what age do you think is safe to start using this. my LO is only 3 weeks old not thinking about using it now but curious to know when i should using them! ive heard they can help baby sleep a bit better! x
Think there is a weight guideline on them but we started ours at about 12 weeks as our bedroom started getting a bit cooler. He sleeps lovely in it and it's good getting him in it before bedtime to just lay them down asleep instead of messing with covers. Does anyone feel their arms get a bit cold though?
We used them from birth & love them! Think they really came in useful from 12 weeks when we moved lo to her cot. Because she had more room she would wriggle around and we often found her head at the foot end of the cot by morning desire* putting her feet to foot!
Having a fleeing** bag that moved with her rather than blankets she could get under was a big reassurance
Edit: flipping iPhone! That should be *despite & ** sleeping
The small size bag I had wanted the baby to be 10 lbs. My LO didn't get that heavy until 6 months old. He hated the sleeping bag when we tried it because he couldn't move around and stand up with it on, so it went unused.
We used one pretty much from birth. We had Grobag ones and the minimum weight was 7lbs, DS was bigger than that when he was born. He was swaddled for the first week or so then we moved onto sleeping bags.
The minimum weight on grobags is 8lb, and you need to check their head can't slip down through the neck hole. We've had LO in one from about 5 weeks, when he reached 8lbs
We started using one around 3 months but as above posters have said when they reach the minimum weight they're fine to use, you need to be careful their heads can't burrow down the neckholes that's why x
lucas was two or three weeks, the min weight requirement was 7lb and he was over 8lbs born. i started using them as he was kicking off his covers and waking up cold, now he can't sleep without them as he is frequently upside down, sideways, or in a corner at the top or bottom of the cot!
We just started using these but I wish I'd got them sooner! I didn't have any trouble keeping LO covered up in her basket but when we moved her to the cot she was always kicking off her covers. She slept so much better in the bag, and it also makes the stealth put-down after her nightime feeds much easier.
With Grobags I think the new weight limit is 8lbs. The 0-6 month size bags have extra poppers to make the armholes smaller for babies under 10lbs. xx
Millicent had one from birth as we got given a newborn one from the hospital (which looks so tiny now) i think the shop bought one was 10lbs, she was about 2 months when she went into that.
xx
I started using mine when they moved into big cot which was about 7 or 8 weeks, they have weight guides and both my boys were big babies, so they were at the right weight.
TK Maxx often has them for half price too - we've just bought a 'proper' Grobag, 2.5 tog for winter, for £16.99. Worth a look to see what they've got in
We started using them at 4 weeks, LO was well above the minimum weight by then and the grobag was such a snug fit there was no chance of him sliding down. They are a godsend!
Hi, we have started our LO in them from about 4 days old.
He hates sheets and we were too scared to swaddle.
I bought one fro babies r us which is suitable for a new born, but as mentioned i think its min of 7lb.
he seems happier in this than sheets as he cant kick it off. the presstuds under the arms keep it in place. But i guess it depends on the size of the baby
I started using them when Sam was about 3 weeks. The minimum weight was 8lbs on mine I think and he was over that by then. Was just about when he started kicking off his blanket and waking up cold - solved the problem instantly. The bag hung over the back and out of his Moses Basket. So great as such a simple but effective way of saying it's bedtime when we put it on and he gets the same blanket then when we stay elsewhere or he stays at Grannys. There is no way a blanket would stay on him even now.
