Welcome to 'Trying To Conceive Over 35'

Alicatt- Thank you so much! you are absolutely right. I need to just deal with it now and you are probably right. If it was serious the report would not say 6 month follow up. I'm paranoid, mom had cancer at my age. I thought it was because she thinks she received radiation treatment for tonsillitis. I need a :wine:

Here's to further tests.

Yikes

Thanks..

Having the history you have I would probably freak out too! Totally normal to feel that way. Thing is that you are far from having cancer. Just get it checked out and I'm sure all will be fine! Have a glass of wine and relax!

Andra- did you get that massage? :winkwink:

No, we go in next Friday to get it done. I can't wait!

I'm still trying slowly to catch up with everyone.

Ali - Glad you have some meds that will take away the migraines.

Phil - Congrats! I am so happy for you. Have you posted pics yet?

Coy - You need to take care of yourself! If you don't, then you won't have the ability to take care of everyone else. You must make sure your needs are taken care of. Whatever it takes. I understand your DH is in pain, trust me, I get that. Before we moved to Nebraska, I was in constant horrible pain, but I still had to work, take care of my hubby and kids, and I was also taking college classes online. There were a few days I couldn't function, but for the most part I could push myself through. I had to because I had no choice. Maybe it's time for your DH to have no choice but to help out. You said you like to be a bad $ss - send some of that your DH's direction. :haha:

Samsfan - I agree with Ali, don't wait for the 6 months to revisit the thyroid. It really does have an affect on ttc. Hope they figure it out soon.

Daisychick & 2012ttc Welcome!

AFM Life has been quite busy this week! I know during the weeks after Christmas I was alone and bored out of my gourd, but I could really take a day or two (well, maybe just a day) of that again. I am fighting off a third round of whatever crud is going around here. Not fun!
There are so many people in our community that are horribly sick. One woman in our congregation almost died this past week due to complications with the flu. She's still not doing well, but she was finally able to come home yesterday. And many of the children are getting two types of flu at the same time. Poor babies. We usually have 45 children in our Wednesday night kid's program. Last night there were only 20.
We also have a gentleman in our church family who had an aneurysm last week, they didn't catch it in time to give him a good prognosis. He did get a little better, but then he had another stroke on Monday. Today they are having to decide whether or not to unplug the machines. This is so heart-wrenching

On a more positive note, if our income tax return comes in before the 5th of Feb, we are taking a vacation Feb 7th - 14th. :happydance::happydance: We are going to South Dakota to visit friends. The dads are taking the two daughters to a purity ball, and the boys are taking us moms out to a nice, sit-down dinner so we can teach them how to treat a lady, and how a lady should treat them (of course, we are paying... :winkwink: ) My son is teasing us and telling us they think they should take us to Wendy's or Sonic... :haha:

And...... my mom skyped me the other day to ask if I wanted to go on a cruise with them this year. YES!!!!!! :wohoo::wohoo::wohoo: She wanted to whole family to go, but Tim can't get away from the church for that long. So, I'm actually going to be staying in the same room with my aunt so she won't be lonely. Yeah, I think I can handle that... :thumbup: It is in September, so we really have to plan our pregnancy. Basically, you can go on a cruise until you are 24 weeks. So, March would be a good time to get pregnant. Not only for that, but also for the new health plan we are going with. It won't take effect until March 1st. So, that gives me time to lose a little weight, get my eggs healthy, and everything on track. I hope. :winkwink:

Sorry that people are so sick and that you are having to deal with a parishioner that is at that stage of life. It really is heart-wrenching. I remember going through that with my grandfather. :sad2:

A cruise sounds wonderful! Where are you going? September can I come? :haha: Let me tell you, when I went on a cruise last Christmas, we barely spent time in our rooms. So it won't be too bad sharing a room with your Aunt. A couple of things about cruising that I didn't know before I got on the ship. First of all, the lower your floor, the less it will feel like you are bouncing around. Second, if you can get a balcony, try to do so. We found that the rooms were tiny and a little claustrophobic, and stuffy too. By being able to open the door you can get fresh air. I know that rooms with a balcony are more expensive, but we found that to be something that was worthwhile. If you can't get it, that upgrade, then you'll still have fun, you'll just spend even less time in your room! Our ship had nightly entertainment in the theatre, and we did that as a family each night. It was great! Then we'd walk my Mom back to her room (she never could figure out how to get back there on her own), and my brother and I would go out 'bar hopping' to check out what was going on during the later hours. We always managed to find something interesting to do! That is fantastic news, and something to look forward to.

AFM - :ninja: day, lots to do, but I just don't feel like doing it! LOL. My head is being funky, I think I have a migraine, but it is only peeking out every once in a while. I know something is not right, but the pain isn't 100% yet. It just feels off?

The doctor actually prescribed fioricet not fiorinol. The difference is that fioricet is not a schedule drug. Figure that one out! They both have the same amount of the butalbital and caffeine but one has aspirin and the other has tylenol. The one with tylenol is not scheduled, but the one with aspirin is? I took it last night and it did a great job of getting rid of the migraine. I was mostly feeling better, but I was also feeling like I'd had a few martinis too! I asked the nurse when I was getting the prescription resent if people took it during the day, and she said yes all the time! :saywhat: I guess if you are just sitting at home eating bon bons you could take it all day! Not if you want to have a clear head to actually THINK about anything. LOL!

Otherwise.. the guy I mentioned.. I think/hope it is getting more interesting! If nothing else I have found a friend :)

Hello Ladies :hi:

Ali - Good to hear that you have some meds to help with your migraines. Yes acupuncture helps get your body back into balance after ivf. My ovulation was messed up too for the couple months after. I was ovulating cd 17 when I usually always ovulated on cd15. I had severe constipation and hemorrhoids. Wow about the elevated NK cells. Do they think this is the reason your embryos aren't implanting, because your body is seeing them as intruders? How do they suppress NK cells?

Twotogo - How exciting that you have travel plans! Your cruise sounds like lots of fun! I worked in a cruise terminal for 18 years and would you believe never took a cruise yet? :haha: We are going to Barbados 18th Feb. It is getting colder here and snow forcast this week so I am counting down the days!

Coy - I agree with twotogo. You need to be a bass $ss with you dh. If the roles were reversed and you were the one with sever pain you would still be taking care of the house and dd's. Women are more tolerant to pain but they are also more mature and will do what needs to get done no matter what. Men need to try to have the same attitude. When they are sick or in pain they expect to be taken care of. They don't do that for us!!I also agree with what Ali said, your dh will appreciate you only when you are not there doing everything. Take a day off and let him see what it's like. You deserve it!

Samsfan - I have a close friend who has a teenager and recently got remarried and her and hubby were trying for over a year to get pregnant and she was going to do ivf at the same time as me. During her work-up they found that she had hypothyroidism. Just like you she was tired no matter how much sleep she got. She was put on meds and ivf was put off till her thyroid is back to normal.

Phil - Looking forward to seeing pics of your baby girl. Hope you are recovering well from your c-section :hugs:

Daisychick - Welcome!

AFM - The :witch: got me. Yesterday on top of being in pain I got really p*ssed off cuz dh was supposed to go to his urology appoint and he never went!! I reminded him in the morning. Yes he started a new job but I made that appointment before he got the job and now I have to reschedule and it will take a while before he can get another. He hasn't been tested in over 2 years and I have gone through 2 rounds of ivf. He hasn't started exercising either. It's not only for fertility reasons that I want him to go to the urologist, his sister died from breast cancer at age 41 and so he is more at risk for testicular prostate (even breast) cancer. Often men with poor sperm quality find out later testicular cancer was the cause.

So I did my fertility yoga this morning and the lady says "Honor your body's need to let go of the old and release any emotions or thought patterns that no longer serve you" Ommmmm :haha: Easier said than done! :grr:

Coy - I was just reading some more pages and saw about your dd's and tonsils. How are they feeling now? As a child I had the same cottage cheese like stuff at the back of my throat and bad breath. ENT gave me gargle but also started getting ear infections and although he had been reluctant to take them out because they filter out dust form the air we breath in he finally said that they were doing me harm and I had them taken out at age 16. I was so happy after because I didn't have more tonsilitis or ear infections and mainly bad breath was gone! I would refuse going out on dates because I was so ashamed of my bad breath. It is easier to recover from tonsilectomy when you are young too.

Sam- I agree with Ali...don't beat yourself up over a junk attack once in awhile  I try to eat healthy but there are days I just slip up :winkwink: And I have to have chocolate once a day...:cloud9:

Andra- now you're talkin'! I see the words "massage", "vacation", and "cruise" in your posts! Time to de-stress if you can :winkwink: What part of South Dakota? My dh has family there also. So sad about the stupid flu bug! My dd's are fighting some crazy anonymous "something". A sore throat in a nutshell that never goes away?? Aaargh!

Ali- :ninja: today! Yay! Put your combat boots on :trouble: lol! Re:your GF (guy friend) sounds very interesting! Nothing like romance to spice your life :winkwink: and if no romance- as you stated a good friend can be tough to find too!

Jess- :hi: I am going to keep saying "hello" for when you pop back on here....:laugh1:

Chantal- :hugs: I know right ? re: women dealing with stuff....in fact I remember having surgery, coming home and cooking dinner! Aaargh...or driving myself to hospital w/broken ribs, coming back home and taking care of everything :haha: But to give my dh credit he is in pretty severe pain...the doctor said anyone else less "Marine" would be bed ridden. His pain is nerve pain and pretty advanced :sad1: Plus his body has been through hell most of his life. My dh is a "bad-a$$" too :laugh1: Soldier fighting, police work, hand-to-hand combat, he's been shot multiple time  sliced clear across his torso twice and had to sew himself back up- inside and out  lol...I think it's cause he's handsome and sexy I'm not bad-a$$ w/him :cloud9: Aargh! :haha:

Oh- I was going to ask about your fybromialgia (sp) my cousin has it also- it's also a nerve pain correct? What can you take for it? My dh tried cymbalta once and that was a nightmare...what about Lyrica? Btw...love your "Ommmmmm" :haha: And yes your dh should get tested! :growlmad: Good thing oyu are taking care of him!

Jen- :hi:

Babywhisperer, Babydust, Angel, Terri, Alin- all ya'll :haha: :bunny: :hugs: :dust:

AFM-

Well FF gave me crosshairs today :haha: And on the day of my positive opk  Hmmm....Oh and I got what seems to be another positive yesterday  so not sure what's the deal. I will post a pic for you all to interpret for me! :winkwink:
Re:dd's.....I am hoping we don't have to take out their tonsils  My poor babies...anyway, the Echinacea seems to be helping Teagen but she still has a couple white spots :growlmad: and yesterday Kat came down with the same thing. Today her throat is inflamed with white spots :dohh: and she had a small fever last night, just low grade. Aaargh. Anyway I asked doc if it could be a form of oral thrush and he is dubious  We are taking T in for a throat culture today and I had an "aside" conversation with the lab tech and he told me they would look for thrush too even though it's not on the order  No bad breath though or ear infections ...

Sooo that being said I was up all night watching Kat as her breathing was labored due to the throat being slightly swollen...talk about stressing a mother! :growlmad: Today I was up early and have worked my way through most of a pot of coffee. I am a little cranky but not bad  lol!

Here is the opk pic:

Re: my chart....so we bd'd 3 days before and the day of ff's declared Ov...uh-oh.:haha: Lol!

Where is everybody??

What a day so far! So Teagen and I go to the lab and they take a swab of her throat. Then we are told it's going to be a minimum of 3 days til we can get a report back unless they have to send it out of state for further testing...so since its the weekend coming up we are looking at probably Monday :growlmad: Anyway THEN we get a call from the pediatrician that he has prescribed a medicine for Kat. So I go pick that up. Then I give her a dose (it is a liquid) which she has never had trouble with before but because her butt-sister is standing there making gagging noises just to annoy her Kat pukes all over the kitchen floor.

Then she tries to run to the bathroom and pukes in the hallway.

So...I clean and Lysol the kitchen, get out the carpet cleaner and clean the hallway...Aeryn wakes up and starts to scream :dohh: Kat knocks over the cold coke I bribed her with so that starts to drip all over the counter. So I run to clean that up when I notice...the coffee pot (which was in "clean" mode) was leaking hot water all over the damned place!

:dohh: :dohh: :dohh:

So I cleaned that. I made Kat taker her medicine anyways :smug: lol! Ahhhh!

Some days.

Chantal. Doesnt sound like good news right???

Grey eyes. Wow sounds like your dh is a bad ass!!! Hot. What did he do before???? Sounds like you had a tough day!!!!! Hope your daughter gets better!!!!

Alicatt. How was ninja day????

So are we all on the same cycle and are waiting for a positive sign? Or does the witch get us!!! I have an endo appt in two weeks. I do not know he may call me in sooner. This blows!!!!

Never - I'm not sure how big of a deal NK Cells are. I know from reading that it is controversial. However many women seem to get their BFP when the FS adds either IVIG or intralipids and steroids to the cycle. I don't know for sure, but I will know more tomorrow after my appointment with the FS  Don't you worry, I will share!!! I think I liked having my acupuncture in the afternoon as opposed to the morning. I was more relaxed knowing the day was over, ya know?

As for your DH - shame on him! Does he not realize how important this is? Why did he not go? Did he not feel like he could ask for the time off? :grr: Make him call and apologize for missing his appointment and have him schedule an appointment that he feels he can make. You shouldn't be doing that for him, he is a grown boy and should be able to do this on his own! :growlmad: I swear, sometimes I think men would die if it weren't for their wives! :haha: I hope you are feeling a little more Ommmm now!

Coy - sounds like your day was about as wonderful as mine! :haha: GROAN.
I bet if you put in your OPK in the spot for that under tests, it will take your crosshairs away. Stupid FF does stuff like that. I wonder if you are still not fully ovulating or ovulating 2x? You could be surging but not ovulating? Maybe this is your actual ovulation surge? I'm terrible at FF and figuring this stuff out! AHHHHH.

Samsfan - see if you can get on your Endocrinologists wait list? Maybe you can get in sooner? Don't stress it. They don't think it is cancer, and the thyroid can be regulated with hormones. I know, I take the meds! Keep in mind I have heard that a TSH level for pregnancy to be successful should be under 2. I just had mine tested on Tuesday, it is 1.47 YAY! Anyway, PM me if you want more info on thyroid issues. I don't have anything officially wrong with me other than my thyroid decided to stop working.

I'm done for the day.. pooped and feel like crap. Need to take my migraine medication, and go eat dinner. Have a great evening everyone!

Nevergiveup. Im so sorry the witch got you!!! I think you need a heart to heart with your dh!!!!

Samsfan- oooo looks like you might get your crosshairs-what, tomorrow? Day after? Anyway, it looks like you ov'd around the 14th or so?

Ali- Ok, from what I understand there are 2 different types of NK cells: blood NK cells and Uterine NK cells. I found some good info at:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC534451/ but I am still studying :coffee:....Btw- thanks for attempting to interpret my chart. I am now properly  lol :haha:

Chantal: how could he not go?! Aaargh!

Yep.. NK cells are actually good to have. They are part of your immune system. They fight things like infections, viruses and cancer! So having an elevated level is good I think. It means my immune system is working more than most?

So they only tested my blood NK cells, but apparently there is a correlation between the 2. The only way to know if your uterine NK cells are elevated is to do a biopsy of the uterus. IDK if that is something my FS wants to do?

Some of the questions I have:

1) Why are my NK cells elevated?
2) What caused them to be so? (ie. am I fighting an infection, or cancer and that is why they are elevated)
3) Should we do a uterine biopsy or retest the NK? (both would be expensive)
4) What treatment does my FS suggest, side effects, costs? Options? Advantages of each option? Disadvantages of each option?
5) When can we start my FET?

Now I just need to remember these questions for tomorrow morning! 9:15am tomorrow. :yipee:

Ali, I think this is the cruise we are going on. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/find...ageCode=FR07E081&date=201308&sailDate=1130908

I went on a cruise with my parents and some other family members a few years ago. I was in the room with my 18 year-old niece - who had the maturity of a 12 year-old, so basically I felt like I was her babysitter. She wanted to go party all night, the rest of us told her no, and she wasn't real happy about it. I really did enjoy the cruise when I wasn't 'babysitting', but this time it will be nice to have my aunt. She's a lot of fun and we get on real well, so this time I will be able to relax.

I know you weren't asking me, but I used to take meds for Fibro. I took Lyrica, and it worked well for a while and then the effectiveness decreased. I was on Cymbalta for it. Didn't do squat for the pain, but it did wonders for depression. What really helped - and don't laugh - was when the doctor put me on Ritalin. It didn't totally take away the pain, but it made it more manageable. And... with how I reacted to the medications the doctor realized that I did have ADD. :haha: Um, I already knew that. :haha::haha:
