What and how much are my fellow mamas/mums drinking?

I'm thirsty a lot. I hardly drank anything pre-pregnany. I try and drink about 4 pints, anything less I feel thirsty!! Only problem is, what goes in.... Must come out!!!

So glad I read this! You girls inspired me to drink more. Right now, I drank a mug of coffee in the AM. 8 oz of juice or milk. And if I'm lucky, another 1.5 L of water. Some days that doesn't happen though :nope:

Thanks, I do notice I can drink an entire cup of coffee at once.... And that's the only thing I can get down in one sitting .... Maybe the warmer liquids are better..... I talked to my dr, he told me its not what goes down its how much stays down , he said to not worry about actual water right now, focus on anything that goes down, Gatorade , sprite, and lots of fruits like watermelon and grapes...... Then told me if I'm still in the same condition by 2nd trimester we will discuss it :/ I see him next wk.... I'll be almost 14 wks by then...... I'm feeling so worried for baby ! I have HG also.... On zofran and vitamin b ...... It's letting up a little, I can actually eat now! But not drink much....

Drinking a lot of water throughout the day does make me have to pee a lot, but I'd rather have that inconvenience than premature labor and delivery!

How dehydrated would you have to be to have premature labour?! I've never been a big drinker of water etc but still managed term + 5! Whenever I gat stressed I think, the worlds populations got to 7 billion somehow, our bodies seem ok at this pregnancy lark. I am definitely more laid back second time round!

Typically I only drink water. I aim for 80 oz a day. Sometimes 100. But lately it's getting harder since I'm peeing so much! Lol. So it varies.

Otherwise I rarely drink anything else. If I do, I don't cut back my water intake so I'm usually floating all day.

I drink a lot of water...I fill up my 20oz mug probably 4 times a day, plus I drink milk and occasionally juice or some diet soda.

When I was pregnant with my twins, I drank more than a gallon of fluids a day. I was so thirsty all the time that I often had to get up several times in the middle of the night to drink water, and during the day I carried a 32oz mug of ice water around with me everywhere I went. I would fill it up at least 3 times a day.

Wow! If I drank all that I would be in the loo all day! probably drink about a litre and a half overall - pretty much just water although I have one cup of tea a day usually.

Haha I did spend a lot of time in the bathroom! Not as much as you'd think, though, considering how much I drank. My body just really needed water, I guess...two babies to hydrate :)

This has definitely been my experience this go round. Every time I get up to go to the bathroom I down at least another glass. It doesn't matter how many times I have to go, I'm just that thirsty!

Pinkcatgirl - my first two pregnancies I wasn't nearly as thirsty and my babies nearly paid the price for that. I didn't have the luxury of being laid back, if I didn't drink enough I had contractions I didn't even feel and I did deal with preterm labor from 24ish weeks on. I made it to 37 and 36 weeks respectively but it wasn't easy by any stretch of the imagination.

How much you need to stave off contractions really is an individual thing. But just because pregnancy is a no brainer for some women throughout the world doesn't mean it's that way for all! Hydration is the first line of defense for ANY women going into labor before 36 weeks. I'm really surprised you haven't heard anything from your doctor about just how important it is!
