin shots several times a day and he can inject in stomache () ot thigh, etc....Hope it went ok!

Btw, since you sent rain my way can I make it perfect and have a fresh, warm, choclatey cake too?? I am trying real hard to be good on my diet :haha: I had chicken and splurged with rice tonight and cooked onions. But choc cake :cake: is def my thing right now:coffee:. Bet you could use a piece!

Yep, I stuck myself! My mom was all agast with the process. I showed her the pens that are full of Gonal F, and the needles, and she watched in fascination until I stabbed myself in the belly with the needle, and then she made some funny sound and ran away! :haha: She's squeamish I guess! It doesn't hurt, and I'm glad I don't have a fear of needles! Today was easier then yesterday when I did it at the clinic. Yesterday I felt kind of queasy and light headed about 30 minutes after the shot. Today I didn't have that, but I do have a bit of a headache again :(

CHOCOLATE CAKE! MMMMMMMM... that sounds heavenly. We had a salad with dill, cucumber, avocado, goat cheese with a cucumber dressing and chilled salmon on top for dinner. It was really yummy! The salmon we made last night for dinner, and so we had the leftovers this evening as a salad. YUMMY (but not as yummy as a piece of moist chocolate cake)!!!

So now I'm listening to hear if the bear decides to come back tonight. Last night he managed to open the bear bin (its supposed to be designed to keep bears out) and he ate all our garbage. Well today we went to the hardware store in town and got some chain and chained the lid so unless he has opposable thumbs, I don't think he'll be able to open the bear bin. I am curious to see if he will try. He usually shows up around 11:45 to 12am and it is 11:20 right now, so I'm sure I'll hear him soon.

I'm glad you ate some rice and chicken, both good staple foods. When I was working out really hard I would make rice, some lean meat and veggies, usually broccoli and mushrooms (because I like these veggies), but also beans or peppers or whatever you like. I would have 1/3 cup uncooked per meal, then about 1 cup of veggies and about 4-5 oz of chicken, pork, beef etc. I usually stir fried the veggies with garlic and cooking spray, then I would mix it all with an Asian shiitake dressing that I found at the grocery store (all natural and made with olive oil). MMMMMM.. that was good stuff!

I'm getting impatient, I want to know if I'm making lots of nice follicles! UGH, but I won't really know for sure until Tuesday next week. I do go back on Friday for blood work, to see what my hormones are doing I guess. Then they will adjust my Gonal F if necessary. I may opt for an ultrasound on Friday too. HMM.. if I do want one, it will cost me $94 to do so. Guess I'll just have to decide whether my curiosity is with $94!!!:haha:

Morning Ali and coy, well it is 5am here and still awake after a massive :sex: session lol, first chance to bd since the :witch: left and was like when we first got together (cushions on floor in room, lol) if that doesn't fertilise that Egg nothing will pmsl.

I love to watch the rain when bouncing of the ground and the smell don't like been out in it though lol.

Have a ? Now I normally temp at 7.30 but obviously I'm not going to get 3 hours solid sleep, more than likely sleep over what do I do about my temp as don't want to miss as sure ov is just around corner

Ali- dumb ol' bear! :haha: In Alaska we had lots of them too, and they can usre be persistant creatures of habit. Smart getting the chain! And yes, they do have opposable thumbs (I am convinced) Lol! Aw, chocolate cake...I don't have any :nope:

Alin- sounds like you got excellent bd timing if ov is just around the corner! Try to rest then take your temp whenever you wake...I was never a HUGE stickler on when I took it just so long as I had rested a couple hours at least.

Yep.. darn bears! I think they are worse now because it has been so dry, and the food they normally eat is dead or dying. So they are out foraging for whatever they can find. Poor bears. If I knew what they should eat, I'd put it out for them! LOL. Well far far away from my house!

Alin.. I just test whenever I wake up, hopefully after at least 3 hours. I wouldn't worry too much about the timing, I mean if you test at different times of the day all the time, then I could see that being an issue, but if a few are off by an hour or 3, it shouldn't matter too much! Do you have any ovulation tests? That way you don't miss that fertile window! :dust:

What time is it in Canada Ali? 2240 here MST... You are up later than normal :haha: I should go to bed but am fighting my sweet tooth. Oh and bears eat everything-- vegetables, meats (fresh or rotten ), ATV seats, gas cans, LOL! :growlmad: darn bears...:haha:

HEHE.. well apparently they know the difference between a bag of recycle and a bag of garbage! When my Mom went down this morning to clean up the mess, the bear picked up the recycle bag and placed it neatly beside the bear bin! Then took off with the garbage bag into the woods. He is a smart bear!

Yes, I'm not normally up this late, but hey, I'm on vacation!!! It is almost 1am here, so 2 hours ahead of you.

I have been reading about the success rates of IUI for women and how if they haven't been successful after 3 months of trying this way, they should move on to IVF. Especially once they turn 40. Well my 40th is in October! I have seen percentages as low as 6% per cycle and as high as 30% per cycle using Gonal F and IUI, so I really don't know what to think. I just want a baby :baby: darnit!!!

I'm off to bed.. you should go too!

Thanks, with the cost of the IUI running around $3000 a month due to the donor sperm, if this one doesn't work I'm wondering if I should just do one IVF round next month and see if that works? From what I have been reading, it might be a better use of $9000 instead of 3 more IUIs. HMMM.. Hopefully this month sticks, and even better if its TWINS!!! :baby::baby:

ty ladies yes i have opks and took my temp it was 36.29 turned over went back to sleep and woke at 9am and was still 36.29 so will go with that

ali that is one smart ass bear lol

11dpo today and temps are quite low again, only just above the cover line. Still no symptoms, so I know its not my month this time. I have a feeling that the next cycle is going to be a long one again as they seem to be alternate long and shorter, long and shorter. Of course, come Saturday, I will still test, but I'm not getting excited!

How are you doing Jess, any symptoms yet?

I think a few of you will be gearing up ready for the big 'O', so I guess its time to start putting the little :spermy::spermy: into their storage areas.

Ali, I have a good feeling about your double squirt this cycle. Hope the injections work for you, you deserve it, with having to inject yourself, I don't know if I could have the stomach to do that. I'm a bit of a wimp, not good with pain at all.

tracey love the double squit comment lol,i think i have just got positive opk and we bd for 1st time last night

Good morning everyone...

Tracey-Terri (He-hee!) ...I still have no symptoms...my temp when up again today...but since this is my first month charting my temps I don't know if that is normal or not. We shall see! I think I might test tomorrow with my FRER...

Alin...Bd'ing after a positive OPK...FABULOUS!!! :happydance:

Hello Ladies,
Sorry I've been MIA the last while. I have been reading and keeping up with you all, but so much chaos has been happening at this end I didn't even know where to start. I recently found out that my husband has a serious problem, and, honestly, if I weren't already pregnant, I would probably leave him. I'm feeling so hurt and betrayed and I'm so angry with him for breaking his promises to me... I don't get to enjoy this pregnancy anymore and I'm so furious at him for that. He promised I could just enjoy this pregnancy, especially since it's going to be my last one (most likely) and he promised I never had to worry about things like bills or finances. And then..... well, then I discovered he has a problem with gambling. He has so much credit extended to him in so many different ways (lines of credit, loans, credit cards) that between mortgage payments and minimum payments for all his debt we have a monthly deficit of over $3, 300. He kept it from me for over a year and things were coming to a head... he was telling me he was staying late at work when he was at the casino. He was distant and emotionally unavailable and I could tell he was lying about something.... I never thought he would turn out to be an addict. It's like he was cheating on me, but worse, because he put my dream house in jeopardy. The only thing saving it from the creditors is that I am also on title.
The tension in the house has been so horrible. On the weekend, I told him that he had to choose his addiction or his family and that if he chose us, then he was to surrender his wallet so I could cut up all his credit cards and take his bank cards. He was to have nothing to do with our family finances anymore- he was to surrender it all over to me. I wasn't sure he was going to do it, I could see it wasn't an easy choice for him. He went for a walk and thought about it and when he came home I insisted he call his father. As soon as his father heard he was gambling, I had support for my demands and my husband turned over all the finances to me. The last thing I wanted was to deal with the bills, finances and to sort through this mess... he has over 15 items of debt, all in the multiple thousands.... thankfully, he is willing to get help and work through this. At least he's being honest with me now. He's already gone to see an addictions counsellor and we are meeting with a financial counsellor this afternoon. I think, really, he wanted it all to come out and I am extremely thankful that it came out now and not a year from now when I would also be dealing with a newborn baby and probably post partum depression.
I went to the bank yesterday and got some advice from my very best friend.... how lucky am I that she works in a bank and helps people like us everyday? So I have a plan on how to get us out of this mess, and I'm interested in what the financial counsellor will say this afternoon. It's a given that whatever the solution is, we will be paying off his debts for years and that his credit rating will go into the toilet. My only consolation is that because he makes so much money,(the tax on his bonus this year was equivalent to what I made in my best years working!!!), I will be able to dig us out sooner rather than later... so in 5 - 10 years instead of 20-40.....
So I've been crying a lot and working just to understand which bills come out of which accounts... part of the addiction was hiding the extent of the problem from himself, so there are so many moving parts to organize and today is the 1st of the month... how do I pay $5,800 in mortgages and debt payments with a $3,400 pay check? I've decided to make sure this house is taken care of, and food and petrol for us... I still need to feed my 15 year old and make sure there is food for me and babes.... I don't think any debt agency would deny us that. Then the rest, well, we'll see....
So, ladies, that is what I've been dealing with the last while....
I've been keeping up on all of you... it's been a great escape! Good luck to all the TWW ladies, and those about to be in the TWW.... baby dust to all of you... you are all precious to me and I appreciate sharing your journeys.....
phil.

On a completely different note.... I've decided on names for the baby... what do you think?

Girl: Alethea Sage Beatrix

Boy: Simon Henry Carson

If babes cooperates, then we will find out on August 10th if I'm having a boy or a girl! That's something to look forward to!!

phil.

Please I have been married for almost 6 years with no issue. I am over 35 years and Trying almost every month. I have been put on clomid by my dr. two months ago, and no pregnancy. Please any suggestion to make me get even one child. I am getting frustrated now. Please help.

Phil...I am so sorry you are having to deal with drama during your pregnancy. It is so funny how speed bumps of life seem to come up at the most inopportune times. But I guess that's why they call them speed bumps. If they came up at more convenient times, then they probably wouldn't be problems...just situations that need to be handled. But it seems like you have a plan.
Now, your names are great!! I love the name Sage especially. I am excited about August 10th!! Boy or girl? Hmmmm...we shall see!

Tried...My name is Jess and there are a lot of wonderful ladies here that are incredibly supportive and knowledgable...it sounds like you are fairly frustrated with your lack of success in TTC. Other than clomid, what have you done so far? Has your DH been tested as well?

Phil! I was just thinking of you last night, wondering how you were doing. I was hoping that things were going well, but it sounds like you've had a mountain of SH*T to deal with. Sorry for the cussing, but I can't think of a better word for it. So sorry that you have had to deal with that, and wow, that will be a mountain of debt to pay off. I am glad to hear that your DH is going to get help, and has turned the finances over to you. Hopefully you can get some good advice on how to pay it all back. Maybe some of the debtors will lower the interest rates on the loans to help you get them paid off sooner? :hugs:

Love the baby names!! All so original :)

Tried - sounds like you need to go see a fertility specialist or a reproductive endocrinologist. They will do blood tests, and other tests to determine why you aren't able to get pregnant. They will also test your husband's sperm to make sure that they are healthy. Then once all the testing is done, you'll have an idea of what might be stopping you from getting pregnant, and they can offer you a plan to get pregnant. GL!!
