Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Good morning, ladies. It's egg retrieval day! My appointment isn't until this afternoon and the wait feels so long. Will I have many good eggies?

3 days until AF is due. No spotting just the same creamy discharge Ive had since ovulation. But I cant help looking at my chart and thinking this is the beginning of the end of this cycle. like the song says....waiting is the hardest part...

Have faith...faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen... ;) :hugs:

I hope so!!! If you have a low pain threshold, you may want to ask your Dr for some stronger pain meds than just tylenol. I was happy to have a few vicodin on hand for the 1-2 days after the retrieval. I think for me part of the issue was that I had OHSS. Oh and they told me that they had to manipulate my left ovary so they could get some of the follicles, so I had a lot of pain from that. It wasn't unbearable, but it was nice to be able to take the vicodin and get some rest.

Here is hoping for lots of mature eggs, and a good fertilization rate!!! :yipee: :dust:

I'm at the FS office now.. waiting to have the trial transfer and the green light ultrasound.. there are a lot of people here.. hope it isn't too much longer!
I think they did an egg retrieval, there is a lot of commotion around the office.

I don't understand "trial transfer."

Back! So my ovaries look good, and the trial transfer went well. The trial transfer is when they insert a catheter into your uterus just like they would on embyro transfer day. They do this to make sure there are no surprises on transfer day. The only wrinkle in an otherwise great appointment is that my lining was really thin, only 4.8mm. Dr was concerned about that and had them run an estrogen blood test. So who knows, maybe it is too thin? They told me to start the Lupron on Friday, so that is what I'm going to do. So I was given the green light.. :yipee: :wohoo:

Ali- so excited things went fabulous! Re:lining. What can they do to thicken the lining between now and ET time?

FirstTry- GL on your egg retireval today  Keep usposted! :hugs:

Jess- how are you? Just wanted to say "thanks". You always have such encouraging things to say and you always remind me who's in charge (God, of course :) )---gives me some added strength iykwim!

I don't know why he was so concerned. The BCP is known for thinning the lining, that is one of the ways it stops you from getting pregnant. If it is too thin the embryo won't implant.

I know in the past when they did my Day 3 check, my lining was about 3-4mm, and it always got nice and thick, so who knows.
I guess I'll wait and get the results from the estrogen and see if there is anything to worry about.

When do you stop the BCP? Oh, and I have been thinking on donors--have you decided anything? There are a lot of them that look really awesome when it comes to their careers, schooling, physical coloring, etc. As far as age being a factor I don't think it is anything to be awfully concerned about? I am just going from personal experience :haha: My dh is 53 and has (apparently) awesome swimmers :haha: I joke with him because he had to store some :spermy: years ago before they started cancer treatments as they said their was a possibility of sterilization...so somewhere out there...lol! But that was ,like, 20 years ago so don't think they'd last that long  Anyway, it didn't take long this go round to get prego, really only :sex: once or twice so I think age is not always a factor.

November 13th! YAYAYAY! :wohoo: not long now. They said they weren't sure if I would get a period. Some women do, others do not, I could continue to spot, they just said to just go with whatever my body does. The key is to follow the drug regimin.

Nov 9th.. start Lupron, take it daily until Nov 25th
Nov 9th through Nov 13.. take the BCP
Nov 14th.. NO BCP.. :yipee:
Nov 26th.. start Menopur and Bravelle.. :wohoo:

I have another ultrasound on Nov 26th, and another on Nov 30th. Then I'll probably start going daily around Dec 2-3 until they are ready to do the egg retrieval around Dec 8-11th.

Yay! Not long now Ali- time is really flying by! I can't wait! Have you decided on a donor yet? You want I should pic one for you? :haha: lol!

OHHHH.. forgot about that question! No I have not decided yet. I have been toying with using a different website. The one I used when I got my first donor. It makes me nervous that Fairfax doesn't give you the age of the donor. I realize that men's age isn't as big of a factor in determining if the sperm is viable, but I was hoping to pick some young strapping buck :haha:

So, I got 9 eggs. Tomorrow, they'll tell us how many are mature and how many fertilized. Nine is okay, but considering that this wasn't a true IVF cycle, it's pretty good.

Now, let's hope some fertilize and grow into beautiful embryos!

Thanks for your support everyone.

That is a great number for not meaning to do an IVF cycle. I only got 15 eggs, 12 mature and 7 fertilized last cycle. It was not optimal unfortunately.

How do you feel?

Thanks, Ali!

I had pain, so they had me take Vicodin immediately. I think they mauled my left ovary because it hides like yours does. My nausea seems to have passed now that I ate some soup.

I hope they're all doing great in the lab now. Mommy loves you!

Yep, it isn't much fun, but not unbearable. I liked having the vicodin so I could get some sleep that night. Glad the nausea is gone too. Yes! Let's hope they are all happy and getting fertilized

Coy?

You usually post and AFM, but today there was nothing :sadangel: how are you doing? How's your little angel? Still eating and pooping :haha:

I had a long and annoying day, or I would have posted sooner. I only just got home. I'm exhausted. I need to get my stress level to come down and get more  I think tomorrow and from now until the new year I'm just going to say the 'f' with it, and leave at my normal time, no more working extra to get stuff done. If it doesn't get done, then too bad. Not my problem! :growlmad:

Ali- lol, I usually do post an AFM :) but for the last couple days seems like I have trouble focusing on me...I think because I attract so much attention and trouble  lol! Hm, AFM- well, today was pretty general...I did get time to do my school (geology) as dh was working outside, the dd's were playing in the back yard and babes was asleep  So it was just me :) and silence...ahhh :cloud9: Got that done, ran some errands, cooked dinner.....that's about it. Just working my days around Aeryn and the dd's right now. I still "got it" though :haha: That means I can still wash the dishes and cook dinner one-handed- with babes in the other lol! I can burp her with one hand and arm while she is over my shoulder while performing all of the other tasks with the other hand. Otherwise I wouldn't get anything done  Dh and I are trying not to spoil her...so far she hasn't had to sleep on either one of us. Kat and T both did but this time round we tried JUST NOT PICKING HER UP lol! Working so far

Wow, I can't believe the time is going by so fast! before you k now it you'll be in the 2WW and explaining all about dpo/dpt etc to me again :haha: I understand about the age factor-- dh and I were both worried baout it as stats that are out there can be pretty scary but God has really blessed us. If you are more comfortable with the other site- then switch! Fast! :haha:
